Mr. & Mrs. Seraydarian When asked why Gary and Joan Seraydarian chose the Woodmont Community they gave an answer we are all too familiar with…the grand-dogs. They can be quite a magnet. The Seraydarian’s daughter and grand-dog live nearby in Creekside and after they saw the fine homes and Woodmont’s beautiful course it was a, as they said, “no brainer”. So they bought a home in the Cadence neighborhood and the rest is history. Mr. Seraydarian belongs to the SMGA and both he and Joan enjoy the themed dinners we host here at the club. When

you do run into Mr. Seraydarian at the club chances are pretty good that you’ll find him eating his favorite thing, a Rueben sandwich. Anyone heading to the Figi Islands anytime soon? That’s where they’d like to vacation in the near future. The last question we always ask on our member spotlight questionnaire is What three historical figures would you like to have dinner with? It doesn’t always get answered but Mr. Seraydarian took the time to share his answer with us and included on his list were Jesus Christ, Ronald Regan and General George Patton. Now that’s what I call interesting dinner company.

Thank you Seraydarian family for being part of our wonderful club!

Neighborhood Review

Alterations or Changes to PropertyAs a friendly reminder to the homeowners of Woodmont, please take a moment to re-view the Neighborhood Living Guidelines before completing any alterations or additions to the exterior of your home. Our community website Covenants Committee page contains the downloadable Covenants and Guidelines document. These Guidelines were created to keep our community's appearance attractive for all who reside in or vi-sit Woodmont. Thank you for helping to keep Woodmont beautiful!

Off-Duty PatrolsOff-Duty Law Enforcement Officers continue to patrol our Community on predetermined days. During scheduled School Breaks and Holidays we have an increased presence of patrols. If you see something suspicious in our Community, don’t question it!

Dial 9-1-1 immediately.

No Overnight Parking On The Street!Recently there has been an increase in vehicles being parked on the street overnight. Parking in this manner causes unsafe conditions for other vehicle operators on our Community streets, especially at night. The Neighborhood Covenants state that, "Vehicles shall not be parked on any street in the Community." This of course does not apply to brief gatherings during the day or early evening. Please make every effort to move vehicles to your garage or driveway overnight.

Please Respect Your Neighbors PropertySomething as innocent as toilet paper in your neighbors trees causes an unnecessary eyesore and extensive cleanup work, not to mention a poor appearance in our ever growing community. This type of behavior is not tolerated in the community and will dealt with by our Community Security Patrols. Our Off-Duty Deputies are on the lookout for this type of behavior. Once again, please show the respect our neighbors deserve by discouraging this behavior. Thank you.

Covenants ReportingYour Advisory Committee has a convenient automated form on our Community website for reporting any issues you encounter in Woodmont. Any concerns with exterior modifications such as paint or construction additions should be directed to Chris Hyde at Fieldstone.

Mailbox in Disrepair? Our management company recently informed the HOA Advisory Committee of several instances of residents 'modifying' their mailboxes in hopes of salvaging them. All of these attempts to extend the life of the damaged mailboxes has led to a necessary re-placement. Please understand the guidelines in the Community Covenants are in place to enforce uniformity in these types of circumstances. What may appear to be an acceptable repair in someone's eyes, might likely be an eyesore to most others. Most just need a fresh coat of paint and new metal box, others are beyond maintenance or re-pair. For those in search of a replacement, please contact our approved vendor Con-temporary Kitchens. The cost of $400 includes a sealed and painted post, metal mail-box and concrete in-ground installation. For more information contact Paul with Con-temporary Kitchens at 770-487-3377.

Yard Signage GuidelinesSignage is not permitted without prior written consent of the Board except:

• Professional security signs

• As required by legal proceedings

• Professionally lettered “for sale” or “for rent” – see covenants for detailed specifications

• One political/campaign sign posted no more than 14 days prior to election and removed immediately after

Please remind contractors that their signs may not be posted in the yard before, during or after work is done.

Note: Only realtor signs are permitted on Common Areas from Friday evening to Sun-day evening.

Contact [email protected] with any questions.

