Definition Atherosclerosis VS Arteriosclerosis To clarify, a patient with arteriosclerosis (hardened arteries) may not have atherosclerosis (plaque), but a patient with atherosclerosis does have arteriosclerosis. Patients often have both conditions, which can cause a decrease in the blood flow to the heart muscle. Atherosclerosis refers to the buildup of fats and cholesterol in artery walls (plaques), which can restrict blood flow. Arteriosclerosis is hardening of the arteries. These plaques can also burst, triggering a blood clot. This condition not only thickens the wall of arteries, but also causes stiffness and a loss of elasticity. Although atherosclerosis is often considered a heart problem, it can affect arteries anywhere in your body. Over time, the arteries become harder and harder as they are slowly damaged by high blood pressure. Factor Atherosclerosis is made worse by cigarette smoking(destroy vessel wall), high cholesterol, high blood pressure, hypertension, obesity , diabetes, hyperlipidemia (高高高高). Other Sex(male),advanced age, virus infection, eating habit(food with high calorie and high fat.)

Patients often have both conditions, which can cause a decrease in the blood flow to the heart muscle.Atherosclerosis refers to the buildupof fats and cholesterol in artery walls (plaques), which can restrict blood flow.

Arteriosclerosis is hardening of the arteries.

These plaques can also burst, triggering a blood clot. This condition not only thickens the wall of arteries, but also causes stiffness and a loss of elasticity.

Although atherosclerosis is often considered a heart problem, it can affect arteries anywhere in your body.Over time, the arteries become harder and harder as they are slowly damaged by high blood pressure.

FactorAtherosclerosis is made worse by cigarette smoking(destroy vessel wall), high cholesterol, high blood pressure, hypertension, obesity , diabetes, hyperlipidemia ().OtherSex(male),advanced age, virus infection, eating habit(food with high calorie and high fat.)

Hence, eliminating or controlling those factors, as well as making dietary changes, can often halt the progression of the disease or even improve the condition.
