Empowering student volunteers to do construction, Poppy saw no better place to build relationships and share the Gospel than to talk of the greatest carpenter who voluntarily took up the wood and nails for humanity. In his five years on staff with the CCO and partnership with Habitat for Humanity he contributed to 11 houses built or remodeled and the upstart of the Portage Country ReStore of which he was the Assistant Manager for a year. In 2009 he sojourned to Guinea Bissau, West Africa with WEC (World Evangelism for Christ) on a one year assignment. Teaching English without a curriculum and discipling under the shade of the cashew trees, Poppy discovered that knowing the language and culture of the Balanta people group greatly helped in communicating the power of the Gospel. Returning to the Pittsburgh in 2010 desiring to be better equipped to know the scriptures and communicate the Gospel effectively, Poppy sought out a seminary that would train him up to be a good shepherd of any who were put under his care. In May 2011 Poppy saw a need for a Bible Study in the North Hills of Pittsburgh and started the Tuesday Bible Study. It was here that he met the love of his life, Lisa. To his family and friends delight, Poppy married Lisa on July 5, 2013 at Church of Ascension in Pittsburgh and enjoyed a wonderful honeymoon in Ocean City, Maryland. They are happily living in Ambridge within walking distance of Trinity School for Ministry. For the past year, Poppy has been working at Northway Christian Community as a pastoral intern, and this spring, he plans to graduate with his Masters of Divinity as Lisa finishes earning her Masters in Teaching. is in his fourth and final year as

a Masters of Divinity student at

Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA. He graduated from Geneva

College in 2004 with a B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in Public

Relations.

Using the Public Relations skills Poppy did his best to understand

his students and poignantly communicate the Gospel while on staff

with the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO) at Kent State

University between 2004-2009.

In his first three years he co-lead an intentional community house

doing life on life discipleship with 6-8 college students.

In his forth and fifth year Poppy picked up his hammer and saw

that Habitat for Humanity was a better fit for his hands-on practical

skills. Empowering student volunteers to do construction, Poppy saw

no better place to build relationships and share the Gospel than to talk of the greatest carpenter

who voluntarily took up the wood and nails for humanity. In his five

years on staff with the CCO and partnership with Habitat for Humanity

he contributed to 11 houses built or remodeled and the upstart of the

Portage Country ReStore of which he was the Assistant Manager for a

year.

In 2009 he sojourned to Guinea Bissau, West Africa with WEC (World

Evangelism for Christ) on a one year assignment. Teaching English

without a curriculum and discipling under the shade of the cashew trees,

Poppy discovered that knowing the language and culture of the Balanta

people group greatly helped in communicating the power of the Gospel.

Returning to the Pittsburgh in 2010 desiring to be better equipped to know the scriptures and

communicate the Gospel effectively, Poppy sought out a seminary that would train him up to be a

good shepherd of any who were put under his care.

In May 2011 Poppy saw a need for a Bible Study in the North Hills of Pittsburgh and started the

Tuesday Bible Study. It was here that he met the love of his life, Lisa.

To his family and friends delight, Poppy married Lisa on July 5, 2013 at

Church of Ascension in Pittsburgh and enjoyed a wonderful honeymoon in

Ocean City, Maryland. They are happily living in Ambridge within walking

distance of Trinity School for Ministry. For the past year, Poppy has been

working at Northway Christian Community as a pastoral intern, and this spring,

he plans to graduate with his Masters of Divinity as Lisa finishes earning her

Masters in Teaching.
