Imagine being there with the disciples huddled in a locked room terrified of meeting with the same fate as their Lord and Master. Suddenly he appears, blessing them with his peace. Showing his hands and his side he assures them that he is the same Jesus that walked the roads of Galilee with them. Joy replaces sadness. Like a gentle summer breeze, they feel his breath upon them Receive the Holy Spirit “. He sends them out to speak the language of the Spirit, the language of peace, of forgiveness , of generous care and faithful service just as the Father had sent him. Or, picture being with his followers in Jerusalem during the Jewish festival of Pentecost. Witness the miraculous confusion of wind, fire and speech. FIRE and WIND …… think Old Testament events …. the BURN- ING BUSH that attracted Moses …. the PILLAR OF FIRE in the wilderness …. the GENTLE BREEZE signalling the presence of God for Elijah ….. Jesus had kept his promise. The wonderful deeds of God are told in various languages to pilgrims from many countries. Simple folk from Galilee become giants and heroes preaching the Good News. Such was, and is, the transforming power of the Spirit. To- day, on this feast of Pentecost, you and I, are invited to open ourselves like the disciples to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. How can this be done? How can we be present to the Spirit s inspirations, teachings and transformation? How can we respond generously to his gifts? Perhaps Patrick Kavanagh s poem Having Confessed has the answer. God cannot catch us Unless we stay in the unconscious room Of our hearts. We must be nothing, Nothing that God may make us something. May the Holy Spirit, on this Feast of Pentecost, catch us ready and willing to respond to his making something of us. Happy Bir thday Everyone!

Monday Club 29 May 2017 After the usual tea and cake etc. in the club today. we had a discussion on the possibility of a day’s outing to a flower festival in Johnstown Co Wexford on 1 July but we abandoned the idea. We will arrange something later on in the summer months. There was a “Thank You” card from Rita Carroll on behalf of St Vincent de Paul Society for the €46 raised in the club. Raffle prizes courtesy of Breda Grace. Thank you Breda. Congratulations to Mary Mooney, Breda Connolly and Kathleen Finan & myself for winning prizes in the South Dublin County Council Competition entitled “Childhood Memories”. We will have an exhibition of our entries at our next Monday Club. Today we had Frank Drescher come to talk to us about himself. Most of us would have seen Frank at Mass and assisting in ceremonies. Frank is from Germany and came to Clondalkin last year to gain experience of parish life as he is hoping to further his studies for the priesthood. Thank you Frank for coming to join us and telling us about yourself in the easy relaxed, interesting and at times injecting a bit of humor. It is not so easy to stand up there and share one’s story with others. We in the club thank you and we wish you all the best and will keep you in our prayers. You will be always welcome to come in for the cuppa and chat whenever you can. We wish Margaret Ledwidge and Teresa Hyland speedy recoveries . We will be back in the Club again on 12 June with Minnie’s music. Until then take care. Kathleen

The members of Clondalkin Animal Aid thank most sincerely all those attended and supported our Adoption Day at Newlands Garden Centre where €1230 was raised and new homes were found for 6 dogs and 3 cats. We also send a huge thanks to everyone who took part in our table Quiz on the 18th May when €591 was raised. Thanks a million to the Management and Staff of both venues for their kindness and hospitality. All monies raised go towards the health and welfare of the animals in our care. Your continued support is very much appreciated, we really couldn't do it without you." Mary McCoy

THANK YOU - I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the collection in aid of the Diabetic Unit at Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin last week-end.

A total sum of €678.74 was collected. Joan Ward “Bring flowers of the fairest and flowers of the rarest” We asked for donations of flowers to adorn the Statue of Our Lady and again were not disappointed! Our Lady ensured her procession took place in beautiful sunshine in beautiful surroundings. Our thanks to Frank who led the Rosary, people who took part and of course to the members of the Pastoral Council who had the welcome cuppa and biscuits for the grown-ups and drinks for the children and to the sisters of

the Presentation Convent for access to their grounds. PS. Please do feel free to visit the statue of Our Lady in the front of the Convent, browse as you will amid the whispers of the old trees and scrambling of the

squirrels. Sr. Mary keeps the Sacred place beautiful.

Adult Catechism Studies - The Lord’s Prayer – Final Petitions. “And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us”. We ask Gods mercy for our offences and learn to forgive our enemies with the example and help of Christ. We always need to acknowledge our sinfulness, certain of Gods mercy and love. “And lead us not into temptation”. If we live according to the Spirit we will recognize and resist every temptation. We implore the Spirit for strength and discernment. “But deliver us from Evil”. Christians pray to God with the Church, to show the victory won by Christ over Satan. “Amen”. May our daily lives be the “Amen” to

the Lord’s Prayer. Ronan
