Most folks agree that our

country is not what it used

to be. The people’s culture,

life-style, morals, and, even

their self respect have gone

down hill from what it was

ten-twenty years ago. I get

amazed, disgusted, and, sad

for our young people when

they trash them selves and

every thing and everybody.

My parents taught me to

respect myself and others.

They said to take pride in

myself and what I do. I

learned to respect GOD and

reverence his church. Our

former generation trusted in

GOD more than today’s

people.

The need of people today is

to trust in GOD. If we trust,

we then believe in GOD.

Our country needs to turn

back to GOD. HE is able to

deliver us from tragedy and

chaos. If GOD be for us,

who can be against us?

Many folks have to reach

the bottom before they look

up.

Let us Christians turn to

our LORD in prayer for our

country, the lost, and our-

selves. We need help and

hope in today’s world.

sion to stomp out hunger in our

community. She is the 6 year

old daughter of Nicole and the

late Danny Singleton. Hailee

recently competed in a Miss

Heart of the USA pageant. This

Hunger One County at a Time.

Hailee currently holds the title

of Thomas County's Little Miss

Heart of the USA. All of her

community service projects

have benefited local organiza-

tions. To date she has collected

650 non-perishable food items

that have been distributed to

local food banks. Her commu-

nity service doesn't stop with

collecting items for local food

banks. She has also made dona-

tions to West Georgia Medical

Center's Hospice unit, made

several generous donations of

food and clothing to Emmaus

House, and visits with residents

at local nursing homes.

Hailee will be competing in the

South Georgia Miss Heart of

the USA State pageant in

September. She hopes to

advance to the Miss Heart of

the USA National pageant in

November. Hailee has set a

goal of collecting 2,000 items

before the state pageant.

Hailee will be hosting a spirit

night at Chick-Fil-A on

Commerce Ave. in Lagrange on

8/18/14 from 5-8 PM. She will

receive a percentage of all sales

during those times. Any money

that she earns through this spirit

night will be used to purchase

more non-perishable items for

local food banks.

While working at 911 I

have dispatched many

interesting calls. One that

I remember was a caller

telling us there was a

large cat outside her win-

dow looking at her. She

said she would entertain

it while the deputy was

on his way. We couldn’t

help but wonder just how

she was going to enter-

tain it. A little earlier in

the day we had gotten a

BOLO (that is a look

out) about a tame panther

that had gotten loose

from a neighbor. It

would not attack if you

walked up to it always

facing it. Do not turn

around and run. It would

jump on your back play-

fully. It was also

declawed. If you walked

toward it when you got

too it, it would lie down

at your feet and turn over

for you to rub his stom-

ach.

I told the deputies this

as they were responding.

One of them came back

the asked me if the cat

was also defanged. I

could hardly contain

myself. As they got on

the scene the first deputy

got out and did as I told

him to do. The other

pulled up behind him to

assist if needed.

The first deputy asked

me if I was sure about

the information as he

walked. I told him the

owner told us what to do.

As he got closer the cat

started toward him and

did like we had told him

it would. I’m not sure I

would have believed it

either. The first deputy

turned around to see

where the other deputy

was. He was nowhere in

sight.

The owner arrived a

short time later to get the

cat. Still we don’t know

where the other deputy

has gone. Come to find

out when looking for

him, the other deputy

had locked all his car

doors and lain down in

the seat. I wondered if

he thought the cat could

open his car doors. He

said he had no intention

of getting out of his car.

That cat was too big for

him. We have gotten

many laughs off that call.

You two deputies know

who you are, as you still

work in law enforce-

ment.

When a waitress asks you, “What would you like to

drink with your meal?” I always answer, “nothing -

thank you”. So should you, because drinking anything

dilutes your hydrochloric acid (stomach acid). When you

dilute your stomach acid you do not digest your food

completely or properly.

You see your stomach acid is around 1.5 - 2.0 pH

(extremely acidic) and all drinks are above that 3.0 pH

(cokes) to 7.0 (bottled water), so they dilute your pH and

cause something called “mucoid plaque”. This is sort of

similar to tooth plaque except its in your intestines, and

it blocks absorption of vital nutrients into our bodies. So

even though you eat nutritious foods you will not get all

the good nutrients out of them!

So the next time a waitress asks you what you would

like to drink . . . just smile and say, “nothing - thank

you.”

Circles Of Troup Accepting Applications

Applications are being accepted

for the next class of Circles of

Troup County. There are 15

openings for the class that

begins in September.

Circles of Troup County works

with families who want to get

ahead, learn to set goals to

become self-sufficient and who

are willing to make new friend-

ships.

Of the participants in the first

three classes, 85 percent have

reduced debt, 100 percent are

employed, 24 percent have

increased their income, 38%

have enrolled in post-secondary

school and 18 percent have

taken on leadership roles in the

community.
