La Villa de Biar está situada en el interiorde la provincia de Alicante, a 45 km de lacapital y a 650 metros sobre el nivel del mar.TRANSPORTES / COMUNICACIONES.

Dispone de buenas comunicaciones yaccesos por carretera. Las estaciones detren más próximas son las de Villena, a tansolo 7 kilómetros y Villena AVE. Elaeropuerto más cercano es el de Alicante(Altet).

Son muy apreciadas por los ex-cursionistas las zonas de Fontanella, elReconco y la Penya Tallà. A todas ellas sepuede acceder con facilidad desde el cen-tro urbano.

Són molt benvolgudes pelsexcursionistes les zones de Fontanella, elReconco i la Penya Tallà. A tots estes zones,es pot accedir amb facilitat des del centreurbà.


Por su situación de montaña, Biarofrece la posibilidad de practicar todo tipode deportes al aire libre, desde senderismohasta escalada o parapente.

La mayoría de los senderos partendesde el Santuario de Ntra. Sra. De Gracia,zona de recreo próxima al pueblo y bienequipada, muy visitada por los habitantesde la localidad y turistas.

Most of the paths spread from theSanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Gracia, awell maintained recreational area. From the“Paseo del Plátano” (The Plane-Tree Walk),you can take a leisurely stroll up to theSanctuary.

Per la seua situació de muntanya, Biarofereix la possibilitat de practicar tot tipusd'esports a l'aire lliure, des de senderismefins a escalada o parapent.

La majoria dels senders parteixen desdel Santuari de Nostra Senyora de Gràcia,zona d'esbarjo pròxima al poble i benequipada, molt visitada pels habitants de lalocalitat i turistes.


El Castillo que data del siglo XII, es de origen musulmán.Bien de Interés Cultural, es el referente identificativo de Biar.En su interior muestra el ejemplo considerado más antiguode bóvedas de estilo almohade.

Hoy en día, el Castillo dispone de paneles interpreta-tivos y megafonía explicativa que mejoran la visita.

The Muslim Castle, which presides over Biar old centre,dates back to the 12th century and is one of the mainattractions of the village. It was declared a NationalMonument in 1931 and it preserves the most ancientAlmohad Vault from the 12th century.

Today, the Castle has interpretive panels and soundsystems for a better understanding of its history.

El Castell que data del segle XII, és d'origen musulmà.Bé d'Interès Cultural, és el referent identificatiu de Biar. Enel seu interior mostra l'exemple considerat més antic devoltes d'estil almohade.

Avui dia, el Castell disposa de panells interpretatius imegafonia explicativa que milloren la visita.


Nace con la finalidad de recuperar, conservar y divulgar nuestro patrimonio cul-tural, tradiciones y oficios, destacando sobre todo la tradición alfarera y de cerámicavidriada de la que es punto de referencia Biar.

Actualmente el Museo dispone de paneles interpretativos, códigos QR, y tabletsque mejoran la visita.

The purpose of the Museum is to collect, preserve, investigate, display andspread artistic and ethnographic objects available in the town, especially observingBiar ceramics and its unique glazed ceramic tradition.

Today, the Municipal Museum has interpretive panels, QR codes, and tabletsthat make it easier for visitors to have a better understanding.

Naix amb la finalitat de recuperar, conservar i divulgar el nostre patrimonicultural, tradicions i oficis, destaca sobretot la tradició alfarera i de ceràmicavidriada, de la qual és punt de referència Biar.

Actualment el Museu disposa de panells interpretatius, codis QR, i tablets quemilloren la visita.


Biar constituye uno de los mejores núcleos monumen-tales de toda la Comunidad Valenciana. Pasear por Biar esdescubrir un laberinto de calles estrechas y empedradasque emanan desde el Castillo.

Biar preserves one of the most important monumentalensembles in the Valencia Region. If you walk around itshistoric centre, you may discover a labyrinth of narrow andsteep passages that spread from the Castle in all directions.

Caracterizan a Biar numerosas fuentes donde refres-carse, como la que encontramos en la Plaza de la Consti-tución.

There are numerous fountains, where you can drink andrefresh yourself, such as we find in Constitution Square.

Biar constitueix un dels millors nuclis monumentals detota la Comunitat Valenciana. Passejar per Biar és desco-brir un laberint de carrers estrets i empedrats que emanendes del Castell.

Hi han a Biar nombroses fonts on beure, com la quetrobem a la Plaça de la Constitució.

JANUARYFestivity of “Rei Pàixaro” (King Pàixaro) is

worthy of mentioning for its great age. It datesback to the origins of the Medieval Age and isheld in January, together with the festivity of SanAntonio Abad (Anthony the Great), on the 17thJanuary.

MAYFrom the 10th to the 13th May, the major

festivity of the village is held, being the Moorsand Christians Festival. It stands out for its oldcharacter since it is one of the most ancientperformances in the Valencia Region.

Biar cuenta con una amplia oferta de restauración.Susrestaurantes destacan por la elaboración de la gastronomíalocal.

En el apartado de los dulces destacan los turrones,peladillas, miel de romero, rollos de aguardiente, coquetas, rollosde anís y muchos más. Todos ellos están relacionados con lacelebración de fiestas.

Se conserva un taller de cerámica. Se caracteriza por la téc-nica de la cerámica vidriada, donde predomina la utilización decolores azul y blanco.

Biar preserves a ceramics studio which is characterised bycarrying out a glazed ceramic technique mainly using blue andwhite colours.

Biar compta amb una àmplia oferta de restauració. Els seusrestaurants destaquen per l'elaboració de la gastronomia local.

En l'apartat dels dolços destaquen els torrons, confits, melde romaní, rotllos d’aiguardent, coquetes, rotllos d’ anís i moltsmés. Tots estan relacionats amb la celebració de festes.

Es conserva un taller de ceràmica. Es caracteritza per latècnica de la ceràmica vidriada, on predomina la utilització decolors blaus i blancs.
