WEBCASTS “A media presentation distributed over

the internet”. Webinar: web-based seminar. Podcast: downloadable.

WHY WEBCASTS Computer security is a dynamic field. Students can benefit from learning

about current trends, hearing from experts, and seeing what vendors offer.

Spice up a course from the usual routing of textbook readings, lectures, and labs.

ROLE OF WEBCASTS Webcasts do not replace lectures,

homework and programming assignments, and labs.

Show an occasional webcast in class. Assign a webcast as homework and

require a report on it.

COURSES Computer security for computer

information technology majors. Software security for computer science

majors.

SILVER BULLET SECURITY PODCASTS Gary McGraw, author & software

security expert as interviewer. 25-30 minute interviews. Guests: Ross Anderson, Richard Bejtlich,

Brian Chess, Jeremiah Grossman, and Eugene Spafford.
