The CAPAC® HS (High-Speed) is a high-speed capacitance measuring system with an extended bandwidth formeasuring the coaxial capacitance of communication cables in insulation lines. This offers all the benefits of "OnLine" capacitance measurement, such as:

• Accurate, continuous measurement and monitoring of the wire capacitance• "Pinhole" function; pore and hole detection in the production• Communication with superior computers, including PROFIBUS DP• Direct connection with a "ZUMBACH FFT Spectrum Analyzer" to determine the structural return loss• Process control as well as statistical monitoring and production log

Description

Data acquisition systems from ZUMBACH such asUSYS-CAPAC® HS, USYS 2000, CELLMASTER®,CI PC-FFT Analyzer or also other customer sidesystems, such as PLC‘s and Host computers, processand display the measured value(s).

The MR... measuring tube isthe actual sensor. It measuresthe coaxial capacitance ofthe conductor over a definedlength.

The CAPAC® HS electronic unit treatsthe signals acquired by the measuringtube. It transmits the capacitance overdifferent interfaces to the connecteddata processing system.

PASSIVE Measuring Tubes

These measuring tubes have a shorter active measuring length. They are specially designed for the measurementof high frequency communication cables where high longitudinal resolution is necessary. These "passive tubes"feature a very high signal to noise ratio as well as a large band width. This is especially advantageouswhen small capacitance fluctuations must be monitored e.g. for FFT analysis.

Electronic UnitsThe CAPAC® HS electronic unit is connected to themeasuring tube via a 2 m long cable. The electronicunit has a robust aluminium housing which meetsIP 65 protection standards. Depending on the model,the user disposes of a "J" interface for the connectionof ZUMBACH processors, serial interfaces for thecommunication with superior computer systems ora PROFIBUS DP interface. All models standardlyinclude a fast analog output with a selectable bandwidth for connection to FFT systems as well as apinhole detection feature with selectable sensitivityfor the detection of holes and pores.
