Outside of Snapchat, Instagram is not only one of the fastest growing social medias, its one of the largest. Being owned by Facebook, Instagram’s growth doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.

Here’s the deal — even though advertising on Instagram is shared through the same dashboard ad platform as Facebook, the strategies are very different.

Instagram is about a picture speaking a thousand words. You’re entire image needs to tell an instant story….. Hence INSTAGRAM. The copy that lives below the image needs to be short, sweet, and effective.

Post pictures of products on the floor, close up shots, room shots, and even user generated imag-es. There are multiple companies a retailer can partner with that share user generated images.

In a nutshell, user generated images are when a customer snaps and shares a picture of their new room on Instagram (or other medias). If the customer uses a specific #hashtag, your store will be digitally flagged and has a chance to use those images in their marketing efforts. There are a handful of companies retailers can partner with to make this happen.

90 percent of Instagram users are younger than 35 (Source: brandwatch). The millennials typically want interesting, creative, and inspiring content. Cater to your demographic’s preference.

When you’re retailers want to advertise on the gram, I suggest using or creating a unique image for the sale. Examples: 1. Snap a pic of the Top Rated Room group with the tagline “Top Rated Rooms now XX% OFF.”2. Try a video of customers flooding in. “Nobody want to miss out! (blank) sale going on now!”3. Build a room or collection of a color palette through a time-lapse video. “Creating with the color of the year! $XXX OFF $XXXX purchase”
