Brave Design is an industrial design consultancy which provides clients with insightful design services for graphics, products, corporate identity, design strategy and is now increasingly focused on designing learning materials and tools.

It is a nimble company often remarked for its diversity, an invisible structure that gives it pliancy and encourages autonomy, co-creation, and out-of-the-box thinking. It combines experience with youthful and fresh perspectives, intellectual heft and street smarts, physical vibrancy and playful inventiveness - all that tempered and shaped by strategic thinking and discipline.

Brave Design is the creative twin of and shares a home with HCD (Human Capital Development), a regional development and training organization with associates in Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, China, the UK and USA, which creates and delivers development programs focused on business and personal leadership, supports the development of new organizational cultures, organizational development initiatives and the coaching of executives and managers. Brave Design serves all of HCD’s design needs – from training manuals to brand identity to online learning tools.

Beth mAcdonaldDirectorBeth created Brave Design in 2000 and currently sits as a Director. Brave Design is an indus-trial design consultancy that provides clients with insightful design services for graphics, products, corporate identity, design strategy and is now increasingly focused on designing learning materials and tools.

In her various capacities as director, scientist and manager on a regional and worldwide scale for Johnson & Johnson Family of companies from 1982 to 2000, Crown Textile Com-pany, and at Gordon of Philadelphia from 1976 to 1980, Beth brings decades of experience and knowledge in research and development, market research and strategy, packaging design, consumer science and product concept and development in various fields - wound and oral care, textiles, adult incontinence, baby toiletries, adult skin care and sanitary protec-tion. Beth is adept in the use of linguistics, anthropology and direct observational tech-niques in product development work.

She is concurrently Director of Human Capital Development (HCD) Asia-Pacific (Philippines) and Human Capital Development Singapore. HCD is a regional development and training organization with associates in Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, China, the UK and USA, which creates and delivers development programs focused on business and personal leadership, supports the development of new organizational cultures through train-ing programs, organizational development initiatives and the coaching of executives and managers.

In addition to HCD’s direct clients, HCD partners with leading training and development organizations to adapt, translate and deliver their materials in the Asian market. Mark TanIndustrial DesignerMultidisciplinary designer Mark Tan graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree Major in Industrial Design at University of Santo Tomas, where he was exposed to printing and pack-aging processes and design as a young artist. On 2003, he won 1st place in the Digital Fine Arts Category of the 36th National Student Art Contest.

Mark enjoys the observation and human-interaction part of the industrial design process. An avid fan of IDEO Design and Innovation Consulting Firm founded in California and its creative director Jane Fulton-Suri, he specializes in user interface, packaging, and exhibition design.

To date, he has worked with Johnson & Johnson Asia Pacific, The Mind Museum, Brave Design, Food Industries, Sara Lee and etc., and has several design projects in various loca-tions throughout the Philippines.

Lara FrayreIndustrial DesignerLara is a multidisciplinary artist designing in areas of 3D modeling and space planning, graphic design, industrial design and photography. She completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree Major in Industrial Design at University of the Philippines Diliman and has since worked with engineers, architects and designers to create eco-friendly architectural designs.

Apart from her strong attraction to just about any form of art, she likes to dabble in marketing, psychology, education, and science.

She believes in the significance of environments influencing a person’s psychological behavior. As such, she designs more human, ergonomic solutions.

Lara’s ability to see the positive in every argument makes her a good peacemaker—bringing together conflicting parties, building bridges across differing ideas and making one unified solution. The creativity and boundlessness of her youth contribute out-of-the-box perspectives that aim at a more innovative, pioneering approach. Her wide span of interests makes her versatile in the use of modern technology and in producing designs that come from varied inspirations.

Kathleen Rose MojicaCreative DirectorKathleen is, first and foremost, a communications specialist, with over thirty years’ experi-ence in advertising. She earned her spurs at McCann Erickson Philippines, where as an awarded copywriter, she gained solid grounding in creative discipline, strategy development, consumer research and production work. Through her insightful creative work, she has helped to build brands – both local and international.

As Creative Director, she handled a wide range of accounts and served the communication needs of various multinational clients. This and her active involvement in consumer research have deepened her understanding of brands and consumers and the dynamics between the two. Her sense of aesthetics and grasp of what works and what doesn’t for which target audience informs her work on brand communications.

Her advertising experience spans a number of industries: Coca-Cola, Johnson & Johnson, McDonalds, Walls Ice Cream, Jollibee, Nestle, United Laboratories, ICI-Dulux, Del Monte, Bank of the Philippine Islands, Motorola, Cathay Pacific, ABS-CBN The Filipino Channel.

Kathleen’s stint in McCann Erickson Vietnam as Executive Creative Director from 2000 to 2006 has provided her with the opportunity to guide and mentor in a diverse, cross-cultural environment.

She continues to write and produce as Creative Director of Brave Design and as Chief Crea-tive Officer and Managing Partner of Hear Hear Radio Specialists, Inc. In addition to being a writer, Kathleen is also a voice talent for radio and TV commercials, and a facilitator, deliver-ing programs on Creativity Techniques, Advanced Communication Skills and Career Strategy. She is a Communication Arts graduate of the University of Santo Tomas.

Mary Frances TubleAccount ManagerMary Frances - or Lady, as she is better known, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Miriam College in the Philippines. She has had experience in administrative work with the FAO and the ASEAN for focal points meetings and done work in Marketing, Human Resources and Project Development. The range of her human resource responsibilities covered recruitment, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and orientation development.

Lady’s cross-cultural interactions with leaders and her natural people skills give her an understanding of human dynamics and client needs. Her sense of organization, thoroughness and eye for detail are strong suits. She has an interest in Forensics, which enriches the diverse collection of knowledge and talent that exist at Brave Design.
