Why We Are Adopting

When we first got married, we thought we’d have 3 boys. However, when we were pregnant with

each boy, we had a longing in our hearts for a daughter, Claire. The desire to have a little girl in our

family has never gone away. When our oldest, Colin was 4 years old, he told us so casually “God

told me in my heart that we’re going to have baby girl Claire!” Who can disagree with that!?!?

Maureen had a hysterectomy a few years ago and therefore can’t have any more biological children.

Our boys have often asked for a little sister. Adoption has been something we have talked about

since the beginning of our marriage, but it never seemed like the right time. Throughout our ministry

in the church, we have felt the overwhelming sense that Claire would come to our family eventually

and over the last few months, we have both felt really strongly that now is the right time. We need to

make an active effort in finding our little girl to complete our family. Maureen can’t wait to finally be

able to dress someone in pink! Haha! Our boys, as well as us, are so excited for a little girl to come

to our home. Claire is going to be so loved and fiercely protected by her big brothers. You and your

little girl will be the answer to many many prayers.

Our Home

After 13 years of Youth Ministry in SW Boise, we followed God’s calling and moved out to Middleton

where Brian became the senior pastor at Oregon Trail Church of God. We had a house built in a

subdivision where the boys all have their own room... and we have an extra bedroom that's painted

pink waiting just for Claire! We have a nice backyard with a trampoline and a fire pit for fun family

time. Our subdivision has a gym and a pool and lots of walking paths. We spend a lot of time outside

while the boys ride their scooters. The boys attend school here in Middleton and have had such a

great time making friends in the neighborhood. We are so happy in Middleton. We are a short

distance from the zoo, parks, hospitals, stores and more without feeling like we are right in the middle

of it.

Our Extended Family

Brian and Maureen both have both sets of parents living. Maureen’s extended family is in

Yakima, Washington. Her parents live in the same house Maureen grew up in and have a

huge backyard with a pool! Her younger sister and her husband have two boys. Maureen’s

older brother also lives in Yakima. We spend lots of fun family time in Yakima! Brian’s

parents are in Twin Falls, Idaho and we see them often. Brian’s older sister and her husband

are in the D.C. area with our niece and nephew. We don’t get to see them nearly as much as

we’d like! We love spending time with our family. We have spent many vacations camping to

places like Priest Lake, Yellowstone, and the Oregon Coast. Family is very important to us!

While we don’t have any extended family here in Middleton, we have lots of church family

that feels like ours!

Post-Adoption Communication:

Since this is our first adoption, we are still learning. However, we know that we want to make sure

the lines of communication are open both ways. We are open to having communication with you

about how Claire is doing and how she is thriving in our family. At the right time, we will educate

Claire about you (if you wish) and how she joined our family.
