Katie Kemerling Chief Marketing Officer Ervin & Smith Advertising and Public Relations Katie Kemerling has held various leadership roles over her past 11 years with Ervin & Smith. From her start as a copywriter, she was quickly promoted to a director in 2009. Under her leadership as Chief Marketing Officer, the agency has become recognized as a Best Place to Work by AdAge and Entrepreneur Magazine. The majority of her experience is in launching new brands and products, building lead-generating content campaigns, leveraging the power of social influence and improving overall marketing ROI. In addition she has completed Stanford University’s Innovation Masters Series in 2015, was selected to participate in the Vivo Design Thinking Workshop for The Good Samaritan Society + AIGA, completed 50+ hours of Design Thinking and the Art of Innovation courses from IDEO, and led and/or participated in 100+ hours of innovation sessions with agency clients. Over the years, Kemerling has been active in the Omaha marketing community, holding several leadership and board positions. She currently serves as the President for the Omaha Network and is a member of the 1877 Society’s steering committee, a group that supports the Omaha Public Library Foundation. She has also been involved in the Omaha Creative Institute, AAF Omaha, and the Omaha chapter of the AMA, and was a Midland’s Business Journal 40 Under 40 Award recipient in 2017. Katie lives in Omaha with her husband and Wheaten Terrier. She is passionate about travel, and fitness, but also enjoys dining out with her husband and happy hours with friends.

Laurie K. Baedke, MHA, FACHE, FACMPE Director of Healthcare Leadership Programs Creighton University Laurie K. Baedke, MHA, FACHE, FACMPE, is a faculty member and Director of Healthcare Leadership Programs at Creighton University. A sought-after speaker, author, and advisor, Laurie Baedke works with individuals and teams including early careerists, physician leaders, and senior executives. She has specific expertise in physician practice management, leadership development, organizational change, emotional intelligence, and strengths based leadership. Laurie holds a bachelor’s degree in human services and business administration and a master’s degree in healthcare administration. At age 26, she became the youngest individual to achieve board certification as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and is also a board certified Fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives. Laurie has been certified by The Gallup Organization as a Strengths Performance Coach since 2006. Laurie is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Nebraska ACHE Regent’s Early Career Excellence Award (2001), the Region 5 ACHE Regent’s Award for Healthcare Excellence (2006), and the ACHE Distinguished Service Award (2015). Professionally, she has served on four national committees for ACHE; the Early Careerist, Products, Programming, and Services, and Chapter Committees. She is a current member of ACHE’s Exam Committee and the ACHE of Nebraska and Western Iowa Chapter board of directors. She also serves a variety of civic and community organizations, including current appointments on the Omaha Bridges Out of Poverty Board of Directors Executive Committee and the Leadership Omaha Curriculum Committee. Her first book, titled The Emerging Healthcare Leader: A Field Guide, was published ACHE’s Health Administration Press in 2015. And, she most recently contributed a chapter; The Clinician Entrepreneur, to a book published by Oxford Press in April, 2017 titled The Handbook of Private Practice. Laurie lives just outside of Omaha, Nebraska with her husband and two children.
