Increase employee skillset

Apprentices will bring impact, increased knowledge and depth of insight back to their colleagues, keeping businesses at the forefront of their industry.

Enhanced company morale, motivation and productivity

Employees feel valued when they know you are investing in them, so they are more likely to stay with a business that supports learning and development.

Industry progression

Apprentices will learn from high profile industry speakers, lecturers, researchers and each other about innovation in the supply chain, advanced technologies and methodologies to ensure your business remains relevant, up to date and competitive. The programme, which is double accredited to both The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and The Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) up to Level 6, is focused on industry progression and continued professional development (CPD). Upon graduation, students will be

eligible to apply for professional membership of both these organisations (MCIPs, CMILT, CProf)

Attracting new talent

In an industry sector with a significant talent shortfall, it is essential that businesses are leveraging their existing supply chain talent in order to remain competitive. The programme is excellent for succession planning. Recruits will be drawn to a business that cares about CPD. For hard-working, motivated individuals, the opportunity to learn while working will be an attractive benefit.

Degree apprenticeships aren’t just beneficial for employees – they mean great things for employers, too.

Neil Cooke, Business Unit Management, Howden’s Joinery

“We aim to attract and retain high quality people and provide fulfilling career opportunities for all our people.

The ability to offer degree apprenticeships to enable people to gain a professional qualification whilst at work is a fantastic way of learning and applying the theory whilst earning, giving us motivated and happy apprentices.”

One of the key transferable skills the course has taught me so far is how to apply academic theory to my writing. Having been out of education for a while, the support from the academic tutors has played an integral role in helping me adjust to higher education.

The way the programme is structured works really well as a work-based learning course as consideration is taken to balance work and life commitments.

My approach and thought processes have changed significantly since I started the course as I have a greater understanding and awareness of the wider picture of how we operate as an organisation.

I am currently undertaking my first live work-based project and, by being able to put theory into practice, my studies have definitely directly benefitted my organisation.

I would highly recommend the course to anybody who is looking

to take on a work-based learning qualification. The opportunity to upskill and develop your knowledge is an invaluable asset to your personal and professional development in the long term.

Career enhancing learning

10 HULL.AC.UK

The Apprenticeship Degree allows you to expand your skills beyond the workplace because you are learning from professionals with sector experience as well as learning alongside other people from a range of industries.

Everyone on the course has different strengths and skills, so you learn to work together and pull from each other’s experiences.

This broadens your understanding of the wider supply chain network,

helping you to recognise how, not only your organisation works, but other organisations too.

The ability to study on campus is so advantageous because you get to interact with so many different people and businesses and you can take advantage of new networking opportunities.

What I have taken from the course in particular is the opportunity to identify new subjects and explore new business areas. In the workplace, you tend to only stick to

what you are good at, but that limits your ability to progress. This course will help you grow by making you fully appreciate your potential.

Neil Cooke, Business Unit Management, Howden’s Joinery

“You can take advantage of new networking opportunities.”
