Students who enrol in any design programme must also fulfill the following condition:

To pass the Art subject at SPM Level or;To attend and pass an Art Test which will be conducted by KDU College or;To submit their own portfolio to the Head of Department for approval.International students are required to sit for CIE placement examination.

In C.O.D.E. we believe in providing students with a unique classroom learning experience, inspiring students to be different which stays true to C.O.D.E.’s motto, dare to be different. Incorporated into our diploma programmes, students are brought overseas to different locations to instil respect for foreign culture through appreciation of local arts and heritage. They will be exposed to visits to local interior firms, educational institutions, food and beverage spaces. In this programme, students will learn skills in areas of Graphic Design, Digital Art & Design. This programme offers students the opportunities to acquire knowledge and practical skills in creative media design and production by exploring diverse areas such as printing, painting, web designing, artistic and creative thinking and photography. Students will also be exposed to the creative process, development and production in ‘real-life’ setting to meet the current industrial trends and needs. The structure of the syllabus gives students the opportunity for professional experience through internship placement, competition, assignments, critique and students exchange programmes. Students will learn the skills of interior designing and architecture design process and proceed into a degree programme in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. This programme provides students with hands-on experience of design elements, colours, materials and various design techniques and the use of up-to-date softwares to achieve their own personal style. Louis Gan Yee Loong was a student of C.O.D.E.@KDU College Penang who pursued Diploma in Graphic Design. Having hearing and speech disabilities did not deterred Louis from pursuing his passion in art. He gained popularity with his first street art in heritage Georgetown called ‘Step by Step Lane’ at Lebuh Gat Chulia which features a brother and a sister sharing a cheerful moment on a swing. His second mural showing two children playing basketball followed suit. In 2013 he unveiled his first solo art exhibition titled ‘A Silent Beginning by Louis Gan’, and simultaneously revealed his newest mural, ‘Nostalgic Meal Order’ on the walls of Penang Entrepreneurs Counseling Society (PECS) Centre on Lorong Kinta.
