Parish School of Religion (PSR) Information
PSR offers religion classes for children in Preschool through the 8th grade. This year the PSR calendar has been revised. Classes begin the last Sunday of August, two weeks earlier than usual. Registration for PSR classes will be on Sunday, August 14, and Sunday, August 21 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Activity Center. Late Registration will begin on Monday, August 22. Please remember that in order to receive sacraments (normally given in 2nd and 8th grade), a student must be enrolled and attend classes for one year prior to beginning sacramental preparation.
Tribute to Veterans
This weekend, we will have after Mass representatives from the Tribute to Veterans speak to our parish about the planned memorial and how we can help to make this dream a reality.
Confession Change of Schedule
Beginning this week, we will be changing the confession schedule to provide additional opportunities for those who work during the day to come to confession. I believe that this change, reviewed and approved by our liturgy committee, will be of great spiritual benefit to our parish.
Starting this week, our schedule for confessions will be:
Sunday, 7:30-7:50am
Tuesday, 5:30-6:30pm
Thursday, 7:30-7:50am
Saturday, 4:00-4:45pm
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
One of the former vocation directors for the Archdiocese once said that, before a priest is able to retire, they should bring at least one person to the seminary and help them to become a priest. That way, we would keep at least the number of priests constant. Would it not be a good idea for us as Catholics to have the same program? Yes, we introduce and raise our children in the faith, but what about bringing in an adult convert, or even a whole family into the faith? Kids sometimes move away from the town they grow up in. Bringing in adults who have established themselves in our area help to keep our parish numbers strong. To keep our parish strong and to keep evangelizing to our community, I encourage you to take this challenge. Talk to a friend or family member who is not Catholic and encourage them to explore our faith with you. This year, our RCIA program will begin on September 15, 2016 at 7:00pm in the library. If you would like to participate, please contact Bob or Holly Neske at 456-0742.
Romantic Revolution
This retreat is open to young women in grades 7 - 9 interested in learning more about relationships, romance and pure love in today's world. At least one adult for each group is expected to attend (no more than 10 girls per adult), and moms are more than welcome! Come as a big group or just a mother/daughter team. Teen and young adult members of The REAP Team will give testimony to the power and beauty of chastity and how only through living out this virtue can true romance be revived in our world. This retreat will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Cardinal Rigali Pastoral Center. For more information, please visit http://www.reapteam.org/romantic-revolution. Coming Soon! Online Giving!
We will be soon rolling out a new option to give to our parish: online! To be among the first to try it, please contact Debbie in the parish office to find out how. Calendar of Upcoming Events

PRAY FOR OUR MILITARY
20th Sunday in Ordinary Time “Do you think I have come to give you peace on Earth? No, I tell you, but rather divi-sion.” Luke 12:51
Living a stewardship lifestyle means stepping out of our comfort zone when needed. Many of us like to play it safe, not cause waves, stay in the middle of the road. In today’s world we are called to be informed and take a stance for life, marriage and religious liberty.
PRAYER FOR OUR MILITARY Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Costs of Dicipleship
Today's responsorial psalm, Psalm 40, is more familiar to us with the refrain "Here am I, Lord." This "Here am I" is Jeremiah's great prophetic response to God's call. But today's story of Jeremiah and the refrain "Lord, come to my aid!" remind us that there are always two sides to fol-lowing the call of God. The author of the Letter to the Hebrews knew this, too. He reminded his readers that even weighted down with burdens and sins, we can still perse-vere by keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, who himself knew the shame and pain of the cross, but saw beyond it to the joy of sitting at the right of the throne of God. Today's words from scripture may not be terri-bly soothing, but in their honesty and strength we can acknowledge the difficulties of daily discipleship, and take comfort in the assurance of our own salvation in Christ.
