International Federation of Settlements (IFS) Conference

The International Federation of Settlements and Neighborhood Centers (IFS) is an association of
national, regional and local organizations working to strengthen communities around the world. Its
mission is to build an inclusive global community by empowering, inspiring and connecting people
who work locally for social justice. Among several key goals, IFS works with member organizations
to present an international conference every two years. The Association of Neighbourhood Houses of
British Columbia (ANHBC) is the main partner organizing the IFS Conference: INSPIRE 2014.
Inspiration is the overarching theme for INSPIRE 2014, with 4 identied subthemes and workshop
streams (see next page). The invitation to presenters is for innovation in design, with interactive
presentations and facilitated discussions. The conference will include formats such as PechaKucha
presentations with facilitated discussions, a Think Tank for those who want to work on “Moving the
Movement”, and other interactive learning opportunities. Workshops will be scheduled on Tuesday,
May 6 and Wednesday, May 7, 2014

13. One of our goals is to include several PechaKucha presentations as a method of conveying
potentially connected stories/themes or projects, and to follow this with a one hour facilitated
interactive discussion with participants and presenters. Would you consider participating in a

in mind and what you plan to convey (20 images, 20 seconds for each image).
