  • 1. Here We Come! On Tuesday, November 26, 2013, were leaving these shores In early December, well be relocating to a beautiful town called Asheville, in Western North Carolina where were going to make our home

2. Why America? Its an opportunity for a new life, in beautiful surroundings and a fantastic culture Tara gets to be close to her parents We can get back to the UK in less than a day Its going to be a great adventure! 3. Why Asheville? The Appalachian Mountains (AKA The Blue Ridge Mountains, The Smokey Mountains) Alternative lifestyle Very liberal place, lots of culture and things going on (music, art, theatre, performance, societies) Fantastic food and drink Asheville is one of the most vegetarian friendly cities in the US with four dedicated vegetarian restaurants and its also Beer City USA with over 20 breweries within 30 miles Nature and surroundings Lots of parks, climbing and walks; great architecture, including Biltmore Great downtown area Easily walkable, lots to do in a few blocks Close(ish) to Taras parents Only a five hour drive! 4. Are You Coming Back To The UK? You bet! Well be back to visit at least once a year Were going to be doing House Swapping, where we exchange houses So a person comes from the UK and lives at our place in Asheville and vice-versa This means that we can stay here for up to a month at a time But, we also want you to come visit us! 5. Asheville Facts Population: 83,000 Located in Buncombe County and established in 1797 Asheville is recognised for a number of things including: o o o o o o o o o"a New Age Mecca" the "New Freak Capital of the U.S.", one of "The 50 Most Alive Places To Be", the "Happiest City for Women", one of the "Best Places to Reinvent Your Life", one the "Best Outside Towns", one of the "Top Seven Places to Live in the U.S.", one of the "10 Most Beautiful Places in America", reigned the champion "Beer City USA" each year from 2009 to 2012. Weather is very seasonal Temperatures are typically a bit warmer than the UK in Summer and a bit cooler in Winter Lots of thunderstorms! 6.
