'Energy' is the theme of our sixth CSR report and again welet our clients speak for us. Because our business is aboutpeople: all people in our global network, and our clients andbusiness partners across continents and cultures. Webelieve that corporate social responsibility starts withpeople, with personal responsibility: what an individual findsimportant and how they see the future. Their personal beliefcan have a huge impact on the future of our markets.

It starts at homePeople are increasingly aware of their own influence on theenvironment, adopting green technologies such as solarpanels at homes, driving e-cars or just using their bikes. They see the importance, the savings - and also the fun. Wewant our people to take that attitude, that motivation to themarket, raising awareness of energy consumption, waste, and eco-footprint - with clear choices in CAPEX and OPEX.Our work is an important part of the client's investment, whether it is a small or large project, we can achievesignificant effects over long-term operability.

It starts with trustOurs is a people business that is based on people workingtogether to achieve a common target...We do our business ethically and we believe in doingbusiness in a proper and professional manner.

It starts with a conversationWe are contributing to savings throughout the supply chain, especially in Food, Pharma, Agriculture, Chemicals,Automotive, and Oil & Gas. A project starts with aconversation with the client: what does your future look like?what innovations do you expect? how can we help you? Wetranslate long-term needs into solutions in energy efficiency, clean technology, green chemistry and green labelling -always expanding our knowledge base.

It starts with sharingWe are stepping into the next phase of our global networkorganization. Today's world is volatile, with political andeconomic challenges. We have to be agile to deal withchange. Our international clients still expect us to deliveruniform quality throughout the world. We make ourknowledge available to our colleagues, clients, and markets,by sharing and developing platforms. As part of Bilfinger, wecan offer options in cooperation with our sister companiesthat others can't, and we have the backing to go the extramile.

It starts with safetyOur ethical base is solid: safety and worldwide complianceare in our DNA. All people on all sites need to return homeeach day in good health. From past incidents, we havelearned that safety rules and materials are the basics, andpeople's awareness and active response are the key. Wesee the results of our compliance approach in plants whichcan operate under stricter regulations in coming decades, inclient satisfaction, and in intellectual concepts.Consequently, our shareholders are willing to invest ininnovation.

It starts with talentOur approach also attracts new talent. The next generationof young engineers has grown up with social interaction andusing big data for efficiency. They want to influence theirown environment and the entire supply chain. We believeeach individual wants to develop their talent. We believe ininspiring leadership, helping people to continue developingtheir skills and talents. We stimulate people to take initiative, start conversations, form teams, challenge the leadership toprovide support, involve clients, and have a positive effect onour markets. We believe in you. Believe in yourself - it startswith you!

CSR - It starts with personal responsibility

A safe, successful and sustainable businessBeing an international company operating inmany different environments, weconsistently focus on our responsibilitywhich starts with the top-level managementin our company. Working from many officeswe fully understand the potential impacts wemay have in the local communities and itsenvironments.

As our business continues to develop andmove into new markets, we recognize thenew skills our existing and future leadersrequire, in order to maintain and improve ourcommitment to CSR. To this end we continueto implement management and leadershipprograms to equip them for the safety andenvironmental challenges ahead. Some ofour CSR focus points are our commitmentsto our workforce, our clients, the

environment, and the community. To deliver these commitments we have anumber of company policies endorsed by theBoard of Directors which guide useffectively in our daily operations. Theseinclude our company statement, theIntegrated Occupational Health, Safety andEnvironmental policy, supported by other keydocuments such as our Code of Conduct,Business Principles, and operating manuals.

We will continue to identify newopportunities to embed QOHSE within ourcompany with the aim to operate a safe, successful and sustainable business thatsupports not only our workforce, but also themany communities and cultures in which weoperate.

Intervention SavesLivesThis concept is linkedto the basicphilosophy of BilfingerGroup’s SafetyWorksprogram. The mainaim of our Intervention

Saves Lives program is that whenever anunsafe act or condition is observed weexpect our people to do something about it –they intervene. We believe that by givingeveryone the support they need in havingthe confidence to question what they think is

unsafe, it will lead to a much saferenvironment for our colleagues, clients andother stakeholders to operate in.

For 2015 and onwards we will continue toidentify new opportunities to make ourworking environment a safer place foreveryone. We have already embarked on anumber of new initiatives. One key focus willbe on providing enhanced support andcoaching for our ‘frontline’ colleagues onprojects who daily encounter issues whichneed their concerted professional safetyinput.

Safety Leadership TrainingAchieving ‘Zero Harm’ requires full supportfrom every employee, starting at the top ofthe organization. Our Safety Leadershiptraining program is designed to engageTebodin senior management and to raisetheir awareness of responsibility towardsafety. The program sets out to explain thatleaders have a significant impact on anorganization’s safety culture, coaching onwhat specific behaviors need to change, why change is necessary and thereby

enabling them to apply that understanding to make a difference in the workplace.

