Bethel's Mission
To Gather, Grow, and Go!
When you get this newsletter VBS will be wrapping up (July 31st), and we’ll get back into some normal patterns of busy-ness. Thank you to everyone who helped out with VBS this year, especially our host families. Remember that on Sunday the 31st, we will have one service at 10am with a picnic/potluck to follow On the 14th of August we will have our annual blessing of backpacks for the kids getting ready to go back to school. It is also “Invite a Friend” Sunday, so think of an unchurched friend that might be in-terested in Bethel and our various ministries, and ask them to attend with you. I know this is a stretch for us Lutherans…the “Frozen Cho-sen”, but it is a good evangelical exercise for each member. The columbarium project continues to move forward. The city has our plans for a building permit and we are starting to get bids for foundation and masonry work. Many of you seemed interested in this possibility, and indeed we have already had a member secure there “niche.” If you want to do the same or just need more infor-mation, see Pastor Wise. Finally, you need to know that Bethel is in conversation with two other churches about how we can do ministry together. A visionary team will meet this month and while I don’t know how this will all turn out, it is an exciting time to be our church. As this unfolds, you will, of course, be kept in the loop. Have a great summer and if you are traveling, be safe. Peace. In Christ’s Service, Pastor Ray

August and Upcoming Service Opportunities:
Thanks to the fifth and six graders who spent the day at the Westside Lutheran Social Services Food Pantry stocking shelves, bagging green beans, sorting bread, and taking people shopping. That day over 120 families shopped which adds up to over 500 individuals being assisted with food. One young man said that he never knew it would be so much fun to help people and another added or such hard work.
