Treasurers Report Much d i f f i c u l t y was experienced at the onset

and at intermediate periods throughout the * season i n regards to finance. Lack of support to our Special Lottery effort forced the Committee to abandon this project and to turn to a Raffle,, but the result was alao disappointing, so f i n a l l y i t was only due to the' support of our Social Committee that ambled the Committee to . carry out the financial obligations of the season.

I t saw according to balance/ a decline of . approx. £100. However, an expenditure on the

^Juniors not previously experienced and two new 'sets of jumpers increased our /assets to a~ greater degree. The winning of the Club Championship, mainly due to the Junior effort brought much needed finanoe to the Club and enabled the Club

to end tho season with a credit of £111. • A word on insurance and injured players i s

essential and as the treasurer, I would recommend a vastly, dfferent scheme to the Club from this years unsatisfactory one. Lack of co-operation from Doctors late arrival of accounts from players and the distance of Sydney from ^Headquarters, of the Insurance Co. caused numerous delays and extra work and also loss of monies as w i l l be seen from the balance . sheet.

In conclusion I believe the Committee have carried out their duty i n the matter of finance with the Club uppermost i n their minds and have' sucoeeded very ably i n maintaining gear, and other assets at a very high level.

A suggestion i n regard to the'Assistant Treas., I feol f u l l control of' Social -Finance be his l o t , t his w i l l enable our much over worked Social Secretary some measure of relief, as being Social Secretary is a fulltime job i n i t s e l f and the worry of financial accounts a. greatly added burden, l a s t l y a comparison between 1955 and 1956 shows as follows*

1256 £452. 9. 9 £995.19. 9 £1076.15. 6 £ 630. 9. 1

2222.' Club Reoeipts. £424.12. 7 Club Payments. £856. 4. 0 Soc. Receipts £1066.4.2 . Sec. Payments £524. 6. 1

From these figures i t can readily be seen that while income rose slightly In each case, the costs of both the Club arid the Sooial Committee rose considerably.

Further comparisons may be made by careful perusal of the Statement of Accounts^ and

a MaSy thanks to a l l . f o r a moat enjoyable season. L. GRAY, . Hon. Treasurer