Safe man-hours milestones in 2014

Within Tebodin we arefully aligned toBilfinger’s goal of ZeroHarm and we havedeveloped a number of

programs to help support and achievethis important business goal.

Safety on site is a topic that can never bestressed enough. Many measures aretaken and campaigns are organized tosecure safety in projects. One of theindicators to monitor safe man-hours ismeasuring Lost Time Injuries (LTI),meaning the occurrence of accidents thatlead to absence from work. Milestones of'man-hours with zero LTI', are celebratedwith clients, thanking workers on site fortheir cautiousness and compliance to thesafety rules. A selection of the milestonesthat Tebodin reached in 2014:

January: 100,000 man-hours on BasellAdvanced Polyolefins (BAPT) in Thailand - 250,000 man-hours for Huntsman Tioxidein MalaysiaApril: 5 million man-hours at the BMWBrilliance Automotive New Engine Plant inShenyang, ChinaJune: 2,1 million man-hours afterupgrading the 60,000m2 plant of Coca-ColaBeverage Vietnam Ltd. -100,000 man-hours for Heineken / Multi BintangIndonesia on the greenfield soft drinkplant on East Java, Indonesia - 500,000man-hours for Nuplex Resins Co. Joint patrols in India

Huntsman awards Tebodin for contribution to safety

In April, the annual contractor awards werehanded over to Huntsman’s permanentcontractors in the Netherlands like Tebodin.Huntsman is a global manufacturer andmarketer of differentiated chemicals.Tebodin has worked on many Huntsmanprojects, such as Keystone and Capstone inRotterdam. On these plants, Huntsmanproduces polyols, key ingredients for theproduction of polyurethanes.

Tebodin received a gold certificate - thehighest honor awarded to a contractor - forits contribution to safety on the variousHuntsman projects. A total of fourteencompanies received a certificate. Tebodinconstantly strives to improve itself in termsof safety, to ultimately receive a platinumcertificate.

Healthymonth in Indonesia

Joint patrols on sites are a good opportunityfor project managers and construction siteworkers to collaborate, manageexpectations, generate feedback and makeimprovements in existing procedures. InIndia, Tebodin pays a lot of attention to

organizing ‘joint patrols’ on a regular basiswith clients and contractors on severalconstruction sites. This initiative helpedidentifying hazards, unsafe acts andconditions at sites.

It also gives good understanding amongstakeholders to take the existing safetycompliance to the next level. To increaseeffectiveness of joint patrols, measures likefiling in joint patrol reports, taking pictures ofhazardous situations before and after, speaking to workers involving them inmonitoring hazardous behavior or situations, pointing out their active role in preventinghazards are issued. Part of the constructivedialogue with workers is to generate theirfeedback, discuss solutions andimprovements together, and point out andpraise good safety behavior. This has provento be a successful approach to prevent LostTime Injuries on many Tebodin projects inIndia.

In September 2014 Tebodin in Indonesiaorganized a ‘Health Month’ to raiseawareness on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, eating healthy food and exercising.Employees were treated to a healthy snack:fruit salad and fruit juice. Posters withinformation on office exercises and generaloccupational health tips decorated the office. The monthly newsletter featured a healthylifestyle flyer. Furthermore, several employeesparticipated in the car-free Sunday city walkin downtown Jakarta, starting with abreakfast at 6:30.

On their meeting, the management team alsotried to stay fit and organized a cycle tour –cycling is such a typical Dutch habit – alongthe beautiful and healthy scenery of rice fieldsand green countryside.

In October 2014 Tebodin in Hungaryannounced a safety contest. Employeescould compete in two different subjects:Who knows more? Teams of maximum 6 people answered a number of questions inseveral rounds. Who has the safest site? With support oflocal management and OHSErepresentatives the site with the best safetyawareness was announced ‘Safest Site2014’. The competition ran until mid-

December and 17 teams participated in theWho knows more contest, while 13 siteswished to be nominated as safest site. Theaward went to a project where a penaltysystem was introduced to enforce the OHSErequirements of Tebodin. Contractorsviolating the rules have to pay a penalty. The system led to better understanding andawareness of the OHSE principles, andresulted in less non-conformities.

Abu Dhabi commits to the H in QOHSE

Safety contest in Hungary

In Abu Dhabi, Tebodin has rolled out anintensive 13-week program ‘commit to be fit’to make people aware of a healthy lifestyle.Over the past few years, Tebodin in Abu Dhabihas put a lot of emphasis on QOHSE issues atdifferent levels. The results of these effortswere impressive. Part of QOHSE is Health. Many people take their own health forgranted. The program encouraged people to

make a New Year’s resolution for 2014, andcommit to be fit in this year and beyond. Theprogram provided employees with a healthcheckup by a professional of a local healthservice provider. For all staff, ten healthambassadors went around the office withmorning exercises, informational flyers andquizzes, healthy recipes and fruit snacks.

