here’s a special way of living

found only in the South.

Where the welcome is as

warm as a spring day.

The breezes are as sweet

as a cool glass of tea.

And nothing beats pulling

up your favorite rocking

chair and relaxing with

friends for a spell.

It’s a way of living that’s

beautifully embodied in

the new Lowcountry

Series by Centex

Homes—a collection of

handsome antebellum-

style homes now

available in some

of Mt. Pleasant’s

premier residential

communities,

including The Gallery

at Charleston

National, Seaside

Farms, and The Isles

at Rivertowne

Country Club.

“Centex Homes set out to

create a portfolio of homes

with a true regional flavor

specifically for our coastal

South Carolina market,”

explained Jay Thrower, Coastal

Carolina Division President.

“After extensive research, our

product development team

created the ten home plans

currently available in our new

Lowcountry Series.

“Each one blends old-

fashioned charm and modern

convenience, with genuine

Coastal Carolina style.”

Recalling the best of

traditional Southern

architecture, these stately homes feature

elevated drive-under designs, raised high to

capture afternoon breezes. The homes include a

wide array of authentic details such as wide front

and rear porches, perfect for relaxing with family

and friends. There are charming shuttered

windows, dormers and French doors. And inside,

high ceilings and elegant moldings remind one of

gracious days gone by.

“When we were developing the Lowcountry

Series, one of our primary objectives was to

create homes that had a friendly, nostalgic

feeling, but with the kind of flexible interior

space and features that today’s sophisticated

homebuyer demands.”

To that end, all the new Lowcountry Series homes

offer bright, open interior spaces…lots of glass to

construction of each

Lowcountry Series home,”

added Thrower. “It’s the

kind of craftsmanship that

has made Centex Homes

one of America’s Top Ten

Homebuilders and

earned extremely high

satisfaction ratings from

our customers.”

Like every Centex home,

that quality begins

with the finest name-

brand materials and

continues through

award-winning

customer service.

Currently, the

Lowcountry Series

portfolio of homes

includes ten one- and

two-story floorplans,

each with two exterior

or many companies,

the process of home

building begins—and

ends—with the act of

construction itself.

But for Centex Homes,

the process of home

building begins—and

ends—very simply:

with you.

From choosing the

most desirable

locations to creating

easy-living home

plans with today’s

most requested

features…from providing outstanding customer

communications and service to providing the

industry’s best home warranty program…Centex

Homes understands that when you put your

customer first, everything else will fall into place.

With our staff of sales consultants, interior

designers, and construction professionals—as well as

our own in-house mortgage

lending operation—the

Centex Homes team can

guide you through the entire

home buying and building

process and take care of all

your needs in one place.

IT ALL BEGINS

WITH RESEARCH

Thorough market research is

the first step in successfully

creating dream homes for hundreds of Charleston

area families each year.

From intensive focus groups to phone, internet

and homeowner surveys, the full-time research

staff of Centex Homes’ Coastal Carolina Division is

before settlement and at closing—and contact them

approximately every ten days throughout the

homebuilding process.

McLoud added that Centex Homes has also recently

instituted new programs to keep in touch with

owners well after closing.

Now, during the final walk-through with their Field

Manager, new homeowners are also introduced to a

dedicated Customer Service Representative who is

assigned to their community.

The customer service representative contacts the owners

several times after closing to ensure that everything

is fine—or to address any issues that come up.

“Our owners really appreciate the fact there is

always someone they can contact who knows them,

knows their home and understands their concerns,”

says McLoud.

“After all,” he concludes, “At Centex Homes we build

more than just houses. We work hard to build long-

lasting relationships with our homeowners.”

dedicated to

learning what

homebuyers

really want.

“The days of

‘build it and they

will come’ are

gone,” explained

Strategic

Marketing

Manager

Shannon

Sullivan. “Today’s

SATISFACTION IS BUILT IN

You might think that once you’ve

developed the kind of home plans

people want—in the most

desired locations—your job

would be done.

But not for Centex Homes.

We work hard to build satisfaction

into every home we sell.

In fact, according to Lee McLoud,

Director of Construction Services

for Centex Homes’ Charleston

F

homebuyer is

much more

knowledgeable

and educated, and today’s market—especially

here in Charleston—is much more competitive.”

That’s why it’s critical to continually assess and

reassess the expectations of homebuyers and the

products offered to fulfill them.

“Because people want more flexibility,” Sullivan

continued, “we’re currently redesigning some of

our plans to offer flexspace, like bonus rooms,

that can be used for many different purposes.”

Sullivan added that Centex strives to create home

plans and communities that satisfy people at all

stages of life, whether they’re couples just starting

out, families with young children, empty-nesters or

active retirees.

An excellent example: the new Charleston Singles

homes coming to The Bridges of Summerville.

Clustered around winding sidewalks, these

charming single-family homes will offer an

appealing alternative to luxury apartment living for

young professional couples. The architectural style

will be reminiscent of traditional Charleston row

homes, with a wide variety of plans, sizes and prices.

market, the company boasts a

remarkable 93% satisfaction

rating from its homeowners

after closing.

“We’re proud of the high ratings we receive from

our homeowners,” says McLoud. “But that kind of

satisfaction doesn’t just happen on its own.”

The key, says McLoud, lies in superior training and

communication skills.

To that end, Centex Homes Field Managers

receive more than 60 hours of training in quality

assurance and customer service. During the

building process they meet with homeowners at

several predetermined points—including before

construction begins, before sheetrock is placed,

uring the past holiday season,

Centex Homes was proud to lend a

hand—and a hammer—to build a

brand new Habitat for Humanity

home for a fortunate family in

downtown Charleston.

The project was part of Centex Homes’ corporate

commitment to the organization to build 100 homes

nationwide over a five-year period.

The new home was completed in approximately one

month—just in time for the happy owner and her son

to celebrate the holidays. Carefully adapted to fit in with

its downtown neighborhood, the 1,045-square-foot

structure featured three bedrooms, one bath and a

small front porch. It was the first two-story home built
