Chakra Workshop for Children 1 of 4 Chakra and Aura Workshop for Kids The following outlines a chakra and aura workshop for a group of children or a single child. The aura activities are for all ages, while some of the chakra activities are best for children ten years and older. The entire workshop lasts about two hours. You can easily break the class into two one-hour sessions. If you choose to teach the workshop in one session, offer an alternative activity for the children who might lose interest in your workshop. To accommodate these children, ask another facilitator to organize an arts and crafts area. Set up the art center on the other side of the room and tell the children they can move between your workshop and the art center as they wish. If you offer this freedom, you will create a fluid energy in the room and observe everyone doing exactly what he or she wants to do. Auras 1. Learning about Auras: Ask, “What is an aura?” After the child shares his understanding of an aura, add, “It is the energy that surrounds our bodies. It is an energy most people can’t see with their eyes. ” 2. Learning about Subtle Energy: Ask, “What are some examples of energies we can’t see?” After the child shares, add, “Microwaves, radio waves, heat, TV waves, feelings, other vibrations, and a magnetic field between two magnets.” 3. Learning How to Feel Auras: Lead the children through the following exercise. a. Rub your hands together to stimulate the nerve endings and chakras in your hands, and ask the children to do the same. Mention that this makes our hands more sensitive to touching things, especially subtle energy. b. Hold one of your hands a few inches from your chest, palm facing toward your chest and ask the children to do the same. c. Slowly move your hand away from your chest and notice where you feel a difference in energy. Ask the children to so the same. Explain that, it is easier if they do this with their eyes closed while moving their hand back and forth slightly and out. All the motions should be slow. The aura might feel like a denser form of energy, like pushing on a balloon, or it might feel like a different temperature. Once all the children feel their own auras, match up each child with a partner. Students will now feel their partner’s aura. Directions for the aura feelers: a. Ask your partner for permission to feel her aura. b. Rub your hands together to stimulate the nerve endings and chakras in your hands. Mention again that this makes their hands more sensitive to touching things, especially subtle energy. c. Hold one of your hands a few inches from your partner’s chest, palm facing toward the chest.

Chakra and Aura Workshop for Kids The following outlines a chakra and aura workshop for a group of children or a single child.

Directions for the aura feelers:

a. Ask your partner for permission to feel her aura. b. Rub your hands together to stimulate the nerve endings and chakras in your

hands. Mention again that this makes their hands more sensitive to touching things, especially subtle energy.

c. Hold one of your hands a few inches from your partner’s chest, palm facing toward the chest.

d. Slowly move your hand away from your partner’s chest, and see where you feel a difference in energy.

e. Switch roles and repeat.

4. Seeing Auras: Discuss that some people are able to see auras. Ask if anyone in the group can see them. Explain that some people stand in front of a white or dark sheet or blanket when looking at someone’s aura. This makes observing auras easier. You can also mention that there are special cameras that take pictures of auras. 5. Feeling Crystal Energy: Consider bringing a crystal with you and pass it around so students can feel the energy around the crystal. 6. Fun Activity: This is a great time to do the Zip In and Out of Your Aura activity (page ). During this activity, children unzip an imaginary zipper down in front of their bodies. Then they step out of their aura and shake it out gently. They step back into their aura and zip it back up. Chakras 1. Relationship Between Auras and Chakras: When transitioning from auras to chakras it is important to explain the relationship between the two. Students in 6th grade or higher have learned about the brain and spinal cord in science class. For these students, this is a good place to start explaining how chakras relate to auras. Explain, “In the same way our brains and spinal cord send nerve impulses through our nerves, our subtle energy passes through our chakras and then extends further surrounding our bodies.” Tell younger children that their aura spills out from their chakras, similar to a waterfall filling a beautiful pool of water. 2. Faucet Analogy: Share with the child that the chakras are like seven faucets in our body. Explain that our subtle energy flows through these faucets. Therefore, we want to keep them cleaned out so the energy flows through easily. 3. Chakra Locations: Show the students where the seven chakras are on their body. See table 5.1. If you wish, reproduced this chart and give to your students. Place your hand at each chakra location and ask the child to do the same.

4. Learning How to Feel Chakras: Often feeling someone else’s chakras is easier than feeling our own, so match the students up with a partner. When the child feels his partner’s chakras he may feel heat, density (like the outside of a balloon) or other sensation. Auras and chakras are made of the same energy so the feeling their chakra will be similar to feeling their aura. Match students up with a partner, them follow these steps to guide them to feel their partner’s chakras. Directions for the chakra feelers:

a. Rub your hands together to stimulate the nerve endings and chakras in your hands.

b. Place your hand about four inches above your partner’s heart chakra. Move it around a bit until you can feel the energy of the chakra.

c. Repeat with two other chakras. d. Switch roles and repeat.

5. Chakra Meditation: Lead the children through the Chakra Clearing meditation (page ). This meditation allows the students to become familiar with the location of their chakras. You may want to shorten the meditation a bit if you feel it is too long. 6. Chakra Colors: Each chakra has a different color associated with it. For example, the root chakra vibrates at the same frequency group that red vibrates at. Like notes on a piano, middle C vibrates at the same frequency group as the upper and lower C’s. Mention that the chakra colors are in the same order as the colors in the rainbow. Ask, “Does anyone know the order of the colors in the rainbow?” It doesn’t matter which color the child starts with, as long as the order is correct: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. On the chakra sheet in Table 5.1, point out which chakras are which colors. Some books state that the brow chakra is indigo and the crown chakra is purple (violet), while other books say the brow is purple and the crown is white. I am of the school that teaches that the crown chakra is white. 7. Chakra Jobs: Each chakra also has a number and a special job associated with it. For the sake of this class, the numbers and colors are not as important as the physical locations and the chakras’ jobs. Go over the “chakra jobs” as outlined in Table 5.1. Ask the students to share with you at least one way one of their chakras can help them. For example, Tonya’s sixth chakra, between her eyes, helps her see pictures in her mind when she meditates.

8. Strengthening and Clearing our Chakras with Affirmations: In this activity, one partner lies on the floor while the other assesses and leads her partner through a chakra clearing.

a. Match each child with a partner. Ask the leader to hold a pendulum over her

partner’s chakras, one at a time, for about two minutes. Eventually the pendulum will either spin in a circle, moves back and forth or not move at all. Unless the spin is moving in a circle, it is said to be obstructed and in need of clearing.

b. After the leader assesses all her partner’s chakras, ask the leader to determine which two chakras are the weakest and most blocked.

c. Then ask the leader to hold the pendulum over one of her partner’s blocked chakras. Next, ask the leader to read an affirmation associated with the blocked chakra to her partner so her partner can then repeat the affirmation either aloud or silently. The partner holding the pendulum should see it strengthen its swing, indicating that that chakra is cleared.

d. Ask the leader to repeat this clearing with the other blocked chakra she has chosen.

e. Switch roles and repeat. Chakras are strengthened and cleared in several ways. The following are additional activities you can use in place of the previous method using affirmations.

§ Lead the children through the Strengthening the Chakras meditation. § If the students are old enough to read, match each child with a partner. Ask them

to take turns leading each other through the Strengthening the Chakras meditation. § Lead the children through the Chakra Clearing meditation. This time, however ask

the children to imagine an animal moving through its chakras, clearing out any blockages. Animals such as butterflies or dolphins can help move old energy out of chakras.

§ Lead the children through the Strengthening the Chakras meditation. This time however, ask the children to sing the note that corresponds to each chakra. You can even use the well-known scale doe, ray, me, fa, so, la, ti, doe.