Biggest ‘loser’ competitionTebodin & Partner in Muscat launched ‘TheBest Loser’ weight loss competition. It took13 weeks and any employee with a BodyMass Index (BMI) above 24 was eligible toparticipate in this competition. It wasinitiated not only to improve the employees’health but also to guide them on how tomaintain a healthier lifestyle. The competition

was received with great enthusiasm - 210employees participated. A nurse from theHattat Policlinic measured participant’s BMIon a regular basis, provided information onhow to lose weight in a healthy manner andawarded the winners. The Top 5 ‘losers’ wereawarded based on ‘biggest overall weightloss’ and ‘best weight to body weight ratio’.

Save driving in winter

Driving in difficultwinter conditions ismuch safer if one isprepared. Therefore,Tebodin offices incountries facingsevere winterconditions organize‘drive safe’campaigns yearly.

Tebodin in Romania set up safetypresentations and road safety discussions, distributing flyers with tips to employees andvisitors in its offices. The focus was on driversadapting their way of driving and on vehiclesbeing properly equipped and prepared forvaried weather, road and traffic conditions. The aim of the campaign was to providecomprehensive advice and guidance for thosewho travel, so they get home safe.

In the Czech Republic a ‘skid school’ wasorganized, offering employees the chance toexperience how to prevent dangerous andcritical situations on different surfaces.Simulation on slippery surfaces, practicingbraking, skidding on wet and icy surfaces andtraining on controlling vehicle behavior underextreme conditions were part of the training.

Magyar Telekom Plc. in Hungary has 1,200 buildings all over the country. In the lastyears, it became clear that there are many challenges to redesign and rebuild serverplaces and office buildings to enhance their economic parameters. As part of theprocess, the company wanted to reduce energy consumption and save energy costs.Tebodin already had a general mechanical designer agreement with Magyar TelekomPlc. since 2012, and the companies enjoyed a good relationship.

For this challenge, the contract was extended in 2014, with architecture, statics andelectrical parts. The cooperation resulted in over fifty different designs for MagyarTelekom Plc., including a server cooling heat recovery system, solar panel system,water-water heat pumps, and heating optimization. Most, but not all designs wereabout energy efficiency, such as the gas planning. Magyar Telekom Plc. took care ofconstruction management themselves, and all designs were constructedsuccessfully. In the end, the old, inconvenient working places were brought up totoday’s requirements and are now much better work environments for the employees.

Tebodin’s project manager Mr. László Zsila worked on the rebuilding andmodernization with Magyar Telekom Plc.'s senior development managers Mr. GáborMátrai and Mr. Adrienn Keresztély, and was also in close contact with the investmentdepartment. Mr. Zsila: 'They were satisfied with our work, and so were the MagyarTelekom Plc. employees. Vestas is taking its own medicine

A pure playerVestas was founded in 1898 as a blacksmith shop in westernDenmark. The company started producing wind turbines in1979, and has since specialized in wind energy solutions, gaining a market-leading position with more than 64 GW ofinstalled wind power and more than 42 GW under serviceglobally. Wind is Vestas’ business and passion. Mr. Rønde:'We call ourselves a pure player within the wind industry. We are fully dedicated to wind and wind energy.' In Poland,Tebodin has worked with Vestas on several windfarmprojects for clients like GDF Suez and Polenergia.

High expectationsAs a company with such a high focus on renewable energy,Vestas is saturated with sustainability. 'We look at corporatesocial responsibility both inside-out and outside-in,' says Mr.Rønde: 'The market has high expectations of us, of the safetyof our operations and the footprint of our product. Investorsask questions from many angles, on infrastructure, costs, environment and safety. We are in dialogue withstakeholders, including authorities, on the best approach, and we put a lot of work into fully understanding the footprintof wind energy, compared to gas, oil, nuclear and coal.'

Continuous efforts'We are reducing the footprint of wind power, continuouslyincreasing the percentage of recyclability of our product,'says Mr. Rønde: 'Furthermore, 100 percent of our ownelectricity consumption is fully renewable.' Vestas has alsocome far in reducing Lost Time Injury (LTI) and has expandedthis focus to contractors, with standardized work methodsand tools.

Social impactWind turbines impact their environment, and in some parts ofthe world a social impact assessment is carried out. Ms.Lilian Harbak, Sustainability Reporting Specialist at Vestasexplains: 'In emerging markets, without infrastructure, socialissues are more prevalent. International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) has completelyrebuilt its creative and applications laboratory in Indonesia. The new state-of-the-art facility incorporates advancedsustainability principles including heat, water and emissionmanagement systems, all according to LEED design. Tebodinacted as design consultant from the conceptual stage todetail engineering and construction management. Tebodinand IFF worked together as one team with one goal: tocomplete the project within budget, schedule and with 0 LTI -which was achieved.

