Bear Necessities Bear Necessities OCTOBER 23, 2020 OCTOBER 23, 2020 FROM RESPONSIBLE RESTART TO PRUDENT PERSEVERANCE Dear Parents/Guardians, Our goal for the start of the school year was to welcome our students back to school in a safe and responsible way, while respecting the varying comfort levels of our stakeholders. With the rst quarter wrapping up next week, we are still committed to our original goal of keeping our students in-school for ve days a week. Even though Lake County has changed to a Level 3-Red designation in the Ohio Public Health Advisory Alert System, there are no plans to change course at this time. We will continue to offer both in-person and virtual instruction. The above plan is contingent on keeping our students and teachers safe. All of the different members of our community have done a fantastic job adhering to the many safety procedures and plans set in place: Parents are keeping their students home if they exhibit COVID-19 symptoms, have family members that are getting tested, or have been directed to do so by our local health board. Teachers are changing their instruction, guiding our students, and remaining exible as we look at new ways to provide a quality education. Students are complying with our new safety guidelines, listening to their teachers, and spreading joy in all that they do. Oce staff and classroom aides are working together with teachers and parents to meet the needs of our families daily. Maintenance workers are cleaning, sanitizing, xing, lining up cars, and cleaning some more in hopes of keeping our grounds in tip top shape. PTU is nding new ways to continue celebrating our students and having as much fun as we can. All of us have a job to do this year and we must continue to stay faithful to our guidelines. Only then can we have cautious optimism that our students can continue to learn, work, and play together. The optimism we have will help keep us positive in the face of uncertainty, and cautiousness will help us plan for the "what ifs" that may or may not occur. Please begin to reect on what you might do if we needed to move the entire school to distance learning.

FROM RESPONSIBLE RESTARTTO PRUDENT PERSEVERANCEDear Parents/Guardians,

Our goal for the start of the school year was to welcome ourstudents back to school in a safe and responsible way, whilerespecting the varying comfort levels of our stakeholders. Withthe rst quarter wrapping up next week, we are still committedto our original goal of keeping our students in-school for vedays a week. Even though Lake County has changed to a Level 3-Red designation in the OhioPublic Health Advisory Alert System, there are no plans to change course at this time. We willcontinue to offer both in-person and virtual instruction.

The above plan is contingent on keeping our students and teachers safe. All of the differentmembers of our community have done a fantastic job adhering to the many safety proceduresand plans set in place:

Parents are keeping their students home if they exhibit COVID-19 symptoms, have familymembers that are getting tested, or have been directed to do so by our local health board.Teachers are changing their instruction, guiding our students, and remaining exible as welook at new ways to provide a quality education.Students are complying with our new safety guidelines, listening to their teachers, andspreading joy in all that they do.Oce staff and classroom aides are working together with teachers and parents to meetthe needs of our families daily.Maintenance workers are cleaning, sanitizing, xing, lining up cars, and cleaning somemore in hopes of keeping our grounds in tip top shape.PTU is nding new ways to continue celebrating our students and having as much fun aswe can.

All of us have a job to do this year and we must continue to stay faithful to our guidelines.Only then can we have cautious optimism that our students can continue to learn, work, andplay together. The optimism we have will help keep us positive in the face of uncertainty, andcautiousness will help us plan for the "what ifs" that may or may not occur.
