    .1 It has been narrated to us by Abu Al-Qasim, from Muhammad Bin Yahya Al-Ataar, fromMuhammad Bin Al-Hassan Al-Saffar, from Muhammad Bin Abdul Jabbar, from Al-Barqy, fromFazaalat Bin Ayub, from Sayf Bin Umeyr, from Abu Bakr Al-Khazramy, from the slave of Amarat BintRafa, who has narrated the following:

    Umm Salmaas the wife of the Prophetsawwhaving said: The Messenger of Allahsawwsaid during his

    saww illness in which he

    saww passed away: Call my

    saww friend to

    mesaww

    . Aisha sent for her father. When he came, hesaww

    covered up hissaww

    faceand said: Call mysawwfriend to mesaww. Abu Bakr returned confused, and Hafsa sentfor her father. When he came, he

    sawwcovered up his

    sawwface and said: Call my

    saww

    friend to mesaww. Umar returned confused, and Fatimaasws sent for Aliasws. Whenhe

    asws came, the Messenger of Allah

    saww sat upright, and then grabbed Ali

    asws by

    hissaww garment. Aliasws said: Hesaww It has been narrated to measws a thousandHadeeth, each Hadeeth opened a thousand doors until I

    asws perspired, and the

    Messenger of Allahsaww

    perspired. Hissaww

    perspiration rolled on to measws

    and myasws

    perspiration rolled on to him

    thousand Hadeeth, each Hadeeth opened a thousand doors, until the Messenger ofAllahsaww perspired and hissaww perspiration rolled on to measws and myaswsperspiration rolled on to him

    3 It has been narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Al-Husayn, from Jafar Bin Basheer and Al-Hassan

    Bin Ali Bin Fazaal, from Masny Al-Hanaat, from Mansour Bin Hazim, from Bakr Bin Habeeb, who hassaid the following:

    Abu Jafarasws

    having said: The Messenger of Allahsaww

    called for hissaww

    dearestone. Aisha and Hafsa sent for their respective fathers. When they both came, hesawwcovered up his

    saww face. He

    saww uncovered his

    saww face and said: Call my

    saww

    dearest one to mesaww

    . Aisha sent for her father, and Hafsa sent for her father.When they both came, the Messenger of Allah

    sawwcovered up his

    sawwface. So they

    went. Abu Bakr and Umar said, Did you not see that the Messenger of Allahsaww

    didnot want us? Aisha and Hafsa said, But, hesawwsaid: Call mysawwfriend to mesaww.We hoped it would be you two. Ali

    aswsIbn Abu Talib

    aswscame over. The Messenger

    of Allahsawwhugged himasws, chest to chest, and leaned towards hisaswsear. HesawwIt

    has been narrated to himasws

    a thousand Ahadeeth, for every Hadeeth were athousand doors.

    4 It has been narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al-Husayn Bin Saeed, from Al-Husayn Bin Alwaan, from Saeed Bin Tareyf, from Al-Asbagh Bin Nabaata who said:

    I heard Aliasws

    say: The Messenger of Allahsaww

    It has been narrated to measws

    onethousand Ahadeeth, for every Hadeeth were a thousand doors.

    aswsmet them (Abu Bakr and Umar). They said,

    friend narrate to youasws

    said: Hesaww

    It has been narratedto me

    aswsa thousand doors, each door opened to a thousand doors.

    Abu Abdullahasws said: The Al-Alim (the knowledgeable one), if heasws wishes toknow, knows.

    .1 It has been narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al-Husayn Bin Saeed, from FazaalatBin Ayub, from Dawood Bin Farqad, from Al-Hars Bin Al-Mugheira Al-Nazary who said:

    I said to Abu Abdullahasws

    , May I be sacrificed for youasws

    , when the Imamasws

    isasked, and there is nothing (personal opinion) with him

    aswsregarding it, (inform me)

    from where does heasws come to know it? Heasws said: It gets imprinted in hisaswsheart an imprint, or it gets whispered into his

    aswsears a whispering.

    .2 It has been narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Al-Hakam, from Ali Bin AbuHamza, from Abu Baseer who said:

    I said to Abu Abdullahasws

    , If the Imamasws

    is asked, and there is nothing beyondhimasws regarding it, from where does heaswscome to know it? Heaswssaid: It getsimprinted in his

    asws heart an imprint, or it gets whispered into his

    asws ears a

    whispering.

    .3 It has been narrated to us by Umraan Bin Musa, from Musa Bin Jafar, from Amro Bin Saeed Al-Madainy, from Isa Bin Hamza Al-Saqafy who said:

    I said to Abu Abdullahasws

    , We ask you a question, sometimes youasws

    reply quickly,and sometimes youasws leave it and then answer us. Heasws said: Yes, It getsimprinted and whispered in our

    asws ears and our heart. If it gets imprinted or

    whispered, weasws speak, and if it gets held, weasws withhold (as weasws are theDivine Tongue).

