The 2030 Agenda aims at improving the lives and future prospects of humankind globally, and provides a roadmap for reducing vulner-ability and increasing resilience in a global changing context. The Environmental Hydraulics Institute, “IHCantabria”, is a joint research centre at the service of society, committed to help to make decisions in pursuit of an inclusive, sustainable and resilient world for peo-ple and the planet. IHCantabria contributes to the action plan elaborated by the United Nations and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which can only be achieved using knowledge and science.

Since 2015, the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS) provides regular and systematic information about the physical state and dynamics of the ocean and marine ecosystems from European regional seas to oceans worldwide under an open da-ta access approach.

The adoption of the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs requires Technology Transfer Solutions and Services based on scientific methodologies to overcome the gap between data providers (e.g. Copernicus Services) and final users (governments, private companies and general public). Four CMEMS downstream applications, contributing towards the implementation of some of the SDGs (7, 14 and 15), are showed:

SICMA - Integral System for prevention and response to marine and atmosp-

heric pollution from potentially hazardous harmful substances

RENAQUA - Co-Location Opportunities for RENewable energies and AQUAculture fa-

cilities, Decision Support for operational Multi-Use Platform activities at

coastal areas

TRL Plus - Metocean prediction system for BiMEP marine renewable energy test si-

te. Decision Support System for Renewable Marine Energy devices

ATHENEA - Integral system for prevention and management of marine pollution

from oil operations in the maritime environment