IFF strives to be part of the global initiative to save energyand build in an eco-friendly manner. For this project, IFFapplied for a green building certification from LEED. Thisbasic certificate requires 40 to 49 credits. In the designstage, focus was on controlling and reducing water andenergy usage, including maximizing daylight and using lowenergy equipment. Special attention was paid to designingfor cooling in the tropical climate, and low-emitting materialsto keep out heat. Materials were sourced locally, instead of

imported, suitable for future recycling, and eco-friendly, suchas paints low in vapors.

Extra measures were in place during construction to controlpollution and waste, separate waste for recycling and re-usematerials as much as possible. The assessment for thecertification runs from the design stage to thecommissioning stage, which is currently nearly finished.

'If companies take corporate social responsibility seriously, they would do well bylooking at biobased procurement,' says Ms. Mariska van Dalen, Senior ConsultantSustainability at Tebodin. 'Biobased procurement is relatively new and needs furtherdevelopment. We have our first experiences. All companies reduce theirenvironmental impact and total cost of ownership.' By taking steps towards abiobased economy. This is a by efficiency driven economy in using crops andbiomass for food, feed, chemicals, energy and fuels.

Innovative productsProcuring biobased products diminishes a company's CO2 footprint substantially. Many parties are looking for usable base materials for a full quality end product.’Mariska van Dalen: ‘All sorts of biobased products are being developed at present;not only biobased paint, adhesives and solvents, but also bioplastics and bio-packaging, biobased fertilizers and additives.’Still many questions remain, says Ms. Van Dalen: 'We need to focus more on the totallife cycle costs, but also the priority of food supply over building materials.Aesthetical value is often brought up, and certification of these new materials is stillunder development. However, we see this as a tremendous opportunity for inventivepeople and companies. For example, the safety of a wood-based alternative toasphalt, and fireproofing wood by scorching, with excellent results.'

Stimulus for industryToward 2014, the province of Zeeland, in the Netherlands, recognized biobasedproduction as a stimulus for industry in the region, and approached Tebodin todevelop a framework. Ms. Van Dalen: 'We created and tested a clear model for thebiobased procurement process. The province now conducts market research forevery procurement, looking at existing and new products. This starts a dialogue withregular and new suppliers, stimulating the local economy, even by simply makingconnections.'

GreenchemistryUtilising renewable materials and

reusing (non-) renewable materials

is an important part of a circular

economy, and reduces CO2

emissions. Much is going on in

green chemistry, with major

companies. The EU and US actively

promote the development of

biobased products, combining both

the agricultural and chemical

sectors.

Manufactures are changing the

materials they use, and are looking

for renewable resources, trying not

to compete with food production.

Manufactures are struggling to

obtain recycled material in the right

amounts and quality. Process

equipment also needs to be adapted

to the mixed reuse sources.

Green chemistry is about innovation

and we address all the issues:

(re)designing plants to produce

biobased materials/products, master

studies for optimal locations and

logistics, and environmental Life

Cycle Analysis.

18

Criteria for biobased productsFor biobased products, Tebodin has selected five criteria, specific toprocurement. First, the percentage of organic material in the product. Second, how product fits its function, such as durability, hygiene and fire safety. Third, looking at the entire footprint, because some biobased products produce otherwaste. On the other hand, some products produce extra value for the user, lower maintenance costs or residual value. And finally, a look at the wastephase: whether materials can be reused or are easily biodegradable. Not all'compostable' products are biodegradable in all environments, such as soiland sea.

A trust-based network that speeds up innovation

Sharing benefits and reducing risk‘Trust’ and ‘collaboration’ are the keywords in the networkthat is united in ISPT. Within this network, partners from theprocessing industry, universities and knowledge instituteswork together towards a common goal: improvingtechnology to save energy and resources. Tjeerd Jongsma:‘Participants in our projects cover the entire scope fromsmall and medium-sized companies to multinationalcorporations and internationally renowned universities, andtheir involvement can be anything from conceptdevelopment to implementation of new technology. Allpartners benefit from the shared efforts. Moreover theindividual risks of investment are minimized.’

Towards a sustainable economy‘ISPT and its many partners play their part in achieving goalsas set by the industry, the national government and the EU,’continued Mr. Jongsma. ‘By playing our part in the transitiontowards sustainable energy we aim to save a minimum oftwo percent. By enabling more efficient use of resources wewant to contribute to a more sustainable, circular economy.A third theme in our activities is promoting biobasedtechnology: maximizing the potential of biological resourcesin for instance food production and energy generation.’

Innovations and improvements‘A major development we see in process technology at themoment,’ says Tjeerd Jongsma, ‘is the transition fromthermal to electric processes. Heat, and more particularly, steam, plays a major role in the technology used to convertresources into food and many other products. New andinnovative process technologies are often driven byelectricity instead. This makes it possible to use energy thatis generated in an eco-friendly manner, such as wind orsolar energy. By making processes more modular, theindustry is better equipped to handle possible fluctuations inthe availability of electricity.’