    .4 It has been narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al-Husayn Bin Saeed, from Al-Husayn Bin Ali Bin Yaqteen, from his father who said:I asked Abu Al-Hassanasws about something from the commands of theknowledgeable one

    asws. He

    asws said: Imprinted in the heart, and whispered in the

    hearing, and they may both happen together (at the same time).

    5 It has been narrated to us by Salmat Bin Al-Khataab, from Ali Bin Maysar Al-Madainy, from Al-Hassan Bin Yahya Al-Madainy, who has said the following:

    answer? Heaswssaid: By inspiration, or hearing it, and perhaps these will be bothtogether.

    .6 It has been narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Abdul Hameed, from Yunus Bin Yaqoub, from Al-Hars Bin Al-Mugheira who said:

    I said to Abu Abdullahasws, This knowledge that heasws(Imamasws) has been made toknow, something has been delivered into the heart or whispered in hisasws ears?He

    aswsremained silent until the people forgot about it, and then said: That as well as

    that.

    .7 It has been narrated to us by Al-Hassan Bin Musa Al-Khashaab, from Ibrahim bin Abu Smaak,

    from Dawood Al-Hars Al-Nazary who said:I said to Abu Abdullahasws, The Imamaswsis asked something, for which heaswsdoesnot have anything, from where does he

    aswscome to know it? He

    aswssaid: Imprinting

    in the heart an imprint, and whispering in the ears a whispering.

    .8 It has been narrated to us by Muhammad bin Isa, from Ahmad Bin Al-Hassan, from MuhammadBin Abu Hamza, from Ali Bin Yaqteen who said:

    I said to Abu Al-Hassanasws

    , Youasws

    come to know the knowledge of yoursasws

    byhearing or by inspiration? Heaswssaid: Hearing occurs, and inspiration occurs, and

    they both occur together.

    9 It has been narrated to us by Ali Biin Ismail, from Muhammad Bin Umar, from Amro Bin Yunus,from Al-Hars who said:I said to Abu Abdullah

    asws, This which you

    asws come to know from your

    asws

    knowledge, something is delivered in hisasws heart, or whispered in hisasws ear?He

    aswswas silent, until the people forgot about it, then said to me: That, as well as

    that.

    .10 It has been narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin AbuNasr, from Hamaad Bin Usman, from Al-Hars Bin Al-Mugheira Al-Nazary who said:

    I said to Abu Abdullahasws

    , What do youasws

    know from the total of yourasws

    knowledge? Is it delivered into his

    aswsheart, or/and it is whispered into his

    aswsears?

    Heasws

    said: A Revelation like the Revelation to the mother of Musaas

    together.

    .12 It has been narrated to us by Yaqoub Bin Yazeed, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Muhammad BinHamraan, from Sufyaan Bin Al-Samt, from Al-Najashy, who has said the following:

    Abu Abdullahasws

    having said: Among usasws

    , by Allahazwj

    , is the oneasws

    to whomasws

    is whispered in hisaswsear, or imprinted in hisaswsheart, and heaswsshakes hands withthe Angels. I said, Did it happen before, or will it be happening, or (does it happeneven) today? Heaswssaid: But, rather today. I said, Before or today? Heaswssaid:But, rather today, O son of Al-Najashy, until he

    aswssaid it three times.

    13 It has been narrated to us by Al-Hassan Bin Ali, from Anbasat, from Ibrahim Bin Muhammad BinHamraan, from his father Muhammad Bin Hamraan, and Muhammad Bin Abu Hamza, from Sufan BinAl-Samat, from Abu Al-Khayr who said:

    I said to Abu Abdullahasws

    , I asked Abdullah Bin Al-Hassan. He thinks that there isno Imamaswsamong youasws. He asws said: Yes, by Allahazwj, O son of Al-Najashy,that among us

    aswsit gets imprinted in his

    aswsheart, and whispered in his

    asws

    ears, and the Angels shake hisaswshands. I said, Among youasws? Heaswssaid: Yes,

    by Allahazwj

    today, yes, by Allahazwj

    , among usasws

    today, three times.

    CHAPTER 4 REGARDING THE EXPLANATION OF THE IMAMSasws

    FOR THE

    EXISTENCE OF THEIRasws

    KNOWLEDGES BEING THREE AND THE

    INTERPRETATION OF THAT

    .1 It has been narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Al-Husayn, from Muhammad Bin Ismail, fromHamza Bin Bazeeh, from Ali Al-Saai who said:

    I asked Al-Sadiqasws

    about what has reached concerning theirasws

    knowledge. Heasws

    said: What has been delivered of our

    aswsknowledge is of three perspectives past,

    remaining, and present occurrences. As for the past, its explanation has alreadybeen done, and as for the remaining, it has been written down, and as for the current

    events, it gets imprinted in the hearts and it gets whispered in the hearing, and it isthe highest of ourasws

    knowledges, and there is no Prophetas

    after ourasws

    Prophetsaww.