Neighborhood ReviewHelp Keep Woodmont From Looking TrashyAs a reminder, trash receptacles are to be placed at the street the evening prior to trash pickup day, and are to be removed and stored by the evening of trash pickup day. Storage of trash receptacles at all other times should be according to the Neighborhood Protective Covenants. The Covenants specifi cally state: "...garbage cans, wood-piles, and other similar items shall be located or screened so as to be concealed from view of neighboring Lots, streets and property located adjacent to the Lot." Thank you for your assistance!

Covenants ReportingYour Advisory Committee has a convenient automated form on our Community website for reporting any issues you encounter in

Woodmont. Any concerns with exterior modi-fi cations such as paint or construction additions should be directed to Chris Hyde at Fieldstone.

Advisory Committee DutiesThe Advisory Committee consists of volunteer Woodmont residents. The representation of the resident committee is very diverse. The current committee has a voice from golf members, activities members, active families, and retired couples. This diversity enables the committee to address concerns from various perspectives.

While the decision-making authority rests with the NMA Board of Directors, appointed by JW Homes, the Advisory Committee takes an active approach to reviewing the operational and fi nancial matters as well as responding to the needs of the community. The Advisory Committee partners with the Woodmont Golf Club, J W Homes and Field-stone Property Managers to ensure that matters affecting the covenants and fi nancial statements are reviewed.

Club ReviewWhat it means to be a Trayletaah Garden Club MemberTrayletaah Garden Club was founded in October, 1947 and was named after a Cherokee Indian Princess, Trahlyta. As the fable goes, Trahlyta was the fairest and most beautiful of all the Cherokee women, like most women of today, she wanted to keep her beauty. Trahlyta decided to visit a witch who told her if she were to drink and bathe from Porter Springs, her beauty would last forever.

One day, Trahlyta was kidnapped by a rejected suitor and held captive. Consequently, this kept her from visiting her magical waters in the mountains and she faded away right in front of her suitor's eyes. Her final wish was to be buried in the mountains that she loved so much. She was buried at Stone Pile Gap, intersection of US19 and SR 60. So, if you go by to visit, the saying goes, “place a stone on her grave and good fortune will come your way. But if you remove a stone, you will suffer the curse of the Cedar Mountain Witch”. Twice in history men have died from horrible accidents when trying to remove the stones to build a road. Therefore the road was built around the mound.

Trayletaah Garden Club is a very active garden club that works on many different projects in our community of Canton. For example, we volunteer to help with Arbor Day in downtown Canton, which takes place the third Friday of February, weather permitting. We maintain the Island on Main Street as you come into Canton from the Canton Market Place. Trayletaah designed and has maintained the Island on Main Street since 1963. Mayor Hobgood even gave us a certificate of thanks last year. And then there is the Youth Garden Program, which was spearheaded by our very own Katie VanHiel (Woodmont Resident). Our club sponsors Arnold Mill Elementary School Youth Garden Club both financially and through

volunteer hours. Not only does this bring smiles to the children's faces, but it brings smiles to ours as we work along-side them. We also send a 4-H Child to camp. This just gives you a glimpse of what we do. If you are wondering how we can do all of these great things it is because of the Canton Art Festival. We rent a booth and sell plants that are personally grown by our members.

You might be wondering why I am sharing all of this information with you. Well, we are looking for new members to join our club. We meet in the homes of our members, the first Tuesday of each month, nine months out of the year, at 3:30 pm., and have parties two of the months. We have a cap of 30 members and require our members to be somewhat involved in our many different projects. We have a couple of teachers and working members that cannot participate in everything, but they do join in when they can. If you love gardening and volunteering Trayletaah Garden Club is for you. Please call Sue Allen, 404-431-3598.

Golf NewsCouples GolfCouples golf at Woodmont is geared for all golf members of all skill levels. Our events are more social golf with just a hint of competition. We attempt to have fun formats with a lot of socializing, good meals and a few adult beverages mixed in.

We have made a lot of plans and new events for 2016. A huge thank you goes out to the WLGA ladies for taking a very active role in our new Nine and Dine events. They will be held on the 4th Friday of the month from March thru October. We will continue our Sunday Couples with plans to run from May thru September. Our goal will be the fi rst Sunday of the month with the exception of July and September due to the holidays.

We hope the weather is more cooperative this year than last. The standing joke was to sign up for couples, fertilize your lawn and watch the rain. We were rained out on all but two events last year.

We will have sign ups on the Woodmont Events. Formats will be spelled out at that time. The planned dates are as follows.

