INTRODUCTORY RITES

(+) In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. AMEN!The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you. And with your spirit.

Today we celebrate the gift that Jesus gives us in the Eucharist—his very Self as our food and drink. Let us revere this sacred mystery that we may always experience in ourselves the fruits of our redemption.

Deacon: Lord Jesus, you are the living Bread come down from heaven: Lord, have mercy. Lord have mercy.Christ Jesus, the bread you give us is your flesh, Christ have mercy. Christ have mercy.Lord Jesus, whoever eats your flesh will live forever, Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy.

May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to life everlasting. AMEN!

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are

the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.Collect: O God, who in this wonderful Sacrament have left us a memorial of your Passion, grant, we pray, so to revere the sacred mysteries of your Body and Blood that we may always experience in ourselves the fruits of your redemption. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Liturgy of the WordFirst Reading: Deuteronomy 8:2-3, 14b-16aA reading from the book of Deuteronomy Moses said to the people: "Remember how for forty years now the LORD, your God, has directed all your journeying in the desert, so as to test you by affliction and find out whether or not it was your intention to keep his commandments. He therefore let you be afflicted with hunger, and then fed you with manna, a food unknown to you and your fathers, in order to show you that not by bread alone does one live, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of the LORD. Do not forget the LORD, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery; who guided you through the vast and terrible desert with its saraph serpents and scorpions, its parched and waterless ground; who brought forth water for you from the flinty rock and fed you in the desert with manna, a food unknown to your fathers."The word of the Lord. R: Thanks be to God.

Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 147: 12-13, 14-15, 19-20 R. Praise the Lord, Jerusalem.Glorify the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion. For he has strengthened the bars of your gates; he has blessed your children within you.R.  Praise the Lord, Jerusalem. He has granted peace in your borders; with the best of wheat he fills you.He sends forth his command to the earth; swiftly runs his word!R.  Praise the Lord, Jerusalem. He has proclaimed his word to Jacob, his statutes and his ordinances to Israel. He has not done thus for any other nation; his ordinances he has not made known to them. R.  Praise the Lord, Jerusalem.

Second Reading: 1 Corinithians 10:16-17A reading from the first letter of St Paul to the CorinthiansBrothers and sisters: The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because the loaf of bread is one, we, though many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf. The word of the Lord. R: Thanks be to God.

Gospel Reading: John 6:51-58A reading from the holy Gospel according to St JohnJesus said to the Jewish crowds: "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world." The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever."The Gospel of the Lord. R: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ

General IntercessionsIn this difficult time when the vast majority of Catholics throughout the world are physically unable to share in the Eucharist, we are nonetheless filled with faith and a desire to be one with Jesus, the Bread of Life.

DEACON: That Pope Francis and all bishops and priests be strengthened by the Christ’s Body and Blood so as to tirelessly proclaim the good news of eternal life, we pray to the Lord… LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.

That governments and the world-wide community not neglect those who during this COVID-19 pandemic are experiencing a new level of poverty and who hunger for their daily food, we pray to the Lord.… LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.

For those who have not been able to physically share in the Eucharist for many months, and for the children of our parish whose first reception of Jesus’ Body and Blood has been delayed, that their Christian hope may be firm, we pray to the Lord.… LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.

That those receiving the Sacraments of Initiation this weekend grow to a greater appreciation of and reverence for the great gift of the Eucharist, we pray to the Lord… LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.

That God’s healing mercy come to those suffering from COVID-19 and other illnesses, we pray to the Lord.… LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.

That our Lord Jesus welcome into his glory all our loved ones who have died, we pray to the Lord.… LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.

We pause now to add our own intentions in the silence of our hearts (PAUSE), we pray to the Lord.… LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Eternal Father, enlighten our hearts with the truth of your love and enable us to share with others the great gift of the Eucharist. We ask you to hear and answer these our petitions this through Christ our Lord. AMEN.

Preface of Corpus ChristiV: The Lord be with you. R: And with your spirit.V: Lift up your hearts. R: We lift them up to the Lord.V: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. R: It is right and just.

It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord. For at the Last Supper with his Apostles, establishing for the ages to come the saving memorial of the Cross, he offered himself to you as the unblemished Lamb, the acceptable gift of perfect praise. Nourishing your faithful by this sacred mystery, you make them holy, so that the human race, bounded by one world, may be enlightened by one faith and united by one bond of charity. And so, we approach the table of this wondrous Sacrament, wo that, bathed in the sweetness of your grace, we

may pass over to the heavenly realities here foreshadowed. Therefore, all creatures of heaven and earth sing a new song in adoration, and we, with all the hosts of Angels, cry out, and without end we acclaim: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord of hosts, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!Eucharistic Prayer III

The mystery of faith: When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again!

Amen

The Communion RiteAt the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching we dare to say: Our Father…

Deliver us, Lord, from every evil, and graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are your now and forever.

Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles: Peace I leave you, my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will. Who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.

The peace of the Lord be with you always. And with your spirit.Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.

Spiritual Communion Prayer: My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.  I love you above all things and I desire to receive you in my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

Prayer after Communion: Grant, O Lord, we pray, that we may delight for all eternity in that share in your divine life, which is foreshadowed in the present age by our reception of your precious Body and Blood. Who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen!