    .2 It has been narrated to us by Ibrahim Bin Haashim, from Muhammad Bin Al-Fazeyl, from

    Muhammad Bin Al-Fazeyl who said:I said to Abu Abdullah

    asws, We are reporting from Abu Abdullah

    aswsthat he

    aswssaid

    that: Ouraswsknowledge is remaining and written down, and gets imprinted on theheart, and whispered in the hearing. As for the remaining, is what has preceded fromouraswsknowledge, and as for the written down, is what comes to usasws, and whatgets imprinted in the hearts, and it is inspiration, and it gets whispered in the hearing.It is from the Angel.

    And it has been reported by Zarara, similar to that, from Abu Abdullahasws

    , said, Isaid, How does he

    aswsknow that it was from the Angel, and there is no fear that it is

    from the Shaitaan, and heasws did not see the person? Heasws said: It brings

    tranquillity to himasws. Heaswsrealises by that that it is from the Angel, and had it beenfrom the Shaitaanla, it would make himasws restless, and that the Shaitaanla, OZarara, cannot present himself to the Master

    aswsof this Command.

    .3 It has been narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Isa, from Muhammad Bin Ismail and Salmat, fromAli Bin Maysar, from Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Hamza Bin Azie, from Al-Saai who said:

    knowledge, heasws

    said: Thesum of ouraswsknowledge is in three perspectives past, and remaining, and current

    events. As for the past, it has been explained, and as for the remaining, it has beenwritten down, and as for the current events, it gets imprinted in the hearts, and

    are twelve narrators of Ahadeeth (Muhaddith). Abu Baseersaid to him, By Allah

    azwj, I have too heard (this) from Abu Abdullah

    once, and twice that he had heard it. Abu Baseer said: Such is what I have heardfrom Abu Jafaraswssaying.

    one day. Heasws

    said to me: O Hakam, do youknow the Verse through which Ali

    aswsIbn Abu Talib

    aswsis recognised.

    The companion who killed himasws

    knew about it. These were great matters whichheaswswas narrating to the people. Al-Hakam said, I said to myself, If I pause onknowing from the knowledge of Ali

    aswsBin Al-Husayn, I will know by that which are

    the great matters. I said: No, by Allahazwj

    addressed him saying: But, by Allahazwj

    of your mother(meaning Aliasws) knew that. When heasws said that, the man was silenced. AbuJafar

    aswssaid: this is that which made Abu Al-Khattab to perish. He did not know the

    explanation of the Muhaddith and the Prophetsaww.

    Allahsawwand the sonsaswsof Aliasws, for both the Messenger of Allahsawwand Aliaswsare their

    asws. Abdul Rahman Bin Zayd said, mentioned that, he was a

    brother of Aliasws Bin Al-Husaynasws from hisasws mothers side. Abu Jafaraswsgrabbed him and said: But, the son of your mother, was one of them

    asws were both Muhadditheen. I asked (them), How is that? They said,

    had it whispered into theirasws

    Truly so.

    I mentioned Al-Muhaddath in the presence of Abu Abdullahasws. Heaswssaid: Heaswshears the voice but does not see. I said, May Allah

    azwjKeep you well, how does

    heasws know that it is the speech of the Angel? Heasws said: Heasws experiencestranquillity and the dignity until he

    aswsknows that it is an Angel.

    I went to our companions and said, I was right, Al-Hakam was concealing from us.Abu Jafar

    aswssaid that Ali

    aswswas a Muhaddath. They said to me, Dont make up

    things, but we will ask the one whoasws narrated it. After that, I came to AbuJafar

    asws. I said, Did you

    aswsnot narrate to me that Ali

    aswswas a Muhaddath? He

    : Angel narrated it. I said, I say thathe

    I, and Al-Mugheira Bin Saeed were seated in the Mosque. Al-Hakam Bin Aynia

    came to us and said, I have heard from Abu Jafaraswsa Hadeeth, which no one hasever heard at all. We asked him. He refused to inform us of it. We came to him

    asws.

    We said that, Al-Hakam Bin Aynia has informed us that he has heard from youaswswhich no one has heard from you

    aswsat all. He refused to inform us about it.

