2. What Is AVID?
AVID is a program designed to help underachieving middle and high
school students prepare for and succeed in colleges and
universities. Students in the program commit themselves to
improvement and preparation for college. AVID offers a rigorous
program of instruction in academic survival skills and college
level entry skills. The AVID program teaches the student how to
study, read for content, take notes, and manage time. Students
participate in collaborative study groups or tutorials led by
tutors who use skillful questioning to bring students to a higher
level of understanding.
succeed in the most rigorous curriculum; enter the mainstream
activities of the school; increase their enrollment in four-year
colleges, and become educated, responsible participants and leaders
in a democratic society.
AVID is designed to increase school wide learning and performance.
The mission of AVID is to ensure that all students, and most
especially the least served students in the middle capable of
completing a college path.

4. Scholarship
A scholarship is an award of financial aid for a student to further
education. Scholarships are awarded on various criteria usually
reflecting the values and purposes of the donor or founder of the
award.
5. The status of a citizen with its attendant duties, rights,
privileges, and membership in a community the quality of an
individual's response to membership in a community.
6. Leadership
A critical management skill, is the ability to motivate a group of
people toward a common goal. These items will help you develop your
skills as a leader.
7. A mental process and is part of the larger problem process that
includes problem finding and problem shaping. Considered the most
complex of all intellectual functions, problem solving has been
defined as higher-order cognitive process that requires the
modulation and control of more routine or fundamental skills.
Problem solving occurs when an organism or an artificial
intelligence system needs to move from a given state to a desired
goal state.
8. Collaboration
To work jointly with others or together especially in an
intellectual endeavor.
9. An experience in which a personage, thing, or event appears
vividly or credibly to the mind, although not actually present,
often under the influence of a divine or other agency.
