CHILEChile is a long thin sliver of land on the West Coast of South America. It shares a border with Argentina, Bolivia and Peru and faces out to the Pacific Ocean. It is approximately 3,000 miles long and never more than 220 miles wide. It’s mainly of Mediterranean climate with rains concentrated in winter and spring, and a long dry season through autumn.Chile’s geographic position gives rise to unique and diverse geology that has made it renowned for wine production. The Atacama Desert to the north, the Andes Mountains to the east, the Patagonian ice fields to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west make Chile a veritable agricultural island. Together they help maintain healthy conditions and protect vineyards against pests and disease.*The Chilean landscape also offers a vast mosaic of terroirs and soil types. Soils are healthy, well-drained, and have a variety of origins (alluvial, col-luvial, fluvial, etc.) and textures (loam, clay, sand, silt). The interaction between the effects of the sea and those of the Andes result in a growing season that revels in bright sunny days and temperatures that take a dramatic dip each night to create the broad daily temperature oscillation that wine grapes need to develop fresh fruit flavors, crisp acidity, and in the case of red wines, ripe tannins, deep color, and high levels of antioxidants and flavonols.*

CHILEAN WINE LAWS• D.O. (Denomination of Origin) defines regions, sub-regions, zones and areas and only establishes the grapes’ origin. • Only approved grape varieties may be planted. Hybrid grapes are strictly forbidden. • 75% of wine must be from geographic area when using a denomination of origin. • Estate bottled may only be used when the winery and vineyards are located in the same geographic area within the D.O. • D.O. wines may use the terms Gran Reserva, Gran Vino, Reserva, Reserva Especial, Reserva Privada, Seleccion and Superior. These words do not have a specific definition and may be used with a different meaning in each winery.

WINE FACTS• The main wine regions of Chile follow the valleys of rivers running down from the Andes to the Pa-cific Ocean, transecting the 625 mile Central Valley • Grapes originally planted by the Conquistadors • Phylloxera – free• Some of the largest organic vineyards in the world• Chile’s premium wine growing regions are located between the 30 & 40 latitudes (Napa Valley is 36)• Soils differentiate between appellations and range from sea sand to volcanic rock• Rated among the finest in the world

OVERVIEW

Chile’s premier wine producer is a global ambassador for world-class Chilean wines and the benchmark by which others are judged. Founded in 1883, Concha y Toro was the first Chilean producer to introduce fine wines made from French grape varieties. Today, Concha y Toro spans over a dozen estates located throughout the premier wine regions of Chile.

From the beginning, Concha y Toro has led the way in pioneering innovations designed to enhance the over-all quality and worldwide respect enjoyed by Chilean fine wines. Throughout, consistent emphasis has been placed on identifying optimum growing locations for each grape variety. Concha y Toro’s founders were the first to identify and champion the star potential of Chile’s individual wine regions and unique terroirs.

Quality-oriented initiatives include harvesting fruit block by block, rather than bundling them together. Though costly, it enables the winemaker to determine exactly how to manage each parcel of land. Such attention to detail and quality has come to be expected from Concha y Toro, a producer with triple honors as the leading name in world-class Chilean wines, one of the world’s pre-eminent fine wine producers and South America’s largest wine exporter.

THREE KEY SELLING POINTS:1. Sourced from the premier vineyard locations throughout Chile. Each vineyard and block of fruit is celebrated for its diversity of soil type and unique ripening micro climate.

2. Artisan Winemakers with impeccable world- wide reputation and achievements, producing what many consider among the best expressions of the grape variety in their country of origin.

