INTRODUCTION In August of 2008, with the assistance of the American Peace Corps Volunteers serving in the Kenedougou region, SOS Enfants of Orodara elaborated a campaign to obtain LLINs for 5000 orphans and vulnerable children in the providence. One year later, Against Malaria Foundation had received enough contributions to help SOS Enfants with the donation of one thousand five hundred (1500) LLINs collected and shipped from Great Britain. Under the funding and supervision of SOS Enfants, the 1500 LLINs were successfully transported from Ouagadougou to Orodara where they were stored and subsequently transported to each village. Another national structure to recognize is PAMACO, which worked with SOS Enfants in support of malaria prevention by donating funds to sponsor professional educational theatre performances, presentations, and discussions before each village distribution. The distribution began on the 30th of October, 2009 and was completed on the 5th of November 2009. This narrative report includes the following points:

To truly meet the needs of the target population and assure that the distribution donated to the most vulnerable of that population, a strategy was put in place to make contact with resource persons in the distribution communities. These resource persons were identified as the village delegates or village chiefs, managers of the health district and of each CSPS, and the heads of the primary and secondary education institutions.

In addition, social mobilization allowed for the addition of educational discussions and theatre forums. The populations that attended are illustrated below:

In line with the distribution proposal, resource persons assisted the association to identify individuals in the most need to receive LLINs. Each of these individuals was given a LLIN after the educational discussion or theatre performance/forum.

According to the number of vulnerable individuals identified in each village, the distribution was modified and carried out as follows:

PERSPECTIVES Beginning in January of 2010, SOS Enfants will follow up to assess net use and continue

with IEC/CCC. Simple community cases of LLIN misuse or re-education needs will be resolved with the financial support of PAMAC, MAS and PADS.

SOS Enfants would like to continue its partnership with Against Malaria Foundation to continue to support other vulnerable peoples in the Kenedougou providence.

INTRODUCTION Par le truchement du corps de la paix américain en service dans le Kénédougou au Burkina Faso, SOS ENFANTS a élaboré en Août 2008 un projet de recherche de moustiquaires imprégnées à longue durée pour cinq mille (5000) OEV de la province. Un an plus tard, c'est la Fondation Against Malaria qui vient en aide à SOS ENFANTS avec mille cinq cents (1500) moustiquaires imprégnées collectées et emballées depuis la Grande Bretagne. Sur fond de SOS ENFANTS, le transport des 1500 moustiquaires a été assuré de Ouagadougou à Orodara puis dans les autres localités de distribution. Une autre structure nationale à savoir le PAMAC qui travaille avec SOS ENFANTS dans le domaine de la prévention du paludisme a disponibilisé des fonds qui ont permis de faire des théâtres forums et des causeries éducatives avant chaque distribution. Commencée le 30 Octobre 2009, la distribution a pris fin le 05 décembre 2009. Le présent rapport narratif prend donc en compte les points suivants:

Pour véritablement atteindre le public cible souhaité et s'assurer de la vulnérabilité des personnes qui doivent recevoir les moustiquaires, une stratégie a été mise en place et consistait à prendre contact avec les personnes ressources dans les localités de distribution. ces personnes ressources sont les délégués ou chefs de village, les responsables du district sanitaire et des CSPS, les chefs d'établissements primaires et secondaires. Ensuite, une mobilisation sociale a permis de mener les causeries éducatives et les théâtres forums; ce qui a permis d'atteindre le résultat qu'illustre le tableau suivant:

ETAT DE DISTRIBUTION DES MOUSTIQUAIRES PAR LOCALITE Comme prévu dans la stratégie d'organisation de la distribution, les personnes ressources ont aidé l'association a identifier les personnes habilités à recevoir les moustiquaires après chaque animation de sensibilisation sur la paludisme. Selon le quota attribué à chaque localité, la distribution s'est effectuée conformément au tableau ci-après:

LES PERSPECTIVES L'association poursuivra à partir de Janvier 2010 ses activités d'IEC/CCC sur le paludisme et la prise en charge communautaire des cas simples avec le soutien financier du PAMAC, de la MAS et du PADS. SOS ENFANTS souhaite donc continuer dans la mesure du possible son partenariat avec la fondation Against Malaria pour soutenir d'autres personnes vulnérables dans la province du Kénédougou.
