The Stations of the Cross: For Roman Catholics throughout the world, the Stations of the Cross are synonymous with Lent, Holy Week and, especially, Good Friday. This devotion is also known as the "Way of the Cross", the "VCrucis", and the "Via Dolorosa." It commemorates 14 key events on day of Christ's crucifixion. The majority concern His final walk through the streets of Jerusalem, carrying the Cross. Today, images of the Stations (or simple crosses representing them) are on display in almost all Catholic churches. They serve mainly as a focus for Lenten worship services. But the Stations can also be performed privately, at any time of the year, even at home. Fr. Hart is leading the Stations of the Cross on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM and Fridays at 5:30 PM (except as noted) in the Church Calendar. Mass will follow.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE DIOCESE OF LITTLE ROCK
Women’s Religious Discernment Retreat The retreat that was rescheduled due to snow, will be held Saturday to Sunday, March 4-5 at St. Joseph Center, 6800 Camp Robinson Rd., North Little Rock. Find your Yes to God! The retreat is for young women 16-35 years of age who want to learn and discern about Religious Life. Sponsored by the diocesan offices of Youth & Campus Ministry and the Minister for Religious, the retreat will include talks on Religious Life by Sisters from Communities serving in Arkansas; time for prayer & reflection; and opportunity to speak with the Sisters. The retreat is free. Registration deadline is Monday, February 27. For Registration form and more information see
http://bit.ly/womenretreat2017 or contact Sr. Joan Pytlik, D.C., Minister for Religious [email protected] or 501-664-0340, ext. 384.
Arkansas Catholic Directory Photo Contest
Arkansas Catholic is holding a contest to choose a photo for the cover of the 2018 diocesan directory. Any professional or amateur photographer in Arkansas can enter their photo of the inside or outside of a Catholic church or institution in the diocese. March 17 is the deadline to enter the contest. For complete rules and an entry form, visit the Arkansas Catholic website at www.arkansas-catholic.org.
Take a phone and television fast March 1
For the first time ever, the Diocese of Little Rock is inviting people to “fast” by turning off their cell phones and televisions on Ash Wednesday, March 1 and Good Friday, April 14. Silencing our phones and televisions for all or part of these holy days will give God a chance to call our hearts, especially if we couple this with at least an hour spent in silent prayer while disconnected from digital media. Please consider including this practice in addition to almsgiving, prayer and fasting from food, which are traditional disciplines the Church observes during Lent. Because all of these practices involve sacrifice of one sort or another, it would be especially beneficial to offer the spiritual fruits of that sacrifice for some specific cause -- thus giving meaning to the suffering involved and producing greater spiritual benefit. The diocese is recommending parishioners offer up the sacrifices of Ash Wednesday for those who have left or been hurt by the Church and the sacrifices of Good Friday for those who are marginalized and neglected.