‘Energy savings of two per cent may seem relatively small, but in a large industry it amounts to a significant number ofkilowatts. Besides, we are also seeing innovations in theapplication of more traditional technologies. For instance, arecent project involved the recovery of residual heat andupgrading it to process heat quality.’

‘WE MAKE IT EASIER TO INVEST TIME AND MONEY IN PROCESS TECHNOLOGY,’ SAYS TJEERD JONGSMA, DIRECTOR OF

THE INSTITUTE FOR SUSTAINABLE PROCESS TECHNOLOGY (ISPT). ‘INVESTING IN PRODUCTS OFTEN TAKES PRECEDENCE

OVER PROCESS INNOVATION, AS THE RESULTS ARE MORE IMMEDIATE. HOWEVER, BY THE SHEER SIZE OF THE PROCESS

INDUSTRY, SMALL CHANGES WILL MEAN A MAJOR CONTRIBUTION TO A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE.’

'A small change in alarge industry can

save a lot of energyand resources'

Fruitful collaborationOver the past few years, ISPT has initiated and enabledseveral dozen projects resulting in scientific publications aswell as in the development and implementation of innovativeprocesses. Tjeerd Jongsma: ‘To bring together business, universities and knowledge institutes, we have the supportof the Dutch government – we work within the framework ofKey Sectors and innovation contracts that underline theircommitment – and of our many, many partners, includingcompanies like Tebodin. In several of our projects, they havefacilitated the installation of trust between parties in theirand our networks – all for the sake of fruitful collaboration.’

Bioprocess Pilot Facility for upscaling biobased alternatives

The Bioprocess Pilot Facility (BPF) in Delft, offers a modernstate-of-the-art, versatile, open access pilot plant facilitywhich is capable of meeting the demands of innovators inthe biobased economy, enabling them to achieve success.

BPF’s capabilities allow the pilot facility to offer a unique setof services, from feedstock treatment and processoptimization, through to the development and testing ofrobust processes at scale. The pilot plant provides test timeto companies, universities, and knowledge institutes from allover the world, who are looking for biobased alternatives forproducts currently based on oil and gas. In this uniquemultipurpose facility, they can investigate how productionprocesses developed at laboratory scale respond to large-scale conditions and how they can best be scaled up forproduction purposes, using BPF’s special set of equipmentand expertise.

Tebodin took on the detailed design, procurement andconstruction management of the extension of the pilot plant.Tebodin Project Manager Mr. Theo Buters: 'The contractwas for equipment, electrical, instrumentation, piping andutilities. But we have also re-done the basic engineering. Inaddition to our scope we provided construction managementfor the building upgrade.' With the completion of the extension project, a unique pilot-and demonstration plant has been completed, to enable

mimicking of: integrated processing, production of chemicalbuilding blocks, value-added materials, and food products, including disintegration of biomass into sugars and lignin.

The extension entails a new pre-treatment section toprocess biomass residues (e.g. woodchips, straw, cornStover etc.) on both pilot- and bench scale, and a sectiondedicated to food applications. It also entails an educationlaboratory equipped with fermentation and downstreamprocessing facilities of a relevant size. Over and above theexisting fermentation and downstream processingcapabilities, BPF will be of key importance to companies(small and large) looking to upscale from laboratory and pilotplant to full-blown industrial production.

In September 2014, Air Liquide officially opened one of the first public hydrogenfueling stations in the Netherlands. Air Liquide is the world's second largest supplierof industrial gases. The innovative and sustainable fueling station was developed inpartnership with the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, and Tebodinwas responsible for civil, structural and infrastructural engineering and providedconsultancy and construction management services. The station is directlyconnected to Air Liquide's North West European hydrogen pipeline network and willprovide hydrogen for city buses and hydrogen cars in the greater Rotterdam area.

The city of Rotterdam is an early adopter of sustainable mobility, stimulating the useof electrical cars, bicycles, public transport and hydrogen fuel. To keep downemissions in the busy city center and vast harbor area, Rotterdam actively seekscooperation with car manufacturers and the gas industry. Hydrogen fuel is anattractive option, as a zero-emission fuel, but not much used for passenger vehiclesyet. The first experiences with the Rotterdam hydrogen station are positive. Withinhalf a year of the opening, the number of vehicles tanking hydrogen increased five-fold. Furthermore, towards 2016, a local bus company will start tanking hydrogen fortheir buses.

More fueling stations are expected in future: the National Hydrogen Platform ispaving the road for more hydrogen stations, in close communication with theEuropean Union and the commercial sector. The national government of theNetherlands also invests in green fuel, and expects to have about 20 hydrogenstations in use around the country in 2020.

