I am excited about working with you. In addition to the quality education that will occur in the classroom, Deerfield Beach Middle School has numerous extra-curricular activities and sports. The school theme for 2017- 2018 school year: “Get on Board…Destination Excellence” Students meeting and exceeding mastery is the vision of Deerfield Beach Middle School. However, this can only be accomplished through a collaborative effort to pursue excellence in everything we do for our students. GET INVOLVED

“Getting on Board . . . Destination Excellence”

DBMS is an exciting place, and we’re here to help you make a successful transition. For many, the first day of on our campus will be one that you will remember for the remainder of your life. The best approach to conquering the first day jitters is to plan for a successful start and to be prepared for your first day.

Helpful suggestions;

1. Pick up your schedule early on Saturday, August 19 from 8am-12pm in the cafeteria. Your schedule helps to point you in the right direction on the first day.

2. Get organized, being organized on the first day of school will make the year less overwhelming.

3. Discover if your schedule will change daily/weekly

4. Create a good routine for passing between classes, make it a habit to arrive early.

5. Use a homework and activities calendar

6. Work on difficult assignments first

7. Be an engaged learner, challenge yourself by making a written goal to be a good student this year.

8. Take a break and have fun

Our first SAC Meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 20th from 6:00-7:00 pm in our Media Center. DBMS Junior Bucks are welcomed to attend our SAC meetings and we encourage their active participation

Parents come out on Thursday, September 7th from 6:00-7:30 pm for our Annual Open House. Meet your child’s teachers!

Make sure you bring their schedule for class rotations.

Mentoring and School Counseling: Middle school can be one of the most liberating experiences for your child. However, new challenges can sometimes create new stresses. Please know that our support staff is always available to assist your student and family.

DBMS is a proud participant and supporter of Middle School Athletics through the Broward Schools Middle School Athletic Association (MSAA). As we enter the 2017-2018 school year, DBMS will offer Basketball, Cheerleading, Flag Football, Soccer, Track & Field

and Volleyball. Cross-Country and Golf, will be two new

team sports that we are proud to offer to your DBMS student this year. All athletic games begin at 4:00 PM

Send Your Sales Tax to Schools

Our parents that are independent business owners can make a significant impact by donating your Sales Tax Collection Allowance online to bring technology to our classrooms. The maximum monthly donation amount is $30. Every small investment helps our students and teachers in a BIG way! Businesses can donate, at no cost, a percentage of the sales tax they collect to schools, to support technology in classrooms. To donate monthly, use the ONLINE Florida Department of Revenue sales and use tax return forms. Learn more about it today by phoning 754-321-2300, or via web at www.browardschools.com/taxdonation.

Below is a checklist to help your experience with our school registration process go as smoothly as possible. When you arrive at Deerfield Beach Middle School to register your child, please be prepared to present the most up to date documentation for the following requirements:

üSchool Locator – Let’s check to see if we’re your correct boundary middle school

üForms – Student Registration, Emergency Contact, Release of information and Code of Conduct Signature Forms

üProof of Residence – you must submit current proofs of residence, based on your type of residence

üProof of Age – submit one form of verification of you child’s age

üProof of Medical Exam – all students enrolling for the first time must submit evidence of a medical exam that was performed within the 12 months prior to the initial enrollment

üProof of Immunization - submit an up to date Florida Certificate of Immunization Form.

üSchool Records – Submit the most recent report card and/or transcript needed for appropriate grade level placement, or complete a Release of Information Form.

üPlease bare in mind that Deerfield Beach Middle School has the right to verify any information provide by the student and/or the student’s parent(s).