    Heasws

    said: Yes, weasws

    have found knowledge of Aliasws

    in a Verse from the Book ofAllah

    azwj[22:52] And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet or

    a Muhaddith, but when he desired, the Shaitan made a suggestion respectinghis desire. I said, And what is the Muhaddith? He

    aswssaid: The one who receives

    a (Divine) Message in hisaswsears. Heaswshears the buzzing sound like the sound ofthe pouring water, or he leaves an imprint on his

    asws heart. He

    occurrence like the occurrence of the episodes on the dripping water, that it is thenews. Then he

    : May Ibe sacrificed for youasws, what is included in youraswsknowledge? Heaswssaid: O AbuMuhammad, our

    asws knowledge is not that (which you consider) Al-Ghaib, but

    Allahazwjhas Given usaswsthe knowledge which is other than (the knowledge) whichsome of you have (acquired), but its about the occurance of the events (which isRevealed to) him

    .3 It has been narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al-Husayn Saeed, from one of ourcompanions, from Abu Baseer who said:

    I said to Abu Abdullahasws, May I be sacrificed for youasws, which is this knowledgewith you

    asws said: What occurs by the night and the day, and the matter

    after matter and the thing after the thing, up to the Day of Judgement.

    himasws, knows the like of hisaswsknowledge, or whatever Allahazwjso Desires. I said,What is this knowledge? He

    Allahsaww, and from AliaswsBin Abu Talibasws, making himasws to be needless of thepeople but people are dependent on him

    2 It has been narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Ali BinAl-Nomaan, from Ibn Muskaan, from Abdul Ala Bin Ayn who said:

    Ali Bin Hanzala and I came to Abu Abdullahasws

    . Ali Bin Hanzala asked himasws

    aquestion. Heaswsanswered regarding it. A man said, If it was such and such? Heaswsanswered regarding it from another perspective. He said, If it was such and such?Heasws answered it from another perspective, until heasws answered it from fourdifferent perspectives.

    .Ali Bin Hanzala turned towards me and said, O Abu Muhammad, we are wiser by ithaving heard it from Abu Abdullahasws. He said, Dont say this, O Abu Al-Hassan, foryou are a pious man. That is from the things which are narrow things, and there is noflow to it except on one perspective from these, like the time for Friday Prayers.There is no time for it except for one. The setting of the sun is from the things whichare wide things, flowing on many perspectives, and this is from these, by Allah

    .3 It has been narrated to us by Abdullah, from Al-Hassan Bin Al-Husayn Al-Lului, from Ibn Sinan,from Ali Bin Abu Hamza who said:

    . We were given permission to beseated, Abu Abdullahasws spoke a letter. I said to myself, This is from what I willcarry to the Shiites. By Allah

    looked at my face, and then said: Iasws

    1 It has been narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Isa, from Ibn Sinan and Ali Bin Al-Noman, fromAbdullah Muskaan, from Abu Baseer, who has said:

    Abu Abdullahasws

    has said: Allahazwj

    does not Leave the earth except there is in it aknowledgeable one

    aswswho knows (where are) the excesses and deficiencies in the

    Earth. If the believers exceed in something, heasws takes it away from them, and ifthey are deficient in something, he

    aswscompletes it for them. He

    asws takes them to

    completion, and were it not for that, the affairs of the believers would becomeconfusing for them and they would not be able to distinguish between the truth andthe falsehood.

    2 It has been narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Isa, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Mansour Bin Yunus,from Ishaq Bin Amaar, who has said:

    I heard Abu Abdullahasws

    say: The Earth is not left empty except in it is aknowledgeable one

    asws, whenever the believers exceed in something, he

    aswstakes it

    away from them, and if they are deficient in something, heasws

    completes it for them.

    .3 It has been narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Abdul Jabbar, from Abdullah Bin Al-Hajaal, fromThaalbat, from Ishaq Bin Amaar who said:

    Abu Abdullahasws

    said: The Earth is not empty of the one who knows where is theincrease and the decrease. If the Muslims came with excess, heaswssubtracts it, andif they come with deficiency, he

    asws completes if for them, and had it not been for

    that, the affairs of the Muslims would become confusing for them.

    Asbaat, from Suleyman the slave of Tarbaal, from Ishaq Bin Amaar who said:I heard Abu Abdullah

    asws say: The Earth is never empty except in it is a

    knowledgeable oneasws. Whenever the believers exceed in something, heaswspushesthem back to the truth, and if they are deficient in something, he

    aswscompletes if for

    them.

    8 It has been narrated to us by Abdullah Bin Jafar, from Muhammad Bin Isa, from Ali Bin Ismail Al-Maysami, from Thaalbat, from Abdul Ala the slave of Aal-Saam, who has said:

    say: Allahazwj

    does not Leave the Earth without aknowledgeable one

    asws, who decreases what the people have exceeded in, and

    increases what they are deficient it, and had it not been for that the affairs of thepeople would have become confusing for them.

