Bali tips

From Mowgli & Nghi Khanh Trip

Money• Money Exchange: find exchange booth in building, look professional, has permanent sign to

exchange your money. DO NOT exchange at the market or on the street (rate is higher but they will charge commission fee and sometime they cheat)

• Food: – Warung (quán bình dân) starting from 6.000 rph to 15.000 per dish. Average 12.000rph/good dish– Restaurant: from 15.000rph to 60.000rph per dish. Also some restaurants charge more than that

• Clothes– No need to buy sarong (khăn xà-rông qu n quanh qu n) if you don’t really want to ấ ầ

keep it. In any temple requiring formal outfit to get it, they will give us sarong to get it (and return on the way back)

– Dresses: silk dress is very nice, I think chi Bo will like one. Cost around 200rph – 300rph per silk dress (Balinese style)

• Stuff– Buy everything in Circle K or Indomart. Other local marts (in similar style of Circle K) are

good, price is cheaper 5%-10% than Circle K

• In the market– They ALWAYS give bargain price for anything, if you want to buy something, get

Vietnam price for similar product and add around 5%-10%. Don’t be afraid if you give a very lower price than their offer, I won the bargain 90% using that calculation.

KUTA• Where to eat:

– Breakfast: in hotel is good– Go to Discovery Mall: 10 minutes walking from Best Western (ask concierge direction).

For food counter, go to 3rd floor. For fine-dining, go to the beach view– Street stall– Jimbaran beach for Seafood: pass by Jimbaran beach after leaving Uluwatu temple

• Where to go:– Uluwatu Temple (45’ driving from Best Western): should depart around 15:30 to visit

the temple before watching the Kecap & Fire Dance at 17:00 there. I think this is a MUST visit because of unique architecture and special Kecap Dance than any other places

– Tannah Lot temple (60’ driving from Best Western)

Besides these 2 temples: other temples are just the same, there are more than 20,000 temples in Bali, that’s why they call it holy land.

IMPORTANT NOTE• DO NOT buy souvenir at the market or anywhere else if you don’t really

really really like it. There is a super market in Kuta, near Airport, they sell various of Balinese product in FIXED price that no other place can compete.

I and Nghi Khanh felt so relieved when we accidentally found it through a taxi driver. hehehe

I will give you name later, suddenly I forgot though I kept on talking with my wife that “must tell chi Bo and anh Louis this”
