History The planet Jupiter was

discovery is unknown. We are not sure who was the first one to discover it.

The planet Jupiter was named after the famous Greek God, Zeus.

In 1973, the United States sent four spacecraft to observe this giant planet. Pioneer 10 and 11, along with Voyager I and II sailed past Jupiter gathering images that we still use and see today.

Natural Features and Size

Jupiter is about 318 times bigger than Earth.

Jupiter has 16 known moons. There’s four large moons and 12 small moons.

Jupiter does not have any rings but the planet has a solid surface due to gaseous composition.

SurfaceThe surface is also decorated in large ‘belts’ due to the atmospheric movements.

Touristy things to do One fun thing to do on planet

Jupiter is to go exploring throughout the different colored bands. They are light bands and there are dark bands.

Another fun thing to do on planet Jupiter is to go Air Sailing. What you do is you stand with your arms out and let the huge winds carry you by at 400 mph! It’s so much fun!

Distance and Travel Time

The type of aircraft that will be used to get to Jupiter is a high fashioned, aircraft called a X-43A Scrammed.

The distance from Earth to Jupiter is 390,602,810 miles. And it would take 542.5 days to travel up to Jupiter.

Stay Time One day on Jupiter

is 9.925 hours on Earth.

Visitors will be staying one week. (69.475 Earth hours)

Temperature and packing

Jupiter’s temperature is about 230 degrees F.

Visitors should pack shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops and sandals.

Atmosphere There is about 82 % hydrogen,

18 % helium and traces of nearly all other elements. Most of this is in the form of molecular compounds, ammonia, methane, molecular hydrogen and water. The upper areas of the zones are believed to be ammonia ice crystals. Liquid ammonia probably floats below that. So yes, there is an atmosphere.

The atmosphere requires a breathing apparatus because of the lack of oxygen.

Light and Supplies Visitors should brings

lights and candles for special activities and for the fact that they need to be able to see where they are going at certain parts of the day.

Other supplies that visitors should take along with them are extra food, more clothes, sun tan lotion, blankets and pillows.

Special Features and Bonuses

One year on Jupiter is 4335 Earth days.

If you were 30 years old, you would now be 130050 years old on Jupiter.

There is 2.5 times the force of gravity on Jupiter than on Earth.

If you weighed 100 pounds on planet Earth then you would weigh 250 pounds on planet Jupiter.

Cost and Contact Information

A seven day stay on planet Jupiter would cost around 4.5 million dollars.
