This month at the
Balmoral Early
Learning Centre It has been a fantastic start to my new role as the Balmoral Early
Learning Centre Team Leader. I have three brilliant colleagues and an
exceptional student that have welcomed me into the team and have
assisted me when needed. The Bush Nursing Centre staff have all been
just as friendly and welcoming making me feel at home right away.
Thanks ladies!
Now, for the main reason I am here, the children! The children and
staff have all been working together to change the room around
every couple of weeks. The children are enjoying all the different
experiences; the moon sand, slime and puff paintings have been
favourites the past few weeks along with open-ended craft activities,
the “under the sea” theme area and the indoor ball pit.
The children have been participating in ‘progressive group time’
after morning tea each week. They may listen to a story together and
discuss their ideas, thoughts and opinions in a group. The theme in the
centre currently is ‘Winter’, the children have all been
discussing the seasons, the weather and what winter means.
A special thank you to the Vansomeren family for providing the
ingredients for the children to make slime! We welcome all family
contributions and it is great to see the families, staff and children
working collaboratively.
The Balmoral Early Learning Centre is very close to opening a third day
of care for the community. Unfortunately, there are still a few
vacancies. If you are interested or have any questions about our third
day of care please call us on 03 5570 1304 or 0448 980 027.

We value your
feedback
To do our utmost to improve
our services to you, your
feedback is important to us. If
you have a complaint,
compliment, suggestion or
concern we urge you to let us
know. Forms are available at the
Centre or alternatively phone
the Centre on 5570 1304.
The Bush Nursing Centre is a not for profit incorporated organisation. We receive an
allocation of State Government funding that allows for a range of flexible core services
to be provided. As clients become more complex, hospital stays shorter in duration and
the range of services that can be provided close to the clients home continues to
expand, we rely on a sound business model and community generosity to ensure we
can keep doing what we do.
Post Acute Care services offered by referring public hospitals will fund us to deliver
nursing and support service care during the immediate post hospital period. It is
important that clients being discharged back to our community say yes to Post Acute
Care. This allows us to allocate the additional nursing hours required to ensure you
receive the best care possible.
It is membership time and regular members of the service should have received your
renewal in the mail by now. We are very grateful for those that have paid their
membership promptly and extra special thanks for the many kind donations we have
received so far. Donations make a world of difference as we have limited access to
grant opportunities for capital through the Department of Health.
I would like to particularly thank the Balmoral Opportunity Shop ladies for their kind
donation of $5440.00 all to be used to replace depreciated equipment and provide a
new procedure light for our treatment area. Thank you very much .

Strength Training with a
Touch of HIIT (High—
Intensive Interval Training)…that you can do at your own pace!!!
An overall workout with barbell and
dumbbells. In-between each body part
we work, we do 40 seconds of cardio
(HIIT). Just to get that heart rate up. Great
for fat burning. So it is just a short burst of
cardio (HIIT) that you can do at your own
pace. The benefits are amazing. The
increased bursts of cardio (HIIT) burn
calories during your workout and even
keeps going after you have finished your
workout

Public & Private dental care is available once a

No need to travel out of town for dental care.
Thanks to everyone who braved the cold to help
kick off playgroup for 2016.
We had a great turn out. It was good to see so
many faces. The children had a great time
creating with a craft activity and enjoying
morning tea.
We ventured down the street to visit the library
bus. Jenny was kind enough to read us a story.
We are fortunate to have access to such a great
service.
Being part of a rural community it can be difficult
to provide our children with social interaction.
Playgroup is a great way to help develop social
skills at such a young age.
We will be meeting again on Friday 15th July at
10am here at the Balmoral Bush Nursing Centre
Hope to see you there!!
Planned Activity Group Quilts and more Quilts, we were very
pleased to have Marg bring lots of
her handmade quilts to the Centre
for everyone to see. Every Quilt has a
story, where the material had come
from, the colours used and lots of
other things that are involved in
putting a quilt together.
Patchwork and quilting have been
practised as both practical and
decorative crafts for centuries. Their
popularity has fluctuated according
to changes in society and styles
have developed according to
resources available and the social
status of the maker. Through a rich
and interesting history the crafts
have emerged as popular, relevant
and widely practised in the 21st
century, building on traditional skills
and experimenting with
contemporary artistic techniques.
Special thank you to Marg for
sharing her Quilts with us all.
Our trip to Pigeon Ponds to support
the Cuppa for Cancer Research was
a very enjoyable morning. We
retured to Balmoral for lunch and a
tour of Neville and Cheryl Troman’s
garden. What a fantastic setting and
well kept garden to enjoy. If the
garden walk was not enough Neville
had many of his painting on display
which were all amazing a very gifted
person. Great afternoon had by all,
everyone felt very privileged to visit
the Trotman garden and be made
feel so welcome.
Men’s Shed started off our June
program with our monthly BBQ. We
had the Casterton PAG group join us
for a meal and a look around our
shed. It is always great to meet other
groups and make new connections
in our community.
Our guided history tour of Hamilton
had to be cancelled due to the
dreaded bug that has been doing
the rounds. We have rescheduled
this trip for the 22nd of August.
We visited the school to catch up
with the Grade 6 students and an
afternoon with Joy and Betty “Art is
Us” project. We always enjoy our
time with the students at the school.

6 weeks program
Sitting in that office chair non-stop could be killing you. Failing to move
regularly throughout your day can be a contributor to a range of
diseases affecting your heart, circulation and respiratory systems.
Moreover, a general lack of fitness caused by a sedentary lifestyle can
hamper your daily life by causing low energy levels, reducing your
strength and causing you to become overweight. It's important to in-
clude regular exercise into your life but excuses abound––a lack of time,
money or motivation are often used as reasons for remaining sedentary.
Fortunately, there is a way around this and it's something that almost
every person can do––move and walk more each day. And a special
initiative known as "10,000 steps" has been developed to provide an
achievable goal that will ensure you move and walk enough each day
to stay fit. With the simple addition of a pedometer and some walking
shoes, following the 10,000 steps method will increase your fitness and
improve your health.
Get motivated
Purchase a pedometer (can be purchased at any sports store)
Choose a goal
Divide your daily walking between active walking and incidental
walking and movement
Plan daily walks
Increase the intensity of your walks
Set reminders to move
Keep a log of your daily actions
