Gado-gado is one of Indonesian traditional food. The name comes from Jakarta’s original tribe which is Betawi. It consists of mixed boiled vegetables covered in peanut sauce. It’s a very common food in Indonesia and you can find them everywhere! From restaurants to stalls on the side of the roads, a lot of people buy it to fill their stomach. It’s practical and delicious

Gado-gado is one of the healthiest food out there because it contains mixes of vegetables. For example, the bean sprouts; it contains vitamins such as vitamin B and vitamin E. Then, the tofu and tempe, which are made from soy, contains high content of protein. Especially tempe, other than it contains high content of protein, it also contains vitamins, mineral, fat, and good for digestion.

With just one portion of gado-gado, you will definitely be full enough, especially with the addition of potatoes that acts as a carbohydrate in the dish.

For Gado-Gado 50 gr of

long beans (slice about 4cm)

50 gr of cabbage (rough cut)

50 gr of bean sprouts

1 tempe

(cut into squares)

1 tofu (cut into squares)

1 potato (cut into squares)

1 egg Chips

(Kerupuk)

30 gr fried peanuts 250 ml coconut milk 3 red peppers (slice and

stir-fry) 1 tablespoon fried shallot ½ tablespoon of garlic ½ tablespoon of brown

sugar ½ teaspoon of shrimp paste

Or you can also use “pecel” sauce

How to Make (for Gado-Gado)

First, boil all of

the vegetables

(cabbage, bean

sprouts, long

beans, and

potatoes) until

they are cooked.,

not too long

though, so the

vegetables will

still have a

crunchy texture.

While boiling the

vegetables, you

can also boil the

eggs.

tempe on frying

pan using oil. Fry

until cooked

How to Make(for peanut sauce)

Fried peanuts,

shrimp paste, chili,

fried shalot and

garlic, all mashed

using pestle and

mortar . Then, put

it to a frying pan

with the rest of the

ingredients. Fry

them until curdle

and put seasoning.

Use low heat while

cooking and

always stir it.

Put all of the

vegetables and

pour the peanut

sauce on a plate

(with the boiled

eggs). You can

use some limes

and our

traditional chips

(kerupuk)
