40’sThe 40’s were a big time for the progress of music.

Page 18: Christian perspectives final

Music of the 40’s&50’sMany swing bands tried to stay upbeat and

encouraging about the war effort

Swing music was becoming more popular

Scat singing became popular which was the combination of several nonsense but rhythmical syllables

Music of the 40’s&50’smany musicians were forgotten or denied access to

audiences through segregation

Others believe that the popularization of R&B and Rock 'n' Roll only helped to bridge the gap between blacks and whites and further the civil rights movement

Elvis was more successful in this endeavor than any other artist of the time and he epitomized the Rock 'n' Roll style and teenage rebellion of the 1950's