    I did not see the son of Abu Al-Hassanasws the first, until One day Is'haq andMuhammad, his brother, came to him

    aswswas speaking in a

    language which was not Arabic. A Saqlaaby boy came. Heaswsspoke to him in hislanguage. He went. He

    asws came with Ali

    asws son and said: This is Ali

    son. One after the other they came and accepted it. Then heasws

    spoke to theservant in his language. He understood and went. He came with Ibrahim. He said,This is Ibrahim, my son. Then he

    asws spoke by a speech that he understood. He

    went. They did not stop coming down, young man after young man, and he

    asws

    spoketo them, five children and young boys, all of different races and languages.

    .3 It has been narrated to us Muhammad Bin Isa, from Ali Bin Mahziyar who said:I sent my boy as a messenger to Abu Al-Hassanasws, and heaswswas a Saqalamiya.The boy returned to me surprised. I said, What is the matter with you my son? Hesaid, How can I not be surprised, heaswsdid not stop speaking to me in Saqalaniyya,as if he

    aswswas one from us. I thought, it was as if he

    aswswas at home among them.

    Name, eat it. Do you know what they say on their slaughtered (animals)? I said,No. Heaswsrecited out something similar to what the Jews speak, then said: This iswhat they have been Ordered to. I said, May I be sacrificed for you

    think that we need to write it down? Heaswssaid: Write Nooh Aywa Adeenu YalheezMalhuwa Aalim Aharsuwa Aw Razwa Banu Yusau Mowsaq DagAl-Astahwa.

    .6 It has been narrated to us by Al-Nahdy, from Ismail Bin Mahraan Bin Mahraan, from a man frominhabitants of Birma who said:

    I was in the presence of Abu Abdullahasws

    . I bade farwell to himasws

    and went outuntil I reached Al-Aws, then I remembered my need. I returned to himasws, and thehouse was full of family members, and I wanted that I should ask him

    aswsabout the

    eggs of the water cockerels. Heaswssaid to me: Yaatab, meaning the eggs, DaaNamayna, meaning water cockerels, Banaahal, meaning do not eat.

    .7 It has been narrated to me Ahmad Bin Al-Husayn, from Al-Hassan Bin Bara, from Ahmad BinMuhammad Bin Abu Nasr, from a man from inhabitants of the bridge of Babel who said:

    There was a man in the town who used to hurt me, and he was saying O Rafizi(Rejector), and used to verbally abuse me, and he had been titled as monkey of thetown. I went on Pilgrimage in the same year from that day. I came to AbuAbdullah

    asws. He

    asws began by saying Kowfuhu Manaamat. I said, May I be

    sacrificed for youasws, when? Heaswssaid: In the hour. I made a note of the day andthe hour. When I proceeded to Al-Kufa, my brother met me. I asked him about the

    news of who had remained and who had died. He said, to me, Kowfuhu Manaamat,and it is in Al-Nabatiyya (a language) The monkey has died. I said to him, When?He told me that it was on such and such a day in the time, which I had beeninformed of by Abu Abdullahasws.

    Abu Jafarasws

    has said: When the daughter of Yazdjard was presented before Umarand entered Al-Madina, the noblemen of Al-Madina flocked to the Masjid which was

    illuminated by her face. When she entered the Masjid and Umar saw her, she hid herface and said Aah Peyrouz Baad Aharmaz. Umar was angered by that and said:She is abusing me, and it was his imagination. Amir-ul-Momineen

    aswssaid to him:

    That is not for you, turn away from her. She has a right to choose a man from theMuslims, then you can count her as being Fey (War booty). Umar said, She canchoose. She went (walked around) until she placed her hand on the head of Al-Husayn Bin Ali

    asws. Amir-ul-Momineen

    asws said: What is your name? She said,

    Jahaan Shah. Heasws

    said: But, it is Shehr Banoo. Then heasws

    looked at Al-Husaynaswsand said: O Abu Abdullahasws, youaswswill have a sonasws from her whowill be better than the inhabitants of the Earth.

    9 It has been narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Haroun, from Abdul Rahmaan Bin Abu Najraan,from Abu Najraan, from Abu Haroun Al-Abdy, who has narrated the following:

    Abu Abdullahasws

    said something (like the following) to one of hisasws

    servants: If youran without finishing it, I

    aswsshall have to usher you like a donkey. I said, May I be

    sacrificed for youasws, and what is the ushering treatment of a donkey? Heaswssaid:When Noah

    aswsmade them (of creatures) to enter into the ship in pairs, two donkeys

    refused to enter. Heaswstook a twig of palm and used it to usher them once, and said

    to it: Absaa shaatana, meaning Enter, O Shaitaan.