If you have any questions, you can contact the Pro Shop or me at [email protected]

Golf Association NewsWMGA As I write this, we are rapidly approaching the fi rst tournament of the year, The Bubba. Only in Georgia. As you read this, we have already declared a winner and are looking forward to my personal favorite, The Luck of the Irish, also known as The Cross Country Tour. If you haven't played in this event, you are only hurting yourself. This is when trying to par #8 from the middle of #7 fairway puts you in the odd position of "most experienced" I am not saying I have played down #18 fairway to the #18 tee box and over to #10 green....but I'm not saying I haven't. This is the tournament when you look at your "D" player and ask for yardage from the #7 tee box to #6 green...because he's had that shot....4 times.

The tournament committee has been working hard to establish/fi nalize all formats, including this year's Member/Guest and President's Cup. Once the new owners are in place, we will have a better idea of what both of those tournaments will entail. Let's start talking to potential partners now and get back to a full fi eld for Member/Guest. Last year we had a great fi eld and I fully expect to top it this year. I know everyone is getting anxious for the season to begin and your wait is over. I look forward to discussing my dominance in The Bubba for next month's Woodmont Word. Stay tuned...

Stop by the Golf Shop and check out the new merchandise arriving just in time for your next round of golf. We can also special order merchandise for you if you are looking for something that is not in stock.

Clay Court UsageThe clay courts should be available for use beginning mid March (weather permitting). Please understand that during the winter when temperatures drop below 32 degrees the clay courts are closed. During the winter the gravel base material rises to the top surface making the courts unplayable. Additionally, after heavy rains during the warmer months they cannot be rolled until they are completely dried out. After using the clay courts please be sure to sweep the courts and lines and hang the brooms back on the fence where they are stored.

From the Social DirectorRSVP, Répondez s’il vous plaît, is a French phrase that translates to “please respond.” It is with this meaning that invitation cards and similar documents are often marked with “RSVP.” It is standard practice to reply to an RSVP request whether confirming attendance or declining.

RSVP…Four little letters with a big meaning behind them. Most of you may not know this but reserving your spot for an event here at the club is more than just a simple interest request. It means entertainment is booked and a deposit is made, food is ordered from our purveyors and prepared by the kitchen staff, and a space is saved for you. So you see, it’s more than just four letters. Some great events here at Woodmont have been canceled due to lack of reservations only to find out there was a big interest.

All of this being said, please be sure to respond to those fabulous invitations you are receiving and if something happens and you can’t make the event, let your host know as soon as you can – Catering requires a final guest count 7 days in advance. I look forward to seeing you all at our upcoming events. And please…RSVP.

Culinary DelightsFood and Beverage News from Brian CharlesWith spring peaking around the corner we have some changes going on at the club…the new menu items have been a success! Thank you to all of you that have come over to the dining room to give them a try. It looks like the SoCal Chicken Sandwich has already become a member favorite. In an effort to bring fresh new offerings from the food and beverage department we are also going to revamp Wednesday night to be more family oriented so we are creating a pasta bar every week with different pasta dishes . And by popular request we are going to start hosting a monthly “chop house” style steak night. With a great menu and delicious pizzas, Woodmont is your go to for a good meal without having to leave “campus”. My door is always open and I take all suggestions to heart. If there is something special you would like to see in the dining room please don’t hesitate to let us know.

My cooking classes are growing bigger with each passing month and I love it! Thank you for all of those of you who attend and if you haven’t been to one yet, please rsvp as soon as they are advertised because they do fill up fast.

We have a new addition to our staff! Pete recently joined our team here

at Woodmont and he specializes in pastries, pies and cakes. We look forward to bringing some of his special creations to your table soon.

See you soon,

Chef Brian Charles

Cooking Class with Chef BrianLet me start by telling you the items that were demonstrated…Mustard Balsamic Vinaigrette, Beet Salad, Lynonnaise Potatoes, Beef Rouladen, and No Bake Chocolate Cheesecake. All of that and a glass of wine. I know, right? Yum! Chef Brian can take an intimidating recipe and make it easy to prepare. If you haven’t been to one of his monthly classes yet you are really missing out. Next month’s class is Tuesday, March 1st but this time it’s a night time couples class. Join us in Cherokee Hall from 5-7pm for a delicious cooking demonstration and wine pairing.
