‘Spring has Sprung…..’
Updates, Notices and ... News in Brief
‘… the grass is riz, I wonder where the birdies is?’ goes the song. Well, the chicks have hatched and now left the building for a better
place … but, as always, the children have loved watching them hatch and looked after them really well. And, of course, the children are
now thinking about eggs of the chocolate variety as we head towards the spring holiday break. We have had lots of spring and Easter
events this week – the Nursery held a wonderful Easter show; the infants created and wore some beautiful Easter bonnets and the jun-
iors decorated egg-cellent (sorry, it’s compulsory to use a pun like this at Easter) eggs around the theme of the winter Olympics.
Meanwhile our sports successes continue with fantastic performances from our gymnasts, netball and rugby players.
The spring has flown by and now we look forward to the excitement of the summer term – summaries of the curriculum are available
on our website as always - click here to find out more. It just remains for me to say, have a wonderful holiday and I look forward to
seeing the children back at school for the start of the new term on Tuesday 17th April at the normal time.
Congratulations to
Charlotte, Jack and
Veronica who helped
at the recent Lord
Mayor’s Easter Egg
hunt at York House.
Congratulations to
the following children
that took part in the
recent Key Steps
Gymnastics competition. They all did very well and we are
very proud of them. Thank you to Annika Pellowe and Jenny
Jenner for preparing the children for this event. Well done to
Oscar, Fabio, Charlie, Laila-Rose, Eva, Charlotte,
Stanley, Johnny, Joe, Zara, Raveena, Jessica, Aurelia,
Caitlin, Olivia, Elise, James and Rohit.
Rugby—A
tremendous effort
by the tag rugby
team to make it
to the quarter
finals this week.
We played in-
credibly well and
despite winning 4-
3 at half time, we
unfortunately
ended up losing 6-
4. Well done to
Johnny, Evie, Jack, Jess J, Ethan, Oliver, Alexis, Jess B,
Noah and Daniel. Thanks also to Johnny's Dad, Liam, for
refereeing.
Netball—The Netball session
came to a close on Monday
night at the Richmond Borough
Finals. Chase Bridge fought
with every bit of strength, skill
and determination they had to
become bronze medallists.
They are now ranked third
amongst Richmond Primary
Schools. A huge congratula-
tions to Ethan, Jack, Oliver,
Ivona, Jess, Evie and Ella-
May for their outstanding per-
formances.

John Justice, who has been a governor of Chase Bridge for the past twelve years, and in more recent years, chair of the governing body
seeing us through some significant changes including the school’s expansion, has decided to step down as a governor. The governing
body met recently and wish to thank John for his expertise to support the school.
Due to the effects of the Government’s new National Funding Formula, although balances are diminishing year on year, the governing
body was pleased to be able to set a balanced draft budget plan for the next three years.
The governing body welcomed Mrs Gauvain, the school’s Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, who gave an interesting presenta-
tion on special educational needs – what they are, how they are identified, changes being made in the way that the school supports
children with special educational needs and the impact of the school’s provision.
This led on to a presentation by Mr King on ideas being considered for the school’s provision to be even more inclusive and holis-
tic. The school has been growing over the past few years. It has now reached full capacity and governors and staff have already begun
to take a closer look at how staff can be deployed to better support children with special educational needs and improve provision
before and after school and at break times. At the same time the school will continue to endeavour to meet target outcomes for all
children – ‘excel at learning, express your talents, care for others’.
Minutes of meetings can be viewed on the school website once a draft has been agreed by the headteacher and chair of governors.

Book Fair Thank you to all parents who purchased books at the book fair last week. We raised a total amount of £2,279.00 of which 60% will
be available for us to purchase new fiction and non-fiction books for our library. A special thank you to Mrs Golding who organised the
book fair and Mrs Crawley and Mrs Moore who also ran the very active till!
