Welcome Cardinal Sean! Next weekend Sacred Heart parish wel-comes Cardinal Sean O’Malley. He joins us to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Hispanic Community at Sacred Heart at the noon time mass on Sunday, June 19th. As well, we cele-brate Father’s Day as a tribute to all of our Fa-thers living and deceased.

Sacred Heart Parish is a center of Catho-lic life and worship for 123 years. Fr. John Cummins celebrated our first Mass ‘in the tent on Poplar Street’ on July 7th, 1893. From our earliest times, Catholics have gathered here from Ireland, Italy, Canada, Poland, England and many other lands. More recently, we are a cen-ter for peoples from a dozen Hispanic nations, from the Caribbean islands, and from the west coast of Africa. Simply Sacred Heart Roslindale is a Catholic and a ‘catholic’ Church. God has blessed us with the richness of humanity.

Today we welcome Cardinal O’Malley. He celebrates the noon mass on Sunday, June 19th. We celebrate the 30 years of worship of our Hispanic community. People from many lands gather in the Church of the Sacred Heart with Cardinal O’Malley. May God bless us all. Msgr. Frank Kelley

June 12 - Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time Saint Paul’s letter to the Galatians continues this week with the beautiful phrase, “yet I live, no longer I , but Christ lives in me;… I live by faith in the Son of God who has loved me and given himself up for me.” What does this mean to us, here, today: If Christ lives in me, if I live by faith, I am patient, kind, merciful, forgiving, and prayerful - and more. But when we fall short, as we all do, remember that God loves each of us unconditionally, and waits for us in the sacra-ment of Reconciliation.

Registration is now open for 2016-2017 Reli-gious Education Classes. All classes take place at Sacred Heart School on Canterbury St. First

Communion Preparation is a two year program beginning in first grade. Instruction continues in the Sunday morning program through 8th grade.

Confirmation preparation is a two year pro-gram starting in grade 9. These classes meet on Sunday evenings. If your child was not baptized at Sacred Heart parish please provide a copy of the baptismal certificate when you register. Please contact the rectory office for registration forms and more information.

OPERATION BACKPACK

St. Vincent de Paul has a special re-quest that we would like to ask you - our fellow parishioners - for help with. We are being asked to help with the purchase of 30 backpacks for children in our school that need them to transport and protect the tablets they are using for school work. Each backpack costs approximately $45. These will be used during the school year by those in need. So we are asking our parishioners that are able, to ‘sponsor a backpack’ and contribute $45 to St. Vincent de Paul. Or sponsor 1/2 of a backpack. Of course any contribution of any size will help a great deal. Please send or drop off any contribu-tion to the rectory. Make checks payable to St. Vincent de Paul Society. Your help for those in need is always appreciated.

XI DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO 1ra. lectura: (2 Samuel 12, 7-10. 13) David era el ungido del Señor, pero ha demostrado ser un hombre frágil y pecador. Pero también es capaz de arrepen-tirse y pedir perdón. 2da. lectura: (Gálatas 2, 16. 19-21) Se nos concede la justificación por la fe en Cristo Jesús. La justifica-ción es perdón y transformación de la persona y co-municación de una nueva vida. Evangelio: (Lucas 7, 36– 8, 3) Jesús por medio de una parábola enseña que Dios es misericordioso y también El sigue los pasos de su Padre.

Meditación del Papa Francisco El Evangelio que hemos escuchado nos abre un ca-mino de esperanza y de consuelo. Es bueno percibir sobre nosotros la mirada compasiva de Jesús, así co-mo la percibió la mujer pecadora en la casa del fari-seo. En este pasaje vuelven con insistencia dos pala-bras: amor y juicio. Está el amor de la mujer pecadora que se humilla ante el Señor; pero antes aún está el amor misericor-dioso de Jesús por ella, que la impulsa a acercarse. Su llanto de arrepentimiento y de alegría lava los pies del Maestro, y sus cabellos los secan con grati-tud; los besos son expresión de su afecto puro; y el ungüento perfumado que derrama abundantemente atestigua lo valioso que es Él ante sus ojos. Cada gesto de esta mujer habla de amor y expresa su deseo de tener una certeza indestructible en su vida: la de haber sido perdonada. ¡Esta es una certeza her-mosísima! Y Jesús le da esta certeza: acogiéndola le demuestra el amor de Dios por ella, precisamente por ella, una pecadora pública. El amor y el perdón son simultáneos: Dios le perdona mucho, le perdona to-do, porque «ha amado mucho»; y ella adora a Jesús porque percibe que en Él hay misericordia y no con-dena. Siente que Jesús la comprende con amor, a ella, que es una pecadora. Gracias a Jesús, Dios car-ga sobre sí sus muchos pecados, ya no los recuerda. Porque también esto es verdad: cuando Dios perdo-na, olvida. ¡Es grande el perdón de Dios! Para ella ahora comienza un nuevo período; renace en el amor a una vida nueva.