CleantechnologyThese are exciting times, with many

breakthroughs in clean technology.

We identify innovations in existing

companies and speak to start-ups

with good ideas, for purifying and

reusing water, improved recycling,

and energy efficiency in plants. They

are proven techniques to prevent

pollution, reduce emissions into

water, air, and soil, and save cost.

In practice, many companies take

some prevention measures but are

often reluctant to implement new

technologies. We have also

observed that companies do not

want to halt production, and stops

are usually the ideal moment to

implement innovations.

In cooperation with several

universities, suppliers, and

Reusing heat recovery steam at PDO combined power plantTo secure a reliable and robust source of power, PetroleumDevelopment Oman (PDO) intended to set up a combinedcycle gas turbine power plant at Lekhwair, in the north ofOman. In a combined cycle operation, waste heat and fluegas are reused to drive the generators, improving overallefficiency and reducing fuel costs.

PDO has initiated a number of projects to enhance gasproduction from Omani fields to meet the increased demandfor gas, both in the local and international markets. Thenumber of loads has gone up, but the existing gas turbinegenerators cannot meet the total load requirement in thearea. In addition, the central processing plant at Lekhwairrequests depletion compression, creating a further need foradditional power.

In a combined cycle gas turbine, hot flue gas is passedthrough a heat recovery steam generator, where waste heat

from the flue gas is used to generate steam to drive acondensing steam turbine. Condensed water from the air-cooled condenser is pumped out, collected in a tank andsent back to the boiler. Tebodin took on the Front EndEngineering Design (FEED) study for the combined cycleturbine at Lekhwair. Raghavendra Kantheti, sr. ProjectEngineer: ‘We prepared tender documents for the combinedcycle package including balance of the plant and EPCdocuments to prepare budgetary estimation. We supportedin technical bid evaluation of EPC and vendor packages. These FEED deliverables form the basis for the detaileddesign.’

The plant is set up modular and will initially have one gasturbine, the heat recovery steam generator, and the steamturbine. The steam and gas turbines are each connected toseparate generators, both feeding the grid via a newsubstation.

'A showcase example of sustainable design, that demonstrates your leadership intransforming the building industry,' is how Mr. S. Richard Fedrizzi, President of theU.S. Green Building Council, described the Coca-Cola plant in Ho Chi Minh City,Vietnam. The LEED Silver Certificate, which the Council awarded to the Coca-Colaproject, marks a milestone towards sustainable design in Vietnam. Tebodin providedEPCm services for Coca-Cola, started in 2012, completed an extension project in 2014,offering green building consultancy services and implementing LEED.

This project is the first LEED certified building project for Tebodin in Vietnam, and issetting an example by achieving a high scoring silver certification of 56 points.Tebodin’s local green building consultancy team includes in-house LEED AccreditedProfessionals. Mr. Pham Tuan Khoa, Green Building Consultant at Tebodin said: Thesuccess of this project was very important for Tebodin in order to confirm ourcapability in implementing ‘Green Standards’ in Vietnam and Asia Pacific. Thissuccess has enabled Tebodin to further develop the Green Building ServiceDepartment. To swiftly and accurately execute all necessary procedures required by the LEED2009 for New Constructions and Major Renovation rating system, the teamcooperated with colleagues in Poland.

The new facility is 375,000 square foot and includes an office and production areas. The building design includes a high-efficiency Heating, Ventilation and AirConditioning (HVAC) system, and 35 percent more efficient water fixtures. Theproduct selection process favored regional, recycled, and low-emitting materials. Forlandscaping, native and adapted species and a highly efficient irrigation system wereselected, cutting the need for irrigation in half. The project location, nearby severalpublic services, acts as a center for the community. Coca-Cola expects to employ afull-time equivalent of 640 people at the plant.

GreenlabellingSustainable buildings have proven to

retain their value and be a smart

investment. Furthermore,

independent green labels such as

LEED and BREEAM are a good

benchmark for international

companies. In addition, a 'clean'

workplace allows people to enjoy

creative work, which is important for

industry.

The Cradle to Cradle (C2C)

independent label identifies

products that contribute to the

quality of life. It provides guidance

on aspects such as material health,

recycling, water consumption during

processing, energy, and social

fairness and transparency for the

entire production chain. Most

companies start with one C2C-

labelled product and over time go on

to the next product and ultimately to

the highest C2C reward level.

All three labels are steadily growing,

and the US has connected LEED and

C2C for extra credits, with BREEAM

to follow.

Green homes for multinationals in Russia

Highest ever ratingIn 2012, Radius Group became the first real estate developerin Russia to be awarded with a BREEAM certification for twowarehouses. In 2013, a third BREEAM certificate wasawarded for a combined manufacturing and distributioncenter for Hartmann Group. Constructed to Germanmanufacturing standards, with technical support fromTebodin, the facility achieved a 58.36% BREEAM rating - atthat time the highest ever awarded to a commercial realestate object in Russia.