    10 It has been narrated to us by Abdullah Bin Jafar, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Ishaq Al-Karkhy, from his uncle Muhammad Bin Abdullah Bin Jabir Al-Karkhy, and he was a good man and hewas a writer for Ishaq Bin Amaar, then repented from that, from Ibrahim Al-Karkhy who said:

    I was in the presence of Abu Abdullahasws. Heaswssaid: O Ibrahim, where are you

    staying in Al-Kharkh? I said, In an area called Shadarwaan. Heasws

    said to me: Areyou familiar with Qatafta? When Amir-ul-Momineen

    asws came to the people of Al-

    Naharwaan, heasws stayed at Qatafta. The people of Badarwiya gathered aroundhim

    asws. They complained about the heavy taxation, and they spoke to him

    aswsin Al-

    Nabatiyya (a language), that their neighbours had extensive land and less taxation.He

    asws answered them in Al-Nabatiyya language Wa garz ta min owdya. Its

    meaning was, A small Torment of the Lordazwj

    is better than a greater Torment.

    said: But, there is nopermission (to tell everyone) regarding that.

    I said to himasws

    , May I be sacrificed for youasws

    , can I inform about it to some?Heaswssaid: Yes, your wife, and your child, and your friend. And I had my wife, andmy son, and Yunus Bin Zibyaan who was a friend of mine. When I informed them,they Praised Allahazwjon that, and Yunus said, No, By Allahazwj, until we hear thatfrom him

    asws, and he was in a hurry for that. He went out and I followed. When I got

    to the door, I heard Abu Abdullahasws

    say: He has preceded you, O Yunus! the

    matter is as he has said it to you. Fayz Zarqat Zarqat. I said, I have already donethat, and Zarqat in Al-Nabatiyya (a language) means, Safeguard it with yourself.

    .12 It has been narrated to us by Al-Husayn Bin Ali, from Ahmad Bin Hilal, from Usmaan Bin Isa,from Ibn Muskaan, from Yunus Bin Zibyaan who said:

    I heard Abu Abdullahasws

    say: At first (the people) came out in revolt against Musa

    Bin Imranas at Marj and Anaq, and it is in Syria, and they revolted again theMessiah

    asat Heran, and they revolted against Amir-ul-Momineen

    aswsat Naharwaan,

    and they will revolt against Al-Qaimaswsat Al-Daskara, and the king will be in agony.Then he

    asws said to me: Kayf Maalah Dirbeen Maky Maalah, meaning In your

    township, and it is in Al-Nabatiyya (a language), and that Yunus was from atownship of Dirbeen which is called Al-Daskarat.

    asws servants in Al-Saqalabiyya (a

    language) and Persian, and heaswssaid: Write this thing in Persian. I was saying, Iwill write it, and he

    15 It has been narrated to us by Al-Hassan Bin Ali Al-Sarsoony, from Ibrahim Bin Mahziyar who

    said:Abu Al-Hassan had written to Ali Bin Mahziyar, ordering him to do some for sometime. We carried it out in the year two hundred and twenty eight. When we came toSayaalat, he wrote to let himasws know of our arrival, seeking permission, and thetime of our journey to himasws, and sought permission for Ibrahim. The answer cameback, giving us the permission. We travelled to him

    aswsafter mid-day. We came out

    on an extremely hot day, and with us was Masroor, the slave of Ali Bin Mahziyar.

    When we approache hisasws

    place, Bilal was standing there waiting for us, and Bilalwas a slave of Abu Al-Hassanasws. He said, Enter. We entered a chamber and wewere very very thirsty. We had hardly sat down when a servant came up, and withhim was a jug of cold water. We drank it. Then heaswscalled Ali Bin Mahziyar, whostayed with him

    asws until after mid-afternoon (Al-Asr). Then he

    asws called me. I

    greeted himasws

    and asked hisasws

    Heaswssaid to Ali: Send Masroor to measwstomorrow. When he came, heaswssaid tohim in Persian: Bar Khudaya Choun. I said to him

    asws, Neyk, O my Master

    asws, it is

    damaged. Heaswssaid to Masroor: Dar bihi band, dar biband (close the door). Thenhe

    aswscovered his

    aswscloak over me, hiding me from Nazar, until he

    aswsasked me

    whether I intended to meet Ali Bin Mahziyar. I said to himasws

    laand the ones who were with him

    they made himaswsgo in a house. One of them said, But they have made us to go in

    this house, so that it would collapse upon us and kill us. The guards discussed inRaatan (a language). They said, looking at themasws, They are scared that the housewould collapse upon them by the time they come out of it, they would have beenkilled. Ali

    aswssaid: There is none better among us than myself

    inAl-Raatan, andAl-Raatanwith the people of Al-Madina isAl-Roomiya(Roman).

    Persian, for he thinks he is good at it. I said to the servant, Zanooit Cheeast. He didnot answer me. He

    aswssaid: He says, Your knee. Then I said, Naafat Cheeast.

    He did not answer me. Heasws

    said: He said, Your navel.

