avpn country session 2 - korea session (presentation)
DESCRIPTION
The main purpose of the session is to understand the venture philanthropy landscape in South Korea, its strategies and cases. Session will start with a brief overview of the social investing landscape by an intermediary (Root Impact) and introduction of three Korean foundations supporting venture philanthropy. This will be followed by presentations of the foundation representatives about uniqueness of South Korea’s social investment landscape and their approaches. In particular, the Circle Foundation will outline their work with children and youth and their mentorship approach. SK Happiness will present their experience in impact assessment over the last decade. Finally, the Asam Nanum Foundation will elaborate on the rationale of choosing a new grants-based approach to social investing. The discussion will first be moderated on the panel and later opened to the floor for Q&A.TRANSCRIPT
