New Teachers
As you know each year we are growing and need new staff. The
advert for two new teachers for September 2016 has appeared in
the Times Educational Supplement, Eteach and our website. We
will be advertising for TAs after Easter - onwards and upwards!
Parents Evenings
As you know Parents Evenings take place on 14th March (3 pm – 6.30 pm), 15th March
(3 pm – 6.30 pm) and 17th March (5 pm – 7 pm). You should have all received the form to
select your times and hopefully you will know your exact time now. If you do not have a
time please let the class teacher know - as you would expect we are aiming for 100%
attendance!
MUSIC
Mrs Byles has been teaching music since January and would really like to share with you some of the work the children have been doing. To that end, she would like to invite you to a little musical “soiree” on Thursday 17th March at our normal assembly time of 9.10 am in the Main Hall. The children have really enjoyed their music lessons and hope you can join them (it is very informal).
EASTER EGG HUNT
Our Easter Egg Hunt is being organised by the PTA. It takes place during school
time on Thursday 24th March. We are aiming to start at 1.00 pm and finish by 2.45
pm. The children will have things to make as well as the hunt and refreshments.
Each child will need to pay £2.50 to participate. Could you please send in the exact
money in an envelope with your child’s name and class on. There will be refresh-
ments for parents to purchase as you are most welcome to join us.
EASTER BONNET COMPETITION
We will also be having an Easter Bonnet competition. The bonnets will need to be made at home, brought in on the 24th March for a parade in the afternoon and prize for the winner!
BOOK FAIR
Our Book Fair was extremely successful.
Thank you for being there and making it such a
success. We sold over £500 worth of books
and received £203.13 in commission that we
can spend on books for
our school. A huge thank
you — you are so
supportive, as always.
BOOK QUIZ WINNERS!
Orange group were the winners
of the Book Quiz in both Year 1
classes. Well done to:
1W—Phoebe Coulson, Luana Da Cruz, Rayyan
Hamaid, Charlie Horsey, Jan Bednarz, Isaac Talarico
1D—Oscar Figg, Carys Boon, Aimee Carrington,
William Darch, Nicole Rosa Mellon, Regina
Trofimovica
Photographer
This year we will be having whole
class photos - a lovely memento of
your child’s class (friends and teachers). These
will be taken on Thursday 14th April.
I have also asked the photographer to come to
school at 8.00 am if any of you would like family
photos with children who are not at school yet
or go to other schools. It can be a whole family
photo (mums, dads too) if you would like. If you
would like a family photo please complete the
attached form so we know how many to expect.
PARENT COFFEE AFTERNOON
The next Parent Coffee Afternoon is:
Wednesday 20th April at 2.00 pm
END OF TERM
Our term finishes on Thursday 24th March at 2.45 pm. We return to school on
Monday 11th April.
The Primary team cannot believe that it is Easter already, the time is flying. We all wish you a
wonderful Easter with your families, we thank you most sincerely for your support and we look forward
to continuing our precious journey together in the Summer term.
STEPS
The ‘Steps’ Road Safety programme is going well and as usual parents have given
their time to help. Our Year 1s are learning about road safety so many thanks to Julia Monllor,
Karen Wagner, Zofia Sokol, Joanne Phillips, Gareth Horsey, Kirsty Cunningham for helping.
MENUS
Please find attached the Summer menu, which operates
on a 3 week rolling programme. Please remember to
discuss the choices with your child. Children continue to
have a baked potato option and a variety of
puddings including fruit and yoghurt. Please
try to encourage your child to try the main
menu options - they are delicious!
Reception:
For the first 3 weeks of this term we have been looking at the story of the ‘Naughty Bus’. Within this topic we have explored different types of vehicles and the various places we might find them, for example we had a detailed look at London where the red double-decker bus (the routemaster) drives around, we have also written the sequel to the story called ‘Naughty Bus 2: The Night Bus’, where we explore his night-time adventures, and we have designed and made a naughty vehicle of our own.
For the upcoming last 2 weeks of this term we will be looking at a new story called ‘On Sudden Hill’, which is all about friendship as well as the different things that a box can be. This links nicely on from the last topic where we used lots of boxes in our making of vehicles.
After the Easter break we will thinking about ‘New Life’ and we will have some real chicken eggs in school which we can watch hatch into tiny chicks and support their growth through feeding, care and attention. We are also looking at doing a trip to a farm where the children will get to see many more animals and hopefully some baby ones too! More details on this will follow shortly.
Lastly, a big thank you to everyone who provided a box for their child and the contributions of crockery and vehicles, if anyone has any pots, pans, ladles or spatulas going spare that would be great!
Thanks again, Mr Clark and Mrs Henwood