    .3 It has been narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al-Husayn Bin Saeed, from lAl-NazarBin Suweyd, from Yahya Al-Halby, from the brother of Maleeh, from Fardaq who said:

    I was with Abu Abdullahaswsand heaswshad sent a non-Arab boy who had returnedback to him

    aswsfor he had gone without the letter. He

    said to him: You can speak in any language thatyou so wish, for I

    Saqalaniyya (a language), and in Roman, and they were saying, We used to havecupping done every year, and we have not done it this year over here. When it was

    said to him: Do thecupping in this vein for him, and in this vein for him. Then heaswssaid: O Yaaser, willyou not get the cupping done? I stretched my hand for the cupping to be done. Myhand had swollen. He

    asws said to me: What is the matter with you? I informed

    himasws. Heaswssaid: Dont, Iasws forbid you from that. Straighten your hand. Heasws

    wiped hisasws

    hand over his hand, and freed him from that. Heasws

    said: Wait for awhile and do not drink, for a while, and after that, what Allahazwjso Desires, drink.Then I forgot about it, I drank. He

    asws(reminded me) by hitting me.

    And it has been reported by Yaqoub Bin Yazeed, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from one ofhis men, from Abu Abdullah

    asws, narrating a Hadeeth with an unbroken chain going

    up to Al-Hassan Bin Aliaswsthat heaswssaid that: Allahazwjhas two cities, one of them

    is in the East, and one in the West. In both of them are fences of iron, and in each ofthe cities are thousands and thousands of shutters of gold, and in them seventythousand languages are spoken, each language being different from the other, andIasws

    understand all those languages, and what is in them, and what is between them,and there is no Proof other than measws, and my brother Al-Husaynasws.

    Bin Al-Husaynasws

    said, WhenIaswswas taken to Syria, to be placed in the prison, one of myaswscompanions said,The construction of this wall is not good. The Romans discussed it among them.They said, There is none among these, the owner of the blood (to make a claim forthem), if it were to fall down, and they meant me

    asws. They kept us there for two

    days, then called us, and moved us to another prison.

    When I came to Abu Abdullahasws

    and in his presence was Ismail. He said, his fatherhad mentioned in a lengthy Hadeeth that he had heard from a man, from AbuAbdullah

    asws, different to what we used to think about it. He said: Bring the two men

    from Al-Kufa who said that they informed you. He said, One of them, I heard and Iobeyed, and was happy, and I greeted him, and the other one said, indicating with

    his hand that he is leaving, then said, No, by Allahazwj

    , I have not heard, nor will Ifollow, nor am I happy until I hear it from himasws. Then he went out in the direction toAbu Abdullah

    asws. I followed him. When we reached the door, I asked for permission.

    Heaswsgave me permission. I entered before he did. Then heaswspermitted him andhe entered. When he entered, Abu Abdullah

    aswssaid to him: O so and so, do you

    want every command of mineasws

    to you, you should be given a Parchment for itwhich would explain to you that such and such is the truth? He said, May I besacrificed for you

    asws, I desired to hear it from you

    asws. He

    aswssaid: So and so is your

    Imamaswsand your Masteraswsfrom after measws, meaning Abu Al-Hassanasws. No onewill claim it between me

    asws and him

    asws except for a deceptive dog. He turned

    towards Al-Kufa, and he was trying to master the language of Al-Nabatiyya as if it

    was his. He said to me, Darfahu (accept). Abu Abdullahaswssaid: In Darfahu, in Al-Nabatiyya. Accept it. He accepted it. We went out from hisaswspresence.

    , said, We went intending to see himasws

    . When we passed by thehallway, we heard a recitation in Assyrian (language) in a beautiful voice. Heaswswasreciting and weeping, to the extent that some of us also started crying.

    .2 It has been narrated to us by Ibrahim, from Al-Hassan Bin Ibrahim, from Yunus Bin AbdulRahman, from Hashaam Bin Al-Hakam, who has narrated:

    A Hadith regarding the Hadeeth of Bureyha the Christian; He got together with himuntil he met Musa Bin Jafarasws. Heaswssaid: O Bureyha, how is your knowledge ofyour Book? He said, I know it. He

    asws asked: How confident are you of its

    interpretation? He said, What it holds me by the knowledge. He said, Musaaswsbegan by reciting the Evangel. Bureyha said, And the Messiah

    asused to recite like

    this, and no one has recited it by this recitation except for the Messiahas

    . ThenBureyha said, I have been seeking this for fifty years. I embraced Islam at his

    hands.