3. Consistent 90+ scores from Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Robert Parker and Wine & Spirits Magazine.

iGnaCio rECabarrEn–WinEmakEr for tErrunyo, amElia and Carmin dE PEumo

A Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile Agronomist and Oenologist,

Ignacio Recabarren has developed a successful career both in Chile and abroad; an internationally-admired authority on Chilean viticulture and winemaking. He joined Concha y Toro in 1995 and currently oversees three wine ranges: Carmín de Peumo, Amelia Chardonnay and Terrunyo. Under his inspired leadership, Amelia and Terrunyo have both been acknowledged as bearers of quality standards never before seen in Chilean wines. Amelia was the first Casablanca Chardonnay to receive a Wine Spectator 90-point rating, while Terrunyo Sauvignon Blanc and Carmenere, with Wine Spectator 90 and 91 points each, are considered top exponents in their respective varieties. In 2002 the Guía de Vinos de Chile, Chile’s most influential wine publication, recognized Ignacio Recabarren as Winemaker of the Decade and credited him for introducing Chilean Sauvignon Blanc to broader international markets. In 2006, the Círculo de Cronistas Gastronómicos de Chile - Association of Chilean wine and food writers- gave its valued “Achievement in Winemaking” award to Ignacio Recabarren, in recognition of his lifetime professional accomplishments.

marCElo PaPa–WinEmakEr for CasillEro dEl diablo and marquEs dE Casa ConCha

For the past 10 years, Marcelo Papa has been responsible for

crafting some of Chile’s best known and most popular wines – Concha y Toro’s immensely successful and internationally acclaimed Casillero del Diablo range. As with a number of Chile’s top winemakers, Papa earned a degree in agriculture and a post-graduate degree in enology from the highly regarded Catholic University in Santiago. He was subsequently recruited by Kendall– Jackson, where he spent the next five years before joining

Concha y Toro in 1998. In 1999, a year after working on his first vintage of Casillero del Diablo wines, Papa was given the additional assignment of working on Concha y Toro’s prestigious Marques de Casa Concha wines, and named chief winemaker of Concha y Toro’s Puente Alto cellar. Under his direction, Marques de Casa Concha wines have earned some of the most vaunted accolades in Chilean winemaking. The 2002 edition of the Chilean Wine Guide hailed Papa’s Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon as “Best Wine of its Class,” while in the U.S. Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast magazines each named it among their “Top 100 Wines of 2002.” Wine Spectator then went on to recognize Papa’s Marques de Casa Concha Merlot as one of its “Top 100 Wines of 2003.” In 2005 Papa captured Chile’s highest honor, when the Chilean Wine Guide distinguished him as its “Winemaker of the Year,” with a special tribute to his remarkable work on the Casillero del Diablo range, referencing Papa’s capacity to “create exceptional wines that are widely available in the marketplace, yet achieve extraordinary levels of quality in spite of large production levels.”

marCio ramírEz– hEad WinEmakEr for Gran rEsErva, assistant WinEmakEr for CasillEro dEl diablo

Marcio Ramírez, with a successful career as a winemaker, is now the head winemaker of Concha y Toro’s Cachapoal cellar in the Rapel valley. He joined Concha y Toro in 1997 with a degree in Oenology from the Universidad de Chile. Between 1998 and 2000 he worked with Enrique Tirado in the Puente Alto cellar as assistant winemaker of Don Melchor, before being transferred to the Cachapoal cellar as the chief winemaker. In 2002 and 2003 he carried out wine harvests in Château Mouton Rothschild, in Pauillac, Médoc, France, and in Castello Banfi, in Montalcino, Italy. Marcio is part of the winemaking team of Casillero del Diablo and the head winemaker for Gran Reserva Serie Riberas, responsible for the production of the Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.

TERRUNYO

Inspiration for our Terrunyo collection of fine wines comes from a desire to identify and celebrate some of the finest parcels of vines within the estate-owned vineyards of Concha y Toro. Each Terrunyo (from terruño, the Spanish word for terroir) wine starts out with hand-picked fruit sourced from a cluster of vines in a well-delimited vineyard in which a micro-climate, the chosen grape stock, a select piece of soil and the expert hand of man interact, magically creating perfect harmony and delivering unrivaled quality.

