Blogs Assignment: For this assignment we were to create our own blog. We were shown how to use Google’s Blogger application, which was very simple to use, and created our very own blog. We made these blogs about education, and needed to choose a debated topic in education to argue for our first blog post. I chose the need for teacher aids in schools and made my first post. We were also instructed to pick two of our classmates blogs, that we posted links to in a discussion board. We then read their posts and posted comments on their blogs. Blog Assignment Reflection: I have followed many blogs in the past few years. I have read about subjects from music and bands to pet rats and care tips. I have read a few blogs on topics pertaining to education, but have never had any type of blog of my own. I was excited at how easy it was to open and create your own blog using Blogger. I like how blogger uses a format similar to Google Docs and Word, when you are editing and creating a post. This makes including links and embedded picture extremely easy to do. I enjoyed writing about my topic of teacher’s aids because it is an idea that I feel very strongly about. The ability for my classmates to easier access, read and respond to my post was appealing as well. The network that can easier be formed there is just the format of any other blog about any random topic. Creating a blog would definitely be a project based learning assignment when comparing the 21st century education pillars. The language pillar could come into play as you connect and share your posts with others, leading to comments

Blogs Assignment:

! For this assignment we were to create our own blog. We were shown how to use Google’s

Blogger application, which was very simple to use, and created our very own blog. We made

these blogs about education, and needed to choose a debated topic in education to argue for our

first blog post. I chose the need for teacher aids in schools and made my first post. We were also

instructed to pick two of our classmates blogs, that we posted links to in a discussion board. We

then read their posts and posted comments on their blogs.

!Blog Assignment Reflection:

! I have followed many blogs in the past few years. I have read about subjects from music

and bands to pet rats and care tips. I have read a few blogs on topics pertaining to education, but

have never had any type of blog of my own. I was excited at how easy it was to open and create

your own blog using Blogger. I like how blogger uses a format similar to Google Docs and

Word, when you are editing and creating a post. This makes including links and embedded

picture extremely easy to do. I enjoyed writing about my topic of teacher’s aids because it is an

idea that I feel very strongly about. The ability for my classmates to easier access, read and

respond to my post was appealing as well. The network that can easier be formed there is just the

format of any other blog about any random topic. Creating a blog would definitely be a project

based learning assignment when comparing the 21st century education pillars. The language

pillar could come into play as you connect and share your posts with others, leading to comments

and conversation. The uses for blogs as a teacher are very vast. I would like to continue using the

“Elementary Education” blog that I created to collect my ideas while sharing and reading others.

I can also create blogs for my students to follow. These blogs can be used to post all assignments

or needed materials to work on them. I could post news that I would like my students to keep up

with, and blog posts could be used as a discussion before or while working on a particular

subject area.
