En principio el combina-do se llamó blanc cassis y nació en Dijon, adoptando el nombre de Kir en 1951 en honor del ilustre canó-nigo Félix Kir, alcalde de la ciudad. Originariamente hecho con vino blanco, adquirió la categoría de ro-yale al cambiar el vino por Champagne.

In the beginning the com-bination was called blanc cassis and was born in Di-jon, adopting the name of kir in 1951 in honor of the illustrious canon Félix Kir, mayor of the city. Origina-lly made with white wine, it acquired the royale ca-tegory when changing the wine for Champagne.

Este cóctel tiene origen italiano. El conde Camillo Negroni, a mitad de los años 20, y el barman, Fosco Scarselli a partir del cono-cido Bevanda y agregando a éste un poco de ginebra, bebida que el Conde había descubierto en sus viajes a Londres, crean el actual Negroni.

Cócteles TikiEl padre de la coctelería y de los bares Tiki fue una especie de pirata que durante la Ley Seca abastecía de ron a los fa-mosos Speakeasy. Se lla-maba Ernest Raymond Beaumont Gantt.

Aquel lánguido joven de nariz afilada y mirada despierta pasó su juven-tud surcando los mares del Caribe y el océano Pacífico. Sobre todo se enamoró de la Polinesia: Hawái, Tahití, Bora Bora, Isla de Pascua, etc. Du-rante aquellos emocio-nantes años de contra-bando, mar y aventuras, el joven Ernest, además de vivir un incontable número de peripecias, atesoró un gran conoci-miento en rones.

Una vez terminada la Ley Seca, allá por los años 30 Ernest Raymond Beaumont Gantt llega a California y se establece en McCadden Place, Ho-llywood, donde abrirá su bar Don the Beachcom-ber, nombre con el que el mismo Ernest va a ser conocido a partir de ese momento.

El talento de Don era innegable y su éxito se iba extendiendo como la pólvora. Sus preparados caseros, los zumos natu-rales, el uso acertado del ron según el combinado y el uso de sus famosos Tiki Mug o Tiki Bolws, recipientes hechos con cerámica inspirados en la Polinesia, Melanesia y Micronesia, hacían de la coctelería de Don algo extraordinario que se contaba al día siguiente en la oficina, después de haber estado en su bar.

En Tikitano rescatamos este espíritu de la coc-telería Tiki del Siglo pa-sado con un toque de modernidad.

Tiki CocktailsThe father of the coc-ktail bar and the Tiki bar was a kind of pirate who, during Prohibition, supplied the famous Speakeasy with rum. His name was Ernest Ray-mond Beaumont Gantt.

That languid young man with a sharp nose and an awake look spent his youth sailing the seas of the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean. Above all he fell in love with Polynesia: Hawaii, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Easter Island, etc. During those exciting years of contra-band, sea and adven-ture, the young Ernest, besides living a count-less number of adven-tures, treasured a great knowledge in rums.

Once the Prohibition was over, back in the 30s Ernest Raymond Beaumont Gantt arrived in California and sett-led in McCadden Place, Hollywood, where he opened his bar Don the Beachcomber, the name by which Ernest himself was going to be known from that moment.

Don’s talent was unde-niable and his success was spreading like wil-dfire. Their homemade preparations, natural juices, the successful use of rum according to the combination and the use of their famous Tiki Mug or Tiki Bolws, pottery-made vessels inspired by Polynesia, Melanesia and Microne-sia, made Don’s cocktail bar something extraor-dinary that he was coun-ted the next day in the office, after having been at his bar.

In Tikitano we rescued this spirit from the Tiki cocktail bar of the last century with a touch of modernity.