Doing BREEAM 'There is green labelling and doing green,' says Mr. DavidSimons, Managing Director of development and constructiondepartments: 'When we first designed for John Deere in2006, no one in the sector thought about sustainability. Thebuilding was not designed for BREEAM.' But Radius musthave done something right: 'When we completed it in 2009,we got a pass rating and it was certified in 2012. Today, wehold 75 percent of warehouses under BREEAM assessmentin Russia, and a full 100 percent of BREEAM certificates.Every building at South Gate is BREEAM certified.'

Long-term investmentRadius Group is investing in sustainable business. Mr.Simons: 'We are very aware of our impact on people and onthe environment, during construction and use. We investaround 4 percent more in our buildings than our competition. We are paying for CAPEX and the client receives benefits inOPEX. We see it as a long-term investment, creating long-term partnerships. We help to establish our client's business, and serve their needs for decades. Our warehouses last forover thirty years. Our company values say it best: integrity, partnership, and can-do.'

As the nights began to lengthen inautumn, the Warsaw officeinitiated a book exchange to shareinterest and inspire colleagues toreading, called ‘Wymienialniaksiazek’ (books exchange place).Employees were invited to share

their literature, in any subject and language, whether novels or academic and technicalliterature. It was a nice way not only to sharetechnical resources, but also to integrate andshare interest in books and reading. A special‘library’ area was created were everyonecould bring and find books.

Every year, Tebodin employees in Romaniadonate 2% of their annual salary income tax toseveral non-profit organizations or foundations.

The Romanian government has a system inplace which allows that part of the tax can beredirected to an organization working for thebenefit of all, like orphan, homeless people, and disabled people.

Among the preferences of the participatingemployees are SMURD - the emergencyrescue service, pediatric centers, ‘Save theChildren’ organization Romania and manyothers. All of them are good causes whichworth all Tebodin’s support.

In Hungary,Tebodin is a strongbeliever thatenvironmentalawareness is alearned practice. Acampaign to raisethe awarenessamong employeeswas offeringenvironmentally

friendly office solutions on how to use lesspaper, consume less energy and on wastingwater. For this reason, posters were placednear printers and in office rooms to remindthem to print double sided or use other optionsfor printing with less paper. On every monitorand laptop, there was a small sticker ‘Do notforget to turn off, when you are leaving!’ In thekitchen and in the toilets stickers reminded tothink about before wasting water.

In Russia there is no segregation of waste, andthere are only few points which accepthazardous wastes for their further utilization. That is why colleagues from Moscow officedecided to collect batteries centrally anddeliver them for recycling.Along with this all, computer wastes weregiven to the specialized organization forrecycling. Tebodin allocated budget for thispurpose.

There was also a focus on paper recyclingissues. One of the examples is the contractsigning between Rostov-on-Don office andOSG Records Management in June 2014. OSGRecords Management is a leading provider ofdocument storage and paper recyclingoperating in the CIS and the EU. OSG Records Management provides the officefor services on secure information destruction. The documents are ecologically recycled.

Why? Limits to the linear modelTo support our clients with innovative business models andtechnologies, so as to make their production future-proof.Linear production models are no longer viable due to thenon-renewable resources and the limits to the regenerativecapacity of our planet.

Our role: Pro-active to exceed clients’ needsDesign for circular production is integrated into our businessstrategy. We pro-actively show our clients the operationalbenefits of circular production processes and the innovativesteps to get there.

Our clients have the in-depth knowledge of their ownproduction process and products, while Tebodin has theknowledge regarding how to integrate new (innovative)technologies. Together with our clients, suppliers, and localauthorities, we can redesign the industry towards a circular

production. Working across different industries gives us theopportunity to ‘connect’ different sectors.

How do we do it? Think global and act localOur sustainability consultants and business developers startthe dialogue with stakeholders at a global level. Thisestablishes a general circular business value model withstrategies and roadmaps for our clients’ production facilities. At local level, our clients and project managers selectinnovations from the circular value model that are feasiblewithin the timeframe and budget of a specific project.Practical implementation of the selected innovation will bediscussed on a frequent basis. For each project, the project team calculates the value tomake the innovation visible for all stakeholders involved. Finally, we secure the knowledge we gained in the redesignvalue tool and actively share it throughout our network.

Our ambitions: leader in circular production design

Ensuresustainable building designThere is a growing awareness in sustainabledevelopment of the building sector in Vietnam. In order to meet the demand, Tebodin’sEngineering Center in Ho Chi Minh City startedthe Green Building Services department toprovide sustainable building designconsultancy and advocate for green buildingthroughout South East Asia. This specializeddepartment assists its engineering teams toincorporate sustainable designing from thebeginning to the completion of the project toensure an effortless design-to-constructionprocess. For 2014, the dynamic, flexible, andclient-oriented team has worked diligently toensure sustainable building designing forInternational Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) andCoca-Cola Vietnam in order to obtaincertification under the LEED benchmark.

