If the tail fins have been previously assembled, please go directly to the Instructions on the next page.

Tail Fin Assembly

From the Bionics Kit, locate the bag containing the tools and 2 screws (used in Step 3). Next, locate the bags containing the small screws and nuts (long and short) and the plastic support pieces (large and small). To assemble the large tail fin, attach the large support pieces to the inside of the fin using the longer screws, nuts, and tools.

Locate the plastic component (with cutouts). Place the opening on the base of the assembled large tail fin over the post on the plastic component. Align the screw holes and connect the pieces together using the 2 screws and a screwdriver.

Assemble the small fins using the small support pieces, the shorter screws, nuts, and tools.

Required items: clear tube Attach the clear tube to the opening of the large tail fin. The top of the clear tube should be at approximately the same level as the third support piece from the bottom of the fin. If needed, cut the tube with scissors to the appropriate length.

Required items: small, waterproof servo motor Attach the waterproof servo motor to the holder on the large tail fin, such that the rudder horn of the motor points downwards. Guide the cable of the servo motor through the clear tube.

Required items: 4 cable ties Connect the large tail fin to the rudder horns of the servo motor using 2 cable ties. Pull the cable ties through the two small tabs of the fin and then through the openings of the rudder horn in a crisscross fashion. The two cable ties cross above the fin. Add 2 more cable ties to act as stopper.

Testing Carefully move the rudder horn back and forth with your finger to check the tension of the cable ties. If the fin does not move evenly, the length or the tension of the cable ties may have to be corrected.
