Biography of Rene Meulensteen René Meulensteen (Dutch) holds both the UEFA "A" and the Royal Dutch FA "TCI" coaching licenses.

Meulensteen played football himself in the Dutch lower leagues as a midfielder but he retired from playing at the

age of 29. He went on to coach both the Qatar national team under 16's and under 17's sides. In 1999, while

Manchester United was lifting the UEFA Champions League trophy, Meulensteen was lifting the Arab Cup as

manager of Qatari side Al-Etehad. In 2000 he moved to Al-Sadd where he managed them to winning the

domestic Emir Cup competition. He had also been a youth coach at NEC Nijmegen.

In 2001, Sir Alex Ferguson and academy director Les Kershaw persuaded him to join Manchester United as "Skills

Development Coach", coaching all of the youngsters from age 9 to 21. In December 2005, Sir Alex Ferguson

promoted him to manage Manchester United's reserve team, after the departure of Ricky Sbragia who left to

become first team coach with Sam Allardyce and Sammy Lee at Bolton Wanderers. René retained his role as

"Skills Development Coach".

From July 2006 René Meulensteen took over as head coach for Brøndby IF.

Biography of Peder Siggaard Assistant coach Peder Siggaard (born 1963) holds the Danish Football Association's A license and has been

coaching football players on amateur and elite levels since he was 15 years old.

From 2001 to 2003 Peder Siggaard was head coach for Brøndby IF's women's team, which he led to the club's

first women championship in 2003. Since 2003 Peter Siggaard has held the job as coach for the "Integrated

Talents Development Project", which is a co-project between the Danish FA and Danish elite clubs.

Peder Siggaard holds a BSc in physical education from University of Copenhagen, where he has been teaching for

10 years. Furthermore, Peder Siggaard is coaching instructor for the Danish FA and member of the board of

Brøndby Gymnasium.

The history of Brøndby IF 1964 The club is founded on December 3 as the result of the merger between Brøndbyvester IF, ranked as

number 6 in the SBU Serie 1, and Brøndbyøster IF, ranked as number 11 and thus relegated to Serie 4.

1965 Brøndbyernes IF finishes fourth in Serie 1. The same year Brøndby Stadium is opened (however, without stands).

1966 Brøndby IF once again finishes fourth in Serie 1.

1967 Brøndby wins Serie 1 and is promoted to Sjællandsserien.

1968 The first season in Sjællandsserien ends with a ninth place.

1969 Brøndby IF finishes just over the relegation line. The club is divided into separate sports.

1970 Mayor Kjeld Rasmussen is elected chairman of Brøndby IF.

1971 Brøndby IF wins Sjællandsserien and is promoted to Danmarksserien.

1972 Per Bjerregaard (present CEO) ends his active career and takes over the job as chairman. The first season yields a seventh place.

1973 Finn Laudrup takes on the role as ‘playing coach’ and the team finishes third.

1974 Brøndby IF wins Danmarksserien with 39 points for 22 matches and a score of 81-30 - the club's prime ambition is reached: From 1975 Brøndby IF is part of 3. division.

1975 The Danish Tournament undergoes change: From three divisions each consisting of 12 clubs to three divisions of 16 teams with one national 3. division. Brøndby IF achieves a place as number six.

1976 Brøndby IF finishes ninth in the 3. division.

1977 Brøndby IF is promoted to 2. division.

1978 The first season gives Brøndby IF a placement as number 11. The first stand is opened at Brøndby Stadium.

1980 Brøndby IF finishes runners up in 2. division.

1981 The 25th of October - with three rounds of the tournament left - Brøndby defeats AB 6-2 in attendance of 2,869 spectators at Gladsaxe Idrætspark and is thus promoted to 1. division. The same year Brøndby IF's reserve team wins Sjællandsserien.

1982 Brøndby IF makes its debut in 1. division on March 28 with a victory of 7-1 over B1909 at Brøndby Stadium. The following Sunday Brøndby IF is defeated by AGF 1-0. Michael Laudrup becomes the first Brøndby National player and is elected player of the year in Denmark. Per Bjerregaard becomes "Sports Leader" of the year. The club finishes fourth.

1993 The team lives up to the expectation and receives bronze medals and makes it to Europe. Brøndby Support - the club's official fan club - is established.

1994 For the second time Brøndby IF wins the FA Cup and celebrates its 30 year anniversary.

1995 Silver medals in the national tournament. Success in the UEFA Cup: the team defeats Liverpool FC. Brøndby Support now has 4,000 members.

2002 Coach Hareide decides to resign in April after a disappointing spell. Youth Coach Tom Køhlert takes over as interim coach and with 4 wins and 2 draws in the last 6 games leads Brøndby IF to the club’s 9th title. Michael Laudrup is signed as new coach from July 1st.

Stadium history

Brøndby Stadium has seen five major extensions in its 38 years of existence. The first ground was thus laid out in 1965, and was nothing more than a field and an embankment rising to the staggering height of half a meter.

The ground was fitted with its first floodlights in 1980. Two years prior to this event, the stadiums first stand had been erected, holding 1.200 spectators, all seated beneath a cantilevered roof.

17

In 1982 an open stand holding 5.000 standing spectators was erected opposite the main stand.

In 1990 the open stand was extended to hold an extra 1.400 spectators as well as it was fitted with a roof. At first the stand still held 5.000 standing spectators at the front, but 2 years later the stand was equipped with seats, as two new stands were erected, one in each end of the pitch.

The two new stands held 5.500 standing spectators each, taking the stadium capacity to just below 20.000 spectators.

In 2000 the stadium was extended yet again, to seat 26.000 spectators for EC matches and 29.000 for domestic games.