MARQUÉS DE CASA CONCHA

Marqués de Casa Concha wines were created as a tribute to the title conferred upon the Concha y Toro family in 1718 by King Felipe V of Spain. These wines have consistently broken the 90-point barrier, attracting numerous domestic and international awards year after year. According to international critics, the winemaker’s greatest feat is managing to deliver a personal seal through these wines; obtaining very high scores that are proof of his ability to make wines with great personality and a real sense of origin that convey quality and character.

GRAN RESERVA SERIE RIBERAS

Gran Reserva Serie Riberas, or “Riverbank Series,” is a family of specific-origin, single-vineyard wines, in which each variety is grown in close proximity to one of Chile’s major rivers – the Rapel, Cachapoal and the Tinguiririca. Each vineyard location was chosen, not only for its suitability to each varietal, but also because each riverbank site possesses naturally elevated levels of protection from the threats of global warming due to the cooling effects of mountain and ocean breezes that flow through the river corridors.

With Gran Reserva, Concha y Toro offers consumers a line of New World wines with the quality, tradition, and the assurance that few Chilean wines can deliver due to the backing of the consistent quality of Concha y Toro’s portfolio, at an affordable price point – an affordable luxury in the current economy: “World-Class Wines within Reach”.

FEATURES

• Gran Reserva Serie Riberas, or “Riverbank Series,” is a family of specific-origin, single- vineyard wines.

• Each variety grown in close proximity to one of Chile’s major rivers – the Rapel, Cachapoal, Tinguiririca.

• From viticultural locations that enjoy naturally elevated levels of protection from the threats of global warming.

• Winemaking team chosen with same level of deliberation and care as selection of specific vineyard sites.

• Each of the two lead winemakers is highly specialized, focusing only on specific grapes and regions in which they excel:

Marcio Ramírez for Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere and Malbec.

Mario Miranda for Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.

• All Gran Reserva Serie Riberas wines start with the triple Marine Mediterranean advantage:

Areas where cool coastal breezes and cold mountain winds from nearby Andes meet;

Areas where the contrast between cold ocean air and warm air currents from Chile’s Central Valley combine to produce cooling winds;

Ancient riverbank soil -- mineral-rich and free-draining, so that vine roots dig deep, resulting in more complex wines.

BENEFITS

• Wines at an attractive price point for on-and off-premise accounts.

• A real story that consumers and trade can embrace.

• Elegant, attractive label and packaging that speaks to the quality of wine within.

• Contemporary New World wines for a new millennial generation of wine lovers.

• In a recent study, “Analysis of the Terroir of Riversides of Chile,” the University of Chile has defined a specific climate type --“Marine Mediterranean.” Each varietal within the Gran Reserva Serie Riberas collection originates from a distinct “Marine Mediterranean” microclimate.

Gran Reserva Serie Riberas, or “Riverbank Series”, is a family of wines in which each variety is grown in close proximity to one of Chile’s major rivers. These rivers, formed by the rushing meltwater from the snow-covered peaks of the Andes Mountains, have sculpted out mineral-rich basins and valleys along their route to the sea. Fresh sea breezes are able to reach these riverbank vineyards, allowing for a slow, even maturation of the grapes. The unique climate and soil conditions of each vineyard site result in wines that show a distinctive sense of place, with tremendous concentration of flavor as well as a broad and complex aromatic profile.

Gran ReservaCarmenere Production Area: Peumo Vineyard, in Peumo within the Cachapoal Valley, Chile.

Grape Varieties: Primarily Carmenere with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Description: Intense, purple-red in color with fragrant aromas of blueberries, damson plums, chocolate, and a hint of white pepper. Dense, rich texture on the palate highlighting favors of black fruits, with soft, sweet tannins and a good finish.

Gran Reserva Serie Riberas Carmenere is an excellent match for firm cheeses, roasted and grilled meats and spicy dishes.