Socially responsible design

For a new shopping mall in Donetsk, Ukraine, the thermal comfort modeling was performedvia close collaboration between offices inKiev and The Hague, as part of the BREEMcertification. The aim of this project was toensure that appropriate thermal comfortlevels are achieved for the occupied spacesusing the PMV (predicted mean value of thevotes of a large group of persons based onheat balance of the human body) and PPD

(predicted percentages of dissatisfied peoplewho feel too cool or too warm) in accordancewith EN.Thermal modeling performed with the specialprogram tools (simulation model), based onthe local climate parameters, is used to guidedesign decisions that influence thermalcomfort levels, such as: building form andorientation, layouts, effect of overshadingtrees and solar heat, balancing themaximization of daylight for reduced lightingenergy use against increased cooling loadsand thermal comfort levels, and checking theoverheating risk. This case, as far as possible, meets thepurpose of sustainability, when economic, social, and environmental components areinseparably linked into the differentparts/divisions of the design.

KISS skid NEXTDe KISS Skid is a compact and mobileproduction unit, developed to operate smallgas fields. This modular and transportablefunctional unit offers various advantages. Forexample, the construction and skidproduction locations can be separated, resulting in less construction hours onpotentially unsafe or extreme locations, andregarding maintenance: just replace the unitand maintain it off-site.

After the development of the first standardmodel in 2008, Tebodin started with thedevelopment of the KISS Skid NEXT in 2013;

much smaller and more compact than thestandard model. New technologies areapplied like a plug & play connector and awireless connection with the control room. The first KISS skid NEXT has been put intouse in 2014. Four more skids are in productionand a new order for eight more identical skidshas been placed.

Based on the gained knowledge, Tebodinparticipates in a modular production unitstudy together with DSM and University ofDelft. This study is initiated by ISPT (Institutefor Sustainable Process Technology).

Building simulation for optimal energy performance

Tebodin’s office in Vietnam applies more andmore building simulation to determine theenergy performance of the building beforerealizing the building. Full building simulationenables the designer to have insight into thebuilding performance during the design phaseand to test the building on several designcases. The main goal of the buildingsimulation is to propose the most energyefficient solution to reduce environmental andeconomic impact that are associated withexcessive energy use.The amount of energy consumed by the

facilities is confirmed via building simulationwhere a 3-dimensional model of the buildingis constructed and placed in a virtualenvironment that corresponds with the localenvironmently of the buildings’ location. Thesimulations will examine sun angle duringdifferent times of the day, year, and seasonsfor one operational year of the building andcompare it with a baseline building whereconventional technologies and design is usedto calculate energy efficiency. On twoprojects – for Coca-Cola and IFF - buildingsimulation has been successfully applied.

BioPort ChallengeRotterdamTebodin has participated in the RotterdamBioPort Challenge, which is a competition byand for young professionals in the RotterdamPort industry to create business plans for abio-based industry cluster. The Challenge wasan initiative of Port of Rotterdam incooperation with some companies. During thegrand finale, three nominated teamspresented their business plans. A solution forlarge-scale extracting sugars from secondgeneration biomass was selected as thewinning team by a panel of CEO’s from theport, banking and science. Three Tebodinemployees participated in three teams: ‘It wasinspiring to think about clean, green andprofitable business opportunities withlikeminded people from various industries. Finally, an everlasting network of people thatwant to promote the bio-based economy hasbeen created.’

Business breakfasts In Czech Republic, Tebodin organizedbreakfast meetings with clients on a regularbase to discuss business related key topics. In2014 ‘Energy savings’ and ‘HSE as DNA of theproject approach’ were some topics of thebreakfast meetings. Experience from projects, lessons learned, latest updates of legislationand project procedures were discussed.Clients mainly from automotive, food, pharma, oil and gas, chemicals and commercialbuildings markets participated in themeetings. These breakfasts are an effective way toshare opinions, knowledge and experience, and to come together to the best solutions.

Sunflower hull boiler units

In Russia, Tebodin uses solid-fuel boiler unitsin its projects. A favorite solid fuel issunflower hulls, one of the by-products of thepreparation of sunflower seeds forconsumption. Sunflower hulls have a highheating value, similar to wood, but are muchless expensive and readily available. They doneed a quality boiler and require a preciseairflow; with a high surface area, they need a

low airflow to prevent overheating, butenough to prevent smoking. However, sunflower hulls smoke much less than otherbio-fuels such as seeds, straw and stalks, andhave a low ash rate. The light and loose ash iscleaned off with a soot blower. These boilerhouses minimize the impact on theenvironment and dependence on fluctuating(fossil fuel) prices.