    .3 It has been narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Al-Husayn, from Ahmad Bin Al-Hassan Al-

    Maysami, from Abaan Bin Usman, from Musa Al-Tameyri who said:We came to the door of Abu Jafaraswsto seek permission to see himasws. We hearda grieving voice reciting in Hebrew. We wept when we heard the voice, and wethought that he'

    aswswas discussing with a man from the People of the Book, and

    heaswsis reciting to them. We got the permission, and we came up to himasws. We didnot see any one with him

    asws. We said, May Allah

    azwjKeep you well, we heard a

    voice in Hebrew. We thought that youaswswere in discussion with a man from thePeople of the Book, reciting to them. He

    asws said: No, but I

    asws remembered the

    whispering (Munajaat) of Ilyasasto hisasLordazwj. Iaswswept from that. We said, MayAllah

    azwjMake us to be sacrificed for you

    asws, what was the whispering (Munajaat)?

    went and said: O Lordazwj

    , Do Youazwj

    See Yourselfazwj

    Bin Al-Husaynasws

    house, and in it were sparrows, andthey were shouting. He

    aswssaid to me: Do you know what they are saying? I said,

    No, I dont know. Heasws

    said: They are glorifying their Lordazwj

    , and seeking theirsustenance.

    .2 It has been narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Ali Bin Al-Hakam, from Malik Bin Atiya,from Abu Hamza Al-Thumalyy who said:

    I was with Aliasws

    Bin Al-Husaynasws

    . The sparrows spread out and shouted. Heasws

    said: O Abu Hamza, do you know what they are saying? I said, No. Heaswssaid:They are extolling the Holiness of their Lord

    azwj, and are asking for strength for their

    daily food. Then heasws

    said: O Abu Hamza, [27:16] we have been taught thelanguage of birds, and we have been given all things.

    .3 It has been narrated to us by Ahmad bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Khalaf, from one ofhis men, who has narrated:

    Abu Abdullahaswssaid, A man recited this Verse [27:16] we have been taught thelanguage of birds, and we have been given all things, Abu Abdullah

    asws said:

    There is nothing regarding it for anyone, but it is (for usasws) and weaswshave beenGiven all things.

    4 It has been narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ahmad Bin Yunus, from Dawood Al-Hadaad, from Fazeyl Bin Yasaar, who has said:

    Abu Abdullahaswssaid, I was with himaswswhen I looked at a couple of pigeons whichwere with him

    asws. The male pigeon cooed to the female pigeon. He

    aswssaid to me:

    Do you know what he said? I said, No. Heaswssaid: it (the male pigeon) said, Oone who co-habits with me and is wedded to me, there is no creature more belovedto me than you, except that for my master Jafar Bin Muhammadasws.

    I was with Abu Jafar

    one day, when there happened to be a pair of Warshaan(birds) cooing. Abu Jafarasws answered them both for an hour, and then they flewaway. When they settled on the wall, the male bird cooed to the female bird, thenthey flew away. I said, May I be sacrificed for youasws, what is the situation with thebirds? He

    asws said: O Ibn Muslim, Allah

    azwj Created all things from clay, or the

    animals or a thing in which is a soul, it listens to usasws

    , and is obedient from the sonof Adam

    as. This Al-Warshaan (The male bird) was harbouring evil thoughts about

    her, and she swore that she was not unfaithful to it. She said, Will you be happywith Muhammad Bin Aliasws (as a mediator)? He was happy with that, and Iaswsinformed him, that he is being unjust to her. I

    aswsratified her.

    .6 And from him, from Al-Husayn Bin Ali Al-Noman, from Yahya Bin Zakariya, from Amro All Ziyaat,from Muhammad Bin Samaat, from Al-Nazar Bin Shuayb, from Muhammad Bin Muslim who said:

    I heard Abu Jafarasws

    say: [27:16] we have been taught the language of birds,and we have been given all things.

    7 It has been narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from one of our companions who said:I gifted to Abu Abdullah

    aswsa dove, Warshaan and a pigeon. Abu Abdullah

    aswssaid:

    As for the dove, she is saying I will destroy you, I will destroy you. Destroy herbefore she destroys you. He

    asws gave the order for it. It was slaughtered. He

    asws

    said: And as for the Warshaan, he is saying, You are holy, you are holy. Heasws

    gifted it to one of hisaswscompanions. Heaswssaid: The pigeon is with measws. Iaswsget happiness from it.

    8 It has been narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al-Husayn Bin Saeed, from Al-NazarBi Suweyd, from Al-Halby, from Ibn Muskaan, from Abu Ahmad, from Shuayb Bin Al-Hassan whosaid:

    I was seated in the presence of Abu Jafarasws

    when we heard a voice from the dove.Heasws said: Do you know what she is saying? She is saying, I will destroy you.Destroy her before she destroys you.

    Abu Abdullahaswswas travelling, and we were with himasws. A crow passed by andcawed. Abu Abdullah

    asws said: It will die of starvation, and Allah

    anything except that Iasws came to know of it. By Allahazwj, Iasws am moreknowledgeable than you.

    said: Do you know what she is saying? We said, No, by Allahazwj
