Internationalization trends

• Early 90-ties: initial concept for universities of applied sciences (UAS) in

Austria was based on „regionalisation“

• Only so called „international study programs“ have international elements

(study abroad semester, English as language of instruction, international

content of the courses)

• Lots of scholarship programs were initially opened only for universities

• ERASMUS-Program was very soon atractive also for UAS

• first International Offices have been established

• End of 90-ties: Austrian UAS Conferenz established International

Solution: focus on 3-5 partners

Set up criteria cataloge for strategic partnership and talk to people

who know the partners:

� Exchange of students and staff took place regularly in the past

and/or

� There are or will be study programs similar to CUAS study programs

which gives a solid basis for the cooperation - not only mobilities

but also common courses, development of Double Degreebut also common courses, development of Double Degree

Programmes, and/or

� Partner or coordinator in at least 2 research projects within the last

3 years and/or

� Possibillities for CUAS graduates to do a doctorate at the partner
