Hello Hollar Here, We are just plowing through the first part of 2019 — do you like my “play” on words...plowing through (snow). One way to look at the close to record snow fall in the month of February is Volleyball should be on a weekend with beautiful sunny skies. If you didn’t attend our family night at Bruce Mound you missed a fun evening! You might want to consider putting it on your calendar for next year. We have Foods Revue on tap in May and hopefully a Clothing Revue in June. This is a great time to start working on writing out goals for what you want to learn or achieve in the coming months as you work on and select projects for the fair.

Clark County 4-H Leaders Federation Minutes February 11, 2019 at ADS

Amy Gerhardt called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. Pledges to the American and 4-H flags were said.

Secretary’s Report: The secretary’s minutes for the December 10, 2018 meeting were reviewed. Courtney Schoessow moved to approve. Motion seconded by John Brost and carried. Financial Report: Joan Buchholz reviewed the financial reports for December and January. The ending balance as of 2/5/19 was $49,158.37 which includes $11,751.01

of self-supporting project balances. No corrections were noted. Kyle Johnson moved to approve. Sam Jacque seconded and the motion carried. Nicolas Stiemann moved to purchase a kayak trailer for $850. Kyle Johnson seconded the motion and it carried. John Brost moved that up to $200 be used to purchase advertising for the Drama/Music Festival in local papers at the north end of the county. It was

seconded and carried.

Old Business: Chris Hollar reported that just under 100 youth attended the bowling event. She outlined some changes for consideration for next year’s event, including

removal of the competition piece which would allow for varying number of members per team, and returning to serving pizza buffet style. Approximately 150 members participated in the tubing event at Bruce Mound. The Leaders Board put together a list of 48 sample SMART goals that will be made available to club leaders at the April meeting. Clubs will be able to

use this list as a resource when formulating goals for their clubs.

New Business: Chris Hollar noted that she would like to have a videographer available at the Drama/Music Festival to provide each participant with a CD of their perfor-

mance that they then could use to apply to perform at the Wisconsin State Fair. Brianna Rowe volunteered to tape the performances. Copies of a civil rights letter has been e-mailed to all general leaders. Leaders are encouraged to speak with the organization heads where their

4-H club meets regarding these letters as part of a preparation for an upcoming civil rights review at the county level. As part of the Expansion and Review Committee, the board put together several SMART goals that will be shared with clubs in an effort to encourage

clubs to think about reaching out to underserved members of our communities. Those goals are as follows: 1) Increase ethnic understanding by (presenting, visiting, inviting cultural group) to a club meeting 2) During club year, we will offer one educational activity to learn about a new culture 3) During club year, meeting agendas and minutes will be translated into Spanish for ALL families 4) Enhance country knowledge by having club members identify a country within a continent they want to research and have family members pull from a hat a topic to research on that specific region of the world, presenting the research at a Country Culture evening.

The board discussed the possibility of arranging for a Paint Ball Tournament for the fall of 2019.

Committee Reports: Dairy—Chris Hollar noted that the Dairy Committee is seeking quotes to cement the dairy barn and upgrade the electric resources in the barn. Junior Leaders—Planning an “Under the Sea” theme for Clover Camp Challenge. Livestock—Pam Selz-Pralle and Chris Hollar are putting together two livestock educational sessions that will focus on educating youth and parents in

the area of having positive conversations with the general public regarding agricultural practices. These sessions will be held on March 28, 7:00 p.m., Neillsville Courthouse; and April 23, 7:00 p.m., Loyal City Hall.

Shooting Sports—We are in need of an air rifle instructor for 2020.

Agent Hollar Report: Chris has put together a “Top Mixers” resource that will be available to all clubs. The Volleyball Sportsmanship ballots will be handed out to coaches prior to the tournament in an effort to see that every participating team completes a

ballot.

Kyle Johnson moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by John Brost and carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:58 p.m.

The next board meeting will be held on March 11, 7:00 p.m., ADS in Greenwood

Respectfully submitted, Susan Stiemann, Secretary
