Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D. program)The Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology degree program is based on the scientist-practitioner model. Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D. program)The Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology degree program is based on the practitioner-informed-by-science model. Specifically, its goals are to train future psychologists in the core knowledge areas of the discipline and to prepare them to provide evidence-based assessment, intervention, and consultation services across a full range of populations, settings, and formats. 118 credits

The doctoral programs provide broad and general preparation. Additional training opportunities include

The Ph.D. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology degree programs are full-time, on-campus programs with residency requirements. The programs typically require four years of coursework and one year of internship; the Ph.D. dissertation may take longer. Students are eligible for an en-route master’s degree upon completion of the first two years of either doctoral program.

Center for Psychological Studies

The Center for Psychological Studies is dedicated to providing the highest quality of education to its students, superior mental health care services to the community, and research contributions to mental health sciences. The center offers two American Psychological Association-accredited doctoral programs (Ph.D. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology); a specialist degree in school psychology; and master’s degrees in mental health counseling, school counseling, clinical psychopharmacology, and counseling. The center also has an APA-accredited predoctoral internship program and sponsors the Consortium Internship Program.
