Case study on Nearbites

Summary

Nearbites is an online marketplace that connects hungry people, with lack of accessibility to restaurants or seeking for a homemade meal, with home cookers.

Shortcomings on main page

1. Logo can be significantly improved

The Logo is not able to ‘breath’ in the navbar; in other words, the navbar should be wider.

The red box that encompasses the logo is too small. The name should be entitled to the brand envisioning and not to pure

logic. The logo is not properly centered in the y-axis. Oversaturated colors Primarily colors clashing strongly (Red and Yellow are primarily colors)

2. Color pallet In the current color pallet, as mentioned above, two primarily colors are being combined plus a gray and white to complete the color pallet. Furthermore, one of the buttons “post a new listing” is using another variation of yellow that makes up to the inconsistency issue.Possible options:

3. Extras

Background Image is too busy: it is impossible to read the letters either the image is darkened, opacity or some sort of Gaussian effect.

We could immerse the user way further on the page by adding several others divs with further INTERACTIVE information rather than simple text.

When shortened into smaller screens the logo turns into a cropped/incomplete logo.

There is no actual uniqueness or personality of the webpage since many

other websites use a quite similar template such as in, the quiver, casa guau and Maggie’s kid market all featured in sharetribe’s website.

Shortcomings on Sign up and sign in page

#25567c This is the blue color used in the Facebook login API which is not the same as the original Facebook color pallet shown below:

The ‘I accept terms of us’ box is filled with an odd color that does not play along with the whole spectrum of the color pallet.

Second div below the Navbar could be different in terms of the background image; there is no necessity to simply repeat the logo.

General terms

In general terms, the About and specially the “How it works” sections could be drastically improved by adding more interactive content such as images or a flow chart.

The font could be improved as well.

The white background seems to encompass the majority of all of the sites within the website and brings a feeling of emptiness.

Accessibility

The website is cross-browser compatible but the responsiveness of it can be improved.

Text-based alternatives are not conveying with images or multimedia files to provide

essential information.

Navigation

There is no clear statement of PURPOSE of the site within a few seconds.

There is no logical site map available. There is no search feature available.

Design

The site’s design is not aesthetically appealing

The colors are not used harmonious and logically related

Content

The website copywriting style does not suit the website’s purpose and does not ‘speak’ to

its target audience

In some cases such as, the about page, privacy policy and/or terms of use bodies of text

are not constrained to <80 characters per line

The text is not broken into small, readable chunks nor highlighted using headings, sub-

headings, and emphasis features to assist in skimming

There are no testimonials on the site

Other Marketing Considerations

The website is not properly optimized for search engines (lacking of essential text

emphasized, title tags relevant, title text presented in H1, outbound links reliable and

contextually related, etc.)

The index page (home page) does not entice a visitor deeper into the site or shopping

cart.

There is no shopping cart at all.

The website does not contain elements designed to encourage future or viral visitation (i.e.

a contest, newsletter, tell-a-friend feature, share on social media, and forum with

subscription option, downloadable toolbar, RSS feed or a blog).

There is no social media presence on the website

There is no copyright

Some pages URLS are available in the same page to access the same page. (Duplicated

content issue)
