RCSD CIRBY @rcsdcirby Principal’s Message: Happy New Year Cirby families! I hope you had the opportunity to share time with family and friends during our Winter Break. As 2019 begins, teachers and students transition back to school routines after a long break. Teachers know that children want – and need‐ routines. Studies show that families of successful students also have established routines. Repetition of these established routines helps children learn to organize their world. The structure gives them a foundation to help cope with the rest of their lives. Here are some helpful suggestions to establish this foundation: • set a time and place for children to do school work • set a time for children to read at home every day • give children responsibilities in the home • establish a regular bedtime • reserve some special time to spend with your children, 1:1, if possible • recognize that children learn in different ways • establish morning routines so children get to school on time each day We all start the new year with a “clean slate”. Our School‐Wide Expectations ‐ Show Respect, Make Good Decisions and Solve Problems ‐ will be thoroughly revisited in January. In conjunction with this re‐teaching, Lastly, as we embark on this new year together, I would like to thank you for all you do to support Cirby School and student learning – all year long!
