Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. (Vigil for Sunday)
Sundays at 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. (Family Mass) and Noon

Becoming a Catholic or Adult Confirmation Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Were you never Confirmed and now find that you would like to complete your Sacraments of Initiation? Are you interested in finding out more about the Catholic faith? If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, then Faith Formation is for you! Call the Parish Center for more information.
Baptism Baptisms are celebrated on various Sundays throughout the year at 1:15 p.m. You are encouraged to register for the baptism BEFORE YOUR CHILD IS BORN, so that it is easier to attend the required Baptism Preparation Class. Please call the Center and we will be happy to set up an appointment. Many parents also use this opportunity to register in the Parish as a new parishioner. Information about Godparents is available on the website.
Marriage We are happy to arrange for your wedding. First, we have the marriage interview and then we can set the date for the wedding. More information is available on the website. Please call the Center for an appointment and we will be happy to help you!
Reconciliation Confessions are heard in our Church Reconciliation Room (in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel) on Saturdays from 4:00 until 4:45 p.m. You are also welcome to call the Center and make an appointment to celebrate the Sacrament.
Anointing of the Sick We encourage all those eligible for this Sacrament to be anointed after the Noon Mass on the first Sunday of the month or by calling the Center. Those eligible are those who are about to undergo an operation; are suffering from serious illness and the condition has worsened; or are enduring the weakening effects of advancing age and it has been one year since they were last anointed.

School Supply Ministry Thank You…..
This year the School Supply Ministry provided 261 backpacks filled with all the necessities for a great start to the school year for all the children we serve. The generosity of our parish is awesome and because of your wonderful hearts and generosity, we were able to share supplies with the greater community! Thank you to ALL who make this ministry a beautiful blessing for so many children and families! They say “it takes a village” and this is one amazing village! From accepting donations, answering calls, helping with spreadsheets, organizing, reserving space, announcements, set up, packing and delivery - your encouragement and support is gratefully acknowledged!

Understanding the Sunday Readings 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
St. E Melville-11
Bulletin Reflection In today’s Gospel, Jesus helps us to understand what really matters. Put God first in your life and never let any possession come between you and Him.
Living Stewardship Pillar of Formation: Take time out of your week to listen to what God has to say to you. Spend some quiet time in front of the Tabernacle and just listen to God’s counsel.
Hear our Prayers O Lord for…
the Deceased
the Sick Lawrence Famighette; Catherine Favia Joseph Maniscalco; Margaret Mezzacapo
Our Servicemen and Women Ssgt. James Calfa, U.S. Army Tsgt. Mitchell Ciccarelli, U.S. Air Force Ssgt. Dylan Ciccarelli, U.S. Air Force MIDN Brian Z. DiSalvo, U. S. Navy Major Thomas Frey, U.S.M.C. Lt. Brendan Johnston, U.S. Navy Cpl. Brad John Peck, U.S.M.C. Lt. Kiersten Spencer, U.S. Army Lt. Col. Kent Walsh, U.S. Army Lt. Frederick Zappala, U.S. Army
First Reading: Wisdom’s author is in touch with
the uncertainties and anxieties of human existence.
If we are unable to understand the ways of life on
earth, how can we begin to fathom heavenly things?
Only through God’s gift of wisdom and His divine
Spirit is this possible.
Responsorial Psalm 90: The transitoriness and
fragility of the human creature are the focus of
the first two stanzas of this Psalm’s realistic
appraisal of human life. The psalmist is, indeed, a
wise man, recognizing his dependence on God
and his need for God’s guidance, teaching and
mercy. We pray for God’s blessing on all the days
of or lives and on the work of our hands.
Second Reading: Paul writes these words from
prison, where he was on more than one occasion
because of his proclamation of the Gospel, or more
precisely, because of the turmoil and unrest it
created. Paul was no stranger to the difficulties
of being faithful to the Lord’s call. Even prison,
however, could not impede his proclamation of the
Word. Onesimus, a runaway slave, hears and
believes. Paul beseeches Philemon, Onesimus’
master, to receive him as Paul’s child of faith and
as a brother in Christ.
Gospel: The First Reading puts into perspective
Jesus’ hard sayings in today’s Gospel. Only in the
wisdom of God and through the power of God’s
spirit can we hear, not to mention do, what Jesus
asks. To become his disciple, one must first accede
to Jesus’ demand to renounce all possession and
indeed one’s very self. Only then can we be as
available and open as God requires.
